If you’re not from Maine, but love Maine specialty foods… this place is for you! It’s basically a curated shop of all of our best locally produced jarred foods and more. Stonewall Kitchens(York), Flo’s(Cape Neddick), Above the Dam(Dayton), Kennebunkport Sauce Co.(KPort), Jack’s Gourmet(North Monmouth), Captain Mowatt’s(Portland)… you’ll find ‘em all here. There’s also the infamous wall of hot sauce. We spent quite a while reading through some of the names, which included: — Ass Blaster — Colon Blow — Butt Pucker — Satan’s Blood — I Am Sofa King Stew Ped — Queen of Farts — See Dick Burn — See Jane On Fire — See Spot In Heat — Sir Fartalot Oh, yes. There was laughing. Absolutely stop here if you’re in Kennebunkport to see this. Not just for the schoolyard giggles, but because there really were a plethora of options to choose from(it’s only August [as I write this], but I’m already feeling the stocking stuffer inspiration!). There was even a hot sauce that looked just like water… I can only imagine this would cause me serious heartburn. And yet, I’m intrigued. The only thing that kind of bummed us out was that when we showed up at 5pm, the woman working the store was cleaning up all the tasting stations. When we asked her if we should leave because it looked like she was closing up for the day, she said no — she’d be open for several more hours — she just didn’t want the tasting stations out anymore. Huge mistake. We are girls who like to shop and probably would have ended up purchasing goods(as a matter of fact, at one point I had banana ketchup [which, mark my words, I am buying for my dad for Christmas], chili lime sauce [by my favorite, Cholula], and onion jam [by Stonewall, of course] in my hand that I ended up putting away because of the icy exterior emanating from the woman working) if we had had the chance to try them.

We stopped in at Flaming Gourmet and found the selection of hot sauces to be phenomenal. They had am amazing selection of products from all over the world, and they also had a sugar free/no sugar added section. The only downside to this store was the fact the the clerk was not polite. When we went to pay she wasn’t pleasant and this bad transaction made us feel uncomfortable in the store. If it wasn’t for this event, then this shop would have received five stars.

So many quality hot sauces here. It’s not just the«hot to be hot» selections that you often find, but hot sauces that have great flavor as well. Although there are some novelty sauces, most are there because they’re quality. There was also a decent selection of «Maine» items such as wild blueberry jams, muffin mixes, chocolates, etc.

This place is quite charming, the hours during mon-wed were listed as «by chance», I did happen to find them open on a Tuesday afternoon, was pleasantly greeted by the man working there. I was delighted to buy some locally made pickles, and maple cream. They had such a large selection of other local and nearby products, so tough to choose. Wanted to go back!

AWESOME!!! I like my spices and sauces, and seasonings, and marinades etc. This place has a great selection of everything good! Salsas, hot sauces, jams, BBQ sauces, rubs, mustards, dips, etc. The sad thing is I do not mind spending $ 9 on a sauce, yeah, some stuff is a little pricey, but it’s SOOOOO worth it –I just made some yummy burgers with it. YUM! The have a ton of things out for you to sample, it was all good! I got a lot of other fun flavors and items but haven’t tried them yet to give my stamp of approval. If you are in town, skip all the other horridly cheesy and tacky touristy shops and come here to bring back some YUM into your food.
