This place didn’t have a single whole fish, for a coastal fish market. No better than a low end supermarket.

Despite staying in Ogunquit we were referred to Herbs by a couple locals in the area. It was definitely worth the 10 minute drive for fresh & very reasonably priced seafood! Great owners, very knowledgable about their product! We bought a variety of mussels, clams, haddock, scallops & shrimp, a feast for 4! A must stop if your in the area. Plus they sell a huge variety of plants out front!

Spending the summer in coastal Maine means that at some point I’ll have lobster and lots of it. I had driven by this place a bunch of time and I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical of buying fresh seafood from a place that has BAIT written in huge letters. But a couple weeks ago I decided to give them a shot. Having their prices displayed outside in view of drivers is a great idea! Currently live chix lobsters are super cheap! I went in and was greeted by an extremely nice woman behind the counter that was putting receiving in some live lobsters that had just come in. She helped me and answered a couple questions I had. I left with 4 super fresh lobsters and was very happy. Went home and we steamed them and they were everything that we had hoped they would be. I have been back twice since my initial visit and plant to do so whenever I need fresh seafood. They also have a vast array of fresh flowers and plants. So give them a chance.

I was leery. I mean, when the top of the sign says«BAIT», I find myself wondering about the seafood. But I stopped at Herb’s, I got some haddock, and it was amazing. It tasted really fresh and was firm in a way that frozen fish never is. And the price was really good too. If Herb’s is consistently this good, it’s a five star place for sure. By the way, they’ve got plants too. Herb’s is a bait shop, a fish store, and a garden center all in one. Of course I was skeptical but now I’m amazed.
