We had lobster Mac and cheese 2 thumbs up. hit. As well as shrimp and scallop skewers: Big miss. :(tasted and smelled funny. I told the waitress she thought smelled fine. Someone at next table said she cld smell from her table something was amiss. Another waiter went to check with chef. Said they came in fresh this am. Maybe not proper for prep or overcooked? They took off the bill. I will have to see if a rare occurrence and try the place again.

Have been twice, both on «event weekends»(Easter and prelude). Give my review a grain of salt based on this. Space is great, though they need blinds for the sun. Food has been inconsistent. Today the tuna was great — a David’s signature that is worth the trip. The haddock(3 people had this) was disappointing. I am used to smaller portions with high quality food — and this is clearly the aim here. Quality of fish was there but the plate was missing something. The Mac and cheese was just off — sauce was thin and bland — like the white sauce was finished but they forgot to add the cheese. Service was off too — the hostess was sidetracked on the phone for 10+ minutes at a time and clearly did not know how to «handle» chatty callers. Waitress was confused by «chenin blanc» order. Really — then why is this varietal on the menu? One mixed drink was returned because it was undrinkable. I’ll be trying once more, but this isn’t developing into a «go to» place — which I was really hoping for.

I had the tequila stir fry and it was great. My husband was able to enjoy lobster and I enjoyed my meal as well! Service was great! Visited October 2014

Excellent lunch! We sat outside on the porch and enjoyed the view of the harbor while we enjoyed fish and chips. Service was great, food even better. We did have to wait a little while, which was okay being that we weren’t in any big hurry and the food was worth the wait.

Wow, I don’t even know where to start. Used ban aid in my salad. We had to request the manager come to our table. He apologized and did not charge me for the salad, but needless to say it ruined our lunch. It surely could of been handled better.

Great atmosphere and pretty views, but food is so-so. Recently spent $ 100 for the two of us; we each had one cocktail and a sirloin steak, and shared a shrimp cocktail. The steak, though cooked okay, was swimming in too much rich sauce and was placed on top of a small pile of mashed potatoes. No vegetable or even garnish. Sides are extra. We had to ask for bread. The entrée appeared heavy and unappetizing. It seems that each time we have dined there or come for drinks, the same menu item – a salad, for instance– looks and tastes differently – sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Menu is a bit limited, too. Best for the views and location – and for cocktails at one of the bars or on the deck.

Tried this place on our«mini moon» and was very happy with it! Beautiful location and ambience. The complimentary garlic knots were delish! Started out by splitting a Cajun chicken pizza which was absolutely delicious! For our entrees, my husband had the halibut with crab(I think it was halibut…) and it was really tasty. I had the Mac and cheese with lobster which I had hoped would be more full of lobster like a typical lobster mac, but prob my fault for thinking it was lobster mac n cheese instead of Mac n cheese with lobster(should there be a difference, I’m not sure?). Either way, I enjoyed it! People next to us were raving about the salmon too. Def a place to stop at!

Went for lunch Sunday. An upscale restaurant on the water with a large covered deck and large indoor area. The Boathouse hotel is upstairs. Got seated right away and had a Bloody Mary. Very good just the way I like it. GF got the Mimosa. She had recently had some bad ones. This was very good. I got a medley of Oysters and it was the best thing I ate for the weekend. Next I got the fish and chips. It was Hake, which I’ve caught and like. A white fish like cod or haddock. It was good. My GF got the steak and mashed potatoes. She ordered it medium and it came out well done. She ate it anyways. Great weather good setting and some good food.

Here’s a tip to get to paradise while you’re still above ground. Find a sunny day between 70 and 80 degrees at noon in Kennebunkport… go to valet parking at David’s KPT… do not try to park on your own particularly on a weekend at which time Kennebunkport becomes a tourist mecca. Finding a parking place is like mining gold. Get a table overlooking the Kennebunk River on the outside deck in a shaded section… hopefully you will have a friendly waitress as we did. Order your favorite beverage. I opted for a wonderful Bloody Mary with two olives and a celery stick without the shrimp which is available if you want it. Order your favorite lunch while gazing at the marina docking a number of boats on the Kennebunk River. If you are an oyster aficionado there are usually two or three types of oysters available from Maine or from other Mid Atlantic coastline farming sites. l opted for the Norumbega oysters which were mild and minimally tangy. I usually look for Glidden point or pemaquids when in Maine… some aficionados tell you to order oysters only in a month with an R in it. Being September I guess we had it made. My wife had a lobster salad enhanced with tomatoes, bean sprouts, cucumbers, etc… all consistent with this paradise moment. As a sightseeing boat quietly floated by we realized that this was a special moment to be savored. .

Loved David’s! We went for lunch and it was elegant yet cozy. The food was awesome and the service friendly. We had fish and chips and the steak with a seafood skewer. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. Our table had a beautiful view of the water and it was the perfect end to our last afternoon in Maine.

I loved David’s! Right on the marina in Kennebunkport, great views, great atmosphere and great service. The food was amazing. Oysters are fresh, truffle fries are to die for, «the meat» pizza was delicious! Sat at the bar and had two great servers — looking forward to going back next time I’m in Kennebunkport!

