Crawfish tender and well seasoned. Corn could have been cooked a little bit longer. Shrimp were nice but a little difficult to peel. Service was excellent! Will definitely return.

Went tonight had a bit of a wait but the people were very nice. It was well worth the wait. The food was delicious and the wait staff was awesome. Katie checked on us but didn’t push. We had the boiled crawfish and shrimp with the gravy cheese fries. The best gravy! Very nice evening.

I rounded up to 4 stars. It should really be 3.5 stars, but I don’t have much negative to say about this place. It could just use a few tweaks. The only negatives are the mac & cheese is dry(probably from heating up individual portions as they’re ordered, but that’s not excuse), the drinks taste more like sodas rather than alcoholic beverages, and the Cajun potatoes aren’t so Cajun at all. However, the catfish was some of the best fried catfish I’ve tasted! Fried to perfection. The fried oysters, shrimp, and hush puppies weren’t bad either, and service was exceptional. It would be nice if the TVs were HD too.

Can’t believe this place has negative reviews! This place is awesome. I am in the military and havnt been here for 3 years. We are from here originally and every time we come home, we stop here. Never dissatisfied. Crawfish, gumbo and oysters were really good. The service was really great as well. The server was very friendly and fast. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Horrid! I’m a local who eats regularly at Harbor Seafood and Kenner Seafood, both are fantastic. Was not willing to wait on a table at harbor today and as it is Kenner seafood is closed on Sundays. Therefor Smitty’s seafood was our choice today. Had the raw oysters which seemed to be extremely warm as if they weren’t on ice or stored in a cool place, also they were not good flavor. Then we had two of their pastas the shrimp Alfredo and their spicy crawfish both came with a side salad, which was old lettuce browning on many pieces. Then came the pasta Mine came with fried shrimp not what I ordered and seemingly drenched in sauce. Eventually when he was almost done eating our waitress asked how was the food, I asked if I could get my pasta without the fried piece and with the grilled also mentioned I didn’t mind the same pasta being used. When my pasta was returned they had much less shrimp than before, the pasta was cold, soggy, and swimming in way to much sauce. I was not asked how it was. I don’t mind a dive especially since the food is usually worth it. This was not worth my money. I should have know when Harbor was on a hour wait and they had one couple there waiting on a Togo order!

Great place! The seafood is really good. The surprise was the chicken Alfredo. Amazing home made sauce. We ate here two years ago and my husband to this day says the chicken Alfredo is the best he has ever had. Nice to see two years later still amazing food!

My husband and I were in New Orleans on two different occasions within two weeks visiting his mother in Kenner. Everyday we ate seafood because we’ve been so deprived of it while living in northern California. We ate at Smitty’s twice because not only was it conveniently located, but it was so fresh and delicious plus the service is outstanding. The gumbo is to die for and the fried shrimp and oysters are fantastic, even the french fries were good. Husband doesn’t like catfish and had no idea that’s what he was eating. He kept saying how good the fish were and my mother-in-law informed him he was eating catfish which he found hard to believe and said it was the best he’s every had. Next door, is Smitty’s bar for those who need a cocktail or beer. We don’t drink so I have no idea what it’s like but the parking lot was full. Everyone should try this restaurant if they’re craving fresh seafood!

Was my first time here. I can say I wasn’t disappointed. Great staff. I will definitely go back before I leave town and will be back anytime I’m in town.

Food is amazing and the service is always good. The soups are all delicious. The boiled crawfish and crabs are some of the best I’ve eaten. Come here often. Don’t have anything bad to say about this place!

Smittys is not the same smittys it use to be. I never get the amount of crawfish I order. One day I ordered 6 lbs of boiled crawfish and when I got home I re weighed it to find out I was only given 5.78 lbs exact. When I called to voice my grievances I was told that it was probably an error with the scale. Mind you your package of crawfish doesn’t come with a sticker attached like most seafood places to know the exact amount you got so you have to basically take their word on it. I’m pretty sure I was shorted out of crawfish paid for on many occasions. They did accommodate me for the difference in missing crawfish so be leery of the amount received versus the amount given. With all the hassle it may be less of a burden to just purchase from Kenner seafood or the harbor.

Smitty’s seems to have gone slightly downhill. They have removed the standing paper towel rolls and replaced them with napkin dispensers which are awkward to use when eating crawfish. They also don’t put out butter with the crackers anymore. Trying to cut corners, I guess. My friend had the grilled fish special of the day. It looked terrible. Three long, thin and dry pieces, with a huge bowl of steamed vegetables. Not a very good value for $ 10.95. The crawfish were delicious, so that was the saving grace. Smitty’s has long been our go-to place for seafood, but I think we are going to branch out and try new places after this experience.

Ordered some boiled crawfish to go from Smitty’s. I live about a mile away from the place, so I am very confused as to why my crawfish was SO cold when I got home with them. When I say cold, I don’t mean room temperature. When I say cold I mean it tasted as if these crawfish had been sitting in the refrigerator for the last hour. I don’t mind paying $ 5.49 a pound for excellent crawfish, but this was absolutely not up to par and not worth the money. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because once I reheated the crawfish myself, the seasoning was pretty good. I will not return.

HOLYCRAWFISHBATMAN! Stopped in while in NOLA on business. No complaints here. They were pretty busy for early crawfish season. Awesome service. Local folks and reasonable pricing. Fresh, delicious shrimp and crawfish. I Definitely a stop if you’re in town. Why eat on Bourbon Street when you can eat with the locals?! I feel a return visit in my future.

From the outside you would expect a quick sit down joint with greasy, easy cooked seafood but that’s not what you get. Food here was delicious for the price and being NOLA everything is fresh. Family ordered several plates of oysters and gumbo. Definitely a place to stop if you’re nearby.

Best fried catfish in the world, and also killer bread pudding. Plus-friendly staff, large portion sizes, reasonable pricing. I have visited this place over 20 times and never had a bad experience. Minus-seating and parking can be difficult during peak hours. If you are looking for a formal sit-down surf-and-turf restaurant, this one is not for you. If you like good seafood and a Cajun atmosphere this is it!

This is my third time at Smitty’s, and it’s been fantastic every time. My waiter was awesome and friendly, and the po boy I had was the best I have had here in NOLA! I can’t express how awesome Smitty’s is! I would keep in mind, that you’re not paying for atmosphere here. The food is king!

I love this restaurant! A local friend recommended me, their BBQ shrimp was fantastic! And we got a ton of boiled crawfish for $ 15! The wait staff is nothing special, probably because they’re pretty busy, but I came there to eat, not to chat with waitresses, so it didn’t bother me. Overall, I thought it was great:) I would go again for sure!

Smitty’s is a little hole in the wall place with almost no parking. That being said, their food, while slightly overpriced, is GOOD. Their crawfish is top notch. My personal favorite is the crawfish pasta. It’s an absolutely huge portion, served with buttered french bread of course. I can literally get 2 or 3 meals out of this one dish. Seating is very limited, so be prepared to wait on the bench outside with a cold one. I usually just call ahead and pick up my crawfish pasta to go on my way into town.

In the New Orleans metropolitan area, Kenner isn’t really a bastion of good food. I think Smitty’s, though, is worthy of being included in some of the best po’boy places in the area, New Orleans proper included. Everything that I’ve ever gotten here is great. The fried oyster po’boy is among the best I’ve ever had. The soft shell crab and fried crawfish tails po’boys are excellent too. Mac and cheese is maybe not something you’d typically get at a place like this, but it’s definitely just as good as your grandma used to make. Service can be spotty. But the food is so good I’ll keep coming back.
