Don’t let the shady motel scare ya! This place has great food at excellent prices! A must stop for a great Mexican dinner!

We planned to go to Longwood Gardens in the afternoon, find a restaurant for a dinner break and go back to the gardens in the evening. I chose this restaurant based on reviews. We waited 30 minutes before getting any food which was stale chips and salsa. I ordered a Margarita because of a sign offering $ 5 until 9. Our waitress said that was a typo and did not honor it. Also my Margarita was in a small wine glass and was half full. At one hour in we were told that it would be another 20 minutes because each plate was made to order. We were going to leave but were talked into getting the order to go with a 15 percent reduction in bill, more stale chips and 2 more drinks which we did not want. Our bill was $ 50 for food that was ok, standard american/mexican. Should have went to Wendys. At least would have had more time to enjoy Longwood Gardens.

As mentioned in another review, this restaurant is a hidden gem and probably the best Mexican Food restaurant in Kennett Square and surrounding areas. Having grown up in the Southwest(Arizona and Southern California), I miss authentic Mexican Food that is sorely lacking on the East Coast. Their fresh, house-made chips, salsas(Pico De Gallo, Spicy Red, Salsa Fresca), and guacamole are awesome and I always buy some to take home when I eat there, as well as stopping by their stand to pick some up in the Friday Farmer’s Market. Their Classic Margaritas are tasty too — large, not over-filled with ice like so many other places, and reasonably priced. They’re also classically made without a mix, which is the only way I will drink them. They have a few vegetarian options which is what I always choose, having changed to a vegan diet over three years ago. The Vegetarian Fajitas are fantastic and come with some of the best authentic refried beans and rice I’ve ever eaten. My omnivore friends who eat meat say the burritos are great as well. I’m sure all the food is good just based on the salsas and guacamole alone, which tells you a lot about the authenticity and quality of Mexican food upfront. The staff is always friendly and nice with attentive service too. Highly recommend this place and wish it was in West Chester where I live, instead of Kennett Square.

I wanted to rate Taste of Puebla much higher because the experience was nice, the service was fantastic, and the cooks clearly put effort into making the food good. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts made by the staff, the place just lacked. quality. We tried to find the a local brewery but drive in circles 3 times before deciding to plug Taste of Puebla into the GPS — entirely because of the 4 star rating on Unilocal. As we arrived, we almost kept driving. We pulled into the parking lot and went in against our best judgement. This place is attached to a very seedy looking motel. We figured, what the heck — sometimes the best food comes from the strangest hole in the wall dumps. Not the case here, unfortunately. Checked in and scored 10% off, which was fantastic :) The guacamole was tasty, and the salsa was clearly homemade but it still lacked the pizzazz(aka salt) of really great authentic Mexican cuisine. My husband had a quesadilla and I had the fajitas. Neither dish was worth writing home about, but both were edible. We forgot about our experience by the time we made it home. Sorry Taste of Peubla!

I almost don’t want to share my secret about the shortest line at the Rodney Square farmers market! The most amazing tamales are here– 3 for $ 7. The pork has a red sauce and is very spicy, but so delicious. The chicken has a mild kick, with green sauce and the vegan option has mushroom, tomato, and jalapeño. Are are amazing. I wish I could say that I eat 2 and save one for later, but that would be a bold faced lie!

I was wondering about this place at first because it’s practically joined at the hip to a cheap motel. However, it’s completely different inside — more of a classy Mexican restaurant and bar. There was outdoor seating too, although I chose not to use that. Service here was very good. I am not so sure I can be enthusiastic about the food though. I had the Fajitas Combinadas this time. Although the portion size was big, prices were above average and the food itself didn’t seem all that different from what I’d get at the average non-authentic Mexican joint. I think I may have to try something a bit more unusual from the menu to see their true range.

Terrific little sleeper gem in Kennett. Not fancy — but the food is always fresh and delicious, made to order and great service. There’s a terrific chicken dish with locally sourced shiitake mushrooms and a green sauce that’s out of this world. Full bar too. Extremely reasonable prices, family and group friendly. These guys are regulars at the Farmers Market in Kennett and also do catering. Love this place!