An excellent location could not over come the horrible service and poorly prepared food. My husband and I went out for our anniversary — but the sever wouldn’t even engage in minimal social conversation, so he wouldn’t know it was a special night out for us. He was rude and abrupt at best. I was leaning in to talk to my husband while waiting for our entrees to come and he literally dropped my fork and knife on the table in front of me. I ordered a mixed drink and had a glass of water. Our server never refilled my water glass — even when I set it on the edge of the table for 10 minutes. Mark’s(our waiter) answers were short, no meal recommendations, and he didn’t bother to share the specials with us — he spent a lot of time staring out the window to the tables on the deck(but all of his tables were inside). The food was hit or miss. I had the tomato avocado caprese salad and it was phenomenal, however I ordered the«sushi» tuna as my entrée. The tuna was fine, but nothing special. However, the noodles that were part of the entrée were horribly over cooked… it was mush on a plate. My husband ordered a steak and the portion was small, but well-cooked. It was very amusing to watch him try to cut it with the butter knife since our server didn’t bother to give him a steak knife. It’s a shame that the server was so unpleasant — because a little engagement and personality would have made me overlook the problems with the food(or could have easily been fixed). Final thought — if you get seated in Mark’s section… ask to move because the food isn’t good enough to forgive how unpleasant he is.(I started watching our server towards the end of our meal to see if it was just us and noted he was equally as rude to his other tables, so I think he’s just a rude individual by default)

The Quick: On the water, very classy and upscale with fantastic 3 – 6 happy hour everyday. Food and drink specials. The house made truffle chips are addicting, the $ 8 cheese platter is fantastic, and the truffle steak tartare is mouth watering. Overall home run.

We started off bad waiting for a waitress for 15 minutes. Once we got started the Taunton oysters were fantastic, followed by a mouthwatering Ceasar salad. Our entrees were Portland Sirloin steak with garlic mashed potato and Yellowfin Tuna caught by the owner today. Both entrees get an A+. Steak was perfectly cooked with an savory flavor. The tuna plate was a special of the day and you should hope they have it again. My husband and I loved the experience.

This is by far one of the best meals that I have had in a very long time. We were up at the beach for the weekend for some fishing. Our fishing charter captain recommend David’s and boy are we glad we took his advice. We quickly valet parked, walked right in and sat immediately despite how busy they were(Saturday night). The wait staff is fenominal. Our waitress was promt, got our order in quickly and correctly. The food: unbelievable. We started with the local Maine oysters which were fresh and very clean. I had the blackened sword fish which was tasty and we also shared the open face lobster ravioli. I could go on and but you will have to try it yourself to fully understand.

The restaurant location is right on the water overlooking the bay with indoor and outdoor seating. The wait was about 1.2 hours but I’m not going to complain on the wait because the area is flooded with Canadians and your going to wait everywhere. I stuck out like a sore thing in gym shorts and boat shoes as everyone else was dressed to the tee. Got in and sat right down and the waiter took our drink orders and brought them right out. The waiting game continued when the waiter took about 15 minutes to come back and take our orders. Although they were busy, this is a little long in my opinion. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt on this because it was busy. Menu prices are on the higher side but David’s is considered upscale so it’s expected, I ordered the Portland sirloin(27 $) medium well and it came with mashed potatoes. When the actual plate came in; in my mind I was like«What is this?». Baby sized steak with 1⁄3 of a potato mashed up but I said okay I won’t judge on appearance. Cut into the steak and it was very well done. If your gonna sell a 27 $ steak at least make it a good size if it’s going to be cooked bad, I expected a very tasty steak when I saw it was so small. People around have very similar complains on there meat being unevenly cooked. Waitress kept coming to refill our glasses which is a big deal for me especially because it was so busy, I can appreciate good service! Overall: Food 1/5, Service 4⁄5

I had great dinner with my wife on the outside deck, which was beautiful. The service was prompt, the garlic bites were delectable, and the lobster roll was plentiful and delicious. Although, I feel like the meat could have been a little warmer, but maybe I’m a lobster roll rookie. Go with the lobster ravioli, which actually has shrimp and scallops as well. We were suggested to this place by a coworker, and it was definitely a great suggestion.

We ended up here based on a suggestion from two women outside Sweet Pea’s ice cream in Ogunquit. David’s doesn’t take reservations so be prepared to wait or eat at the bar. We lucked out with a window table overlooking the bridge, and a beautiful view of the sunset. Ambiance and appearance were perfect. We started with Mussels in garlic sauce and a Cheese Plate sampler. The mussels were a healthy serving and delicious. The cheeses were a great combination of blue, Brie and a New York cheese that was similar to a Romano, all served with a Strawberry Compote that had strong overtones of nutmeg. We both chose seafood for dinner. The lobster ravioli was amazing, with shrimp, lobster and clams in a great sauce. The pepper-seared tuna was a bit heavy on the pepper but the dipping sauce toned it down nicely. After such a great dinner, we weren’t going to get dessert but they put a «warm chocolate chip oatmeal cookie» on the menu. I couldn’t resist, and I should have. It was over cooked and crunchy instead of soft and gooey, the only bad thing we had all night. The cookie cost them the 5th star.

The Boathouse in Kennebunkport, Me. Is the best of the best, happy hour daily 3 to 6, wine $ 5.00, Barwell and martinis $ 6.00 must sit at one of there 3 bars to get this deal. The entire property is on the river with views from all angles, absolutely a must stop and the hotel is on the second level, beautiful rooms with great bedding, views, decks… just perfect

Sat at the bar during happy hour and enjoyed a few dishes such as the duck sliders, smoked scallop cakes(yum!), tuna tartare and lobster roll. Everything was great even though the lobster roll is bit overpriced for what we found elsewhere in town but I suppose you have to cover the overhead somehow. Bill and Brian the bartenders were super attentive and another reason to go back!
