Not overly impressed by my experience here but I’m a tough critic when it comes to Mexican food. Margaritas were really sweet and not well balanced. Chips and salsa were good but could use a little spice infusion. Their guac was done up right, definitely enjoyed that part. Entrees were… eh, not bad, just not great. May have filled up too much on the guac. Service needs help, our server didn’t know the menu and charged us higher prices than what was printed. Wasn’t outrageous enough to merit a complaint but it was noticed. Also, that part of town is slipping; We sat out on patio and it kind of felt like we were in a high school parking lot with little cat fights, loud music, people yelling, just not a great atmosphere, no fault of their own but still.

I took my adult son here a few days ago and we both loved it! The chips and salsa are homemade and they are both fantastic! I had steak fajitas and my son had a combo platter – both items were served piping hot and with generous portions. My only complaint is that the fajitas did not come with sour cream, but the waitress brought me some at no charge. We will definitely be going back!

Just came back from this place for the 6th time and the food is great! I had the chicken fajitas and my husband had the steak chimichanga and everything was delicious! The spices and flavors had a really nice kick unlike any other Mexican restaurant we have been to and the prices are very reasonable! The owners are great and very nice and polite. Every time we have came here the service is the best in town! But I do want to comment on people like deemarie W. and it is very disappointing to here bad comments like hers who only seem to be trying to ruin a new businesses reputation! We are a 63 year old retired couple and it is a shame that people like her take there own personal time to damage the new owners business and lively hood. To me she seems very racist against Mexicans and Mexican restaurants. She has also wrote a bad review about El sarape which is another great place to eat. The food is excellent! She also talks about how«gringos» can do a better job and to me that is a racist remark! I’m sure the owners and staff(including myself and husband) will be happy to know she is never returning! Take a min and look at her profile and racist remarks on other mexican restaurants and you be the judge! My husband and I highly recommend this place and we will be returning shorty!

Walking into this restaurant on a Friday evening at 6 pm and their was only one other couple at the bar was our first clue. We argued the fact that it was the day after Thanksgiving and maybe people just aren’t out(lol) and that they have gotten some good reviews. They really do. Also we have been wanting to try this place for some time and two other couples were joining us shortly. Margaritas: they use the mix called Daily’s. The bright lime green one you can buy at any grocery store. You be the judge. Pico de gallo was normal not crazy spicy at all, but their mild salsa is blended canned tomatoes with no flavor at all. The waitress was very sweet but obviously it was her first night taking orders as she couldn’t really get it together. During the order taking, my husband couldn’t yet decide so she just left to get the drinks that some of us ordered without taking the rest of the peoples orders and then coming back to him. Other awkwardness’s about her service just screamed«I’m new». We can deal with that. She didn’t know the menu and when I asked her what she recommends here she said only the fajitas. We were surprised about that. Then she started telling me what fajitas are. Ok I ordered the fajitas, one ordered the surf and turf burrito and three ordered the steak chimichanga and one combination was ordered. A short time later, my fajitas came out(not sizzling either) and one order of the steak chimichanga came out. That was it for like 10 – 15 minutes. Our waitress came out and feared she brought out the wrong chimmi and was apologetic about the other food not being ready. The presentation of the food looked really impressive. Lots of fresh looking bell peppers on the fajita. Large portions of the burrito and chimichanga. The combination looked pleasing as well. Then we tasted the food… My fajitas were so salty and had a weird after flavor to them that stung your tongue. Not a spicy way but a whole lot of, maybe MSG. I really don’t know what it was, but I COULDNOT eat it at all. This has never happened to me in all my restaurant going years. I have to tell you, I will eat food that is not that great. I am not a picky person, as Mexican food is my all time favorite. I could not eat this. Others tasted it and agreed something is off. The burrito and the chimichangas we’re suppose to be steak but there was only a few little pieces in there and we think it was frozen bits.(see my pic of the cold take home that we cut in half). It was ALL refried beans! Everyone commented about how stuffed with beans they were, gross. The combination platter had an enchilada on it and her only complaint also was the sauce. Very salty and had that weird tinge to your tongue. MSG. Who knows. The fresh guacamole was good. When the checks arrived, it took her forever to come pick them back up. We were STILL the only table in this whole entire restaurant that had people at it. We will definitely NOT be returning here ever.

I have eaten here several times now and love the food! I have met the owners who are very nice people. Every time I have gone back since my first visit there have been changes and improvements to the building and décor. Having talked with the owners it sounds as if they will continue to renovate until they get it to what they envision. I had read Darlas review and can say that most of the issues she experienced are no longer present. We have had much better experiences. The patio has been re-done and was very enjoyable during the summer. The $ 5.99 lunch specials are a great value and perfect size. The mariachi band was awesome the 2 times we saw them, seems like there is always something going on on the weekend! I would defiantly recommend giving them a try! I would give 5 stars but the ambiance isn’t full Mexican yet. They are working on some things so I will update my review in a few months as they complete their renovations

This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life, and I’m 57, so I’ve had quite a few. I just returned from Luna Azul Agave. First, we(3 of us) walked in to the place and were greeted by musty, stagnant air that smelled very old, as if the owners had made a feeble attempt to cover up old, smoky odors of days gone by. But, it’s an old building, so we tried to keep an open mind. We arrived about 6 p.m. and there was no one to greet us at the door which was understandable, as there appeared to be no one else in the restaurant, save a few people hanging out at the bar which was in a separate room. It was still happy hour. When we were finally greeted and seated, the waitress was efficient in bringing our drinks, chips, and salsa. The menu is typical of the normal Mexican restaurant. Two of us ordered the Flautas Originales that, according to the menu, were filled with shredded beef and served with a side of guacamole, rice, and beans. Our orders came quickly. You know how when you go to Mexican restaurants they always have to use potholders to bring your plate out and then they warn you that your plate is hot? Not an issue here. Not only were the plates not hot, neither was any of the food. The shredded cheese on the beans did not melt as they were barely lukewarm. The shredded beef flautas looked and tasted like they had been made ahead and perhaps slightly reheated as they shells were dark and greasy. The shredded beef flautas were filled with CHICKEN and there was no guacamole at all. I did tell our waitress about the issues and she offered to have our dinners remade, but we really just wanted to get out of there. She did bring out our side dishes of guacamole and it tasted decent. After waiting quite a while for our check, we finally gave up, estimated what we thought our bill would be, put the cash on the table, and walked out. Our waitress was seated in the other room at the bar and shouted, «Goodnight» as we left. I can’t imagine how the other reviewers had a 5-star experience. We will certainly never return to Luna Azul Agave.