There is love in every dish! And the mole is the best I have ever had! This is a family operation that brings the best of every dish from their homeland. Even simple dishes like fish tacos offer a delicate complexity. The agua frescas are light and refreshing(I get the lime for takeout for our margaritas at home). We are so fortunate to have this restaurant in our community!

We only discovered this restaurant 3 weeks ago and loved it so much we went back again already. The food is wonderful. The margaritas are made with fresh juices and spices. The prices are terrific and the service is top notch. This could be my favorite restaurant.(And the Valentines ceviche was to die for. Please put it on the regular menu!)

Such a disappointing let down! Was in their old spot — a dinky little place a few towns over — more than a few times and it was amazing. Best Mole around. We finally made it to this new place after trying to make it in for more than a year. It was kind of like a Mexican chain but food was even more bland and tasteless. Mole had no flavor except a bit of chocolate. Possibly worst tacos I’ve ever had in Kennett. Even the guac was flavorless. Very disappointed. I know these folks know how to make great food. But, this stuff was beyond gringo & terribly overpriced. Service was bad, too. Do yourself a favor and stick with one of the many taco stands nearby.

The food and drinks are very good quality… when you finally get them. But for Mexican food it is very expensive. They do not have happy hour specials on drinks so while the fresh made margaritas are good tasting, they are not strong and they fill the small glass up to the top with ice first. It is about half of what I would get at any other Mexican restaurant and costs more. And since everything is made to order the kitchen gets backed up if they are crowded. So don’t go here if you are in a rush. And the salsa was more of diced tomatoes like a pico de gallo, which is good but I prefer my salsa to be scoopable. And they didn’t give very much for a table of 4 to share. I wish I could give them a better review. The owner is proud of his business and his wife is the cook. I like supporting family run businesses and I hope they read the negative reviews here and can do something to make the experience better. Like nobody is there at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, so why not have some food or drink specials to get people to come in when it is slow?

We came because it was recommended but we regret it. My husband ordered chicken fajitas which were the most flavorless dish. He said it might as well be air fried chicken at an Asian restaurant. I ordered chicken enchiladas with green salsa. It was dry which prompted me to ask for more sauce. The duce was fresh but not impressive. The rice and beans had no seasoning. We received a Pico de gallo add a salsa that was just chopped tomatoes. We had to ask for a different sauce. The only thing that was tasty was the hibiscus tea and the tiny bowl of guacamole. The tortilla soup was over salty and could not be consumed not even by our daughters. Not coming back again.

Food is delicious and authentic Mexican. Drinks were great and all of the food taste fresh and I can tell the food was made to order. I have been to this restaurant 3x and will keep coming back. Lunch and dinner are both great. The salsa is fresh and the tamales are super fresh and tasty. One more thing, the prices are reasonable!

We were not impressed by this restaurant. We tried it twice thinking maybe the first time they were having an off night. The first time we sat at the bar, and it took 6 – 8 minutes before the bartender acknowledged us.(Only 3 others at the bar). We placed out drink order(margaritas) another 5 – 6 minutes and we got them. Had to ask for chips twice. Had to wait for a different person to take our food order. Placed our food order(fish tacos and enchiladas). After about 20 minutes we get our food and it was bland and cold. The second time we sat at at table, only about 10 people on the place. Ordered food and drinks at one time. It took 5 – 7 minutes to get drinks and then we had to ask for chips. Got those and our COLD tortilla soup, Yuck. Our meals came out about 15 minutes later and they were horrible(mole and tacos). The worst service ever and bad food. Will not be back.

I’m often hesitant to try new places, and with so many good Mexican places around the Kennett area I had no reason to try a new one… However, my wife convinced me, and all I can say is that I’m SO glad she did. The food was outstanding. Top of my list in the Kennett area! Highly recommend anything with the mole sauce, and the cucumber(something) margaritas. I’ve been twice in the past month.
