Mochiko garlic chicken is amazing! It may be a questionable place to eat, but once you try their food you will become a regular.

You have try there Monchiko Chicken! It’s seriously so good! The chicken is crispy and the garlic sauce that comes with it is YUMMY. Looking at other reviews yeah the location is a bit weird, but man is the food amazing!

Lau Lau pork had canned spinach inside… extremely bland… even after adding salt and soy sauce. Mac salad also needed seasoning… like…do they have seasoning back there? I’m so disappointed. :/literally disgusting.

Excellent food. Very clean place and the owner is really nice. My son and I stop by whenever we can and are never disappointed. It is next to a small hotel but it is a safe area. Don’t miss this place!!!

We mustve came during a slow day but on a Friday night we were craving for Hawaiian food. Not located in a great area. We actually thought the place was closed when we pulled up until we saw someone turn on the lights. The place was clean inside and I could totally see a joint like this in the Islands. From the time we arrived, ate our dinner, and paid, not 1 customer came in. Their gaugee was crispy and tender inside. Yum. A previous Unilocaler said the mac salad was bland. I second that. Noodles over cooked, dont think Hellman mayo was used, really had no taste. Decided to try the meat jun and it was very sweet. I wouldnt put this place up there w/Saimin says. It had great reviews on Unilocal.Guess I’ll have to look at the quantity of reviewers too. The service was great.

Really great food. I think it gives Pac Island Grill and L&L a run for its money. BBQ Chicken and Mac Salad is amazing. Best Hawaiian Local food in Federal Way/Kent. The only place in town that has Meat Jun!

With the loss of Saimin Says several years back in the area, this place was a welcome addition to satisfy my Hawaiian cravings. I usually order the wonton min and a side of chicken musubi. I like that the broth isn’t salty. The musubi is a healthy portion and fills you up. The owner is very nice too. Unfortunately they are located in not such a great area, but it is worth a stop if your craving some food from the islands.

We saw this place while driving around last night looking for dinner. Gave it a shot. I am glad we tried it. Very friendly service. Short ribs were HUGE and tender. Great taste. Good rice. Tender chicken. I would go back.

Was excited to try out this place since it is close to my house. Recently moving back from Hawaii, I wanted some local grinds. Seen this place and hoped for the best but in return got the worst. I ordered the meat jun mochiko combo with gau gee and a musubi. The gau gee was ok but flavorless. The meat jun was an overcooked scrambled egg with no taste. The mochiko chicken was uncooked batter on a piece of fatty chicken and staying in theme tasteless. Since you can judge a great plate lunch by the mac salad you will know once you open up the little bowl that you just wasted your money. The mac tatsed like it sat in the fridge for a while after sitting and soaking in cold water. The noodles were way over done and it was just a bunch of soggy noodles in a soup of mayo. The musubi though saved the day. It was the only thing that tatsed good surprisingly along with my Hawaiian Sun lilikoi iced tea. All in all I will never come here again. Should have known seeing that it was a Vietnamese family running a Korean/Hawaiian bbq joint. Nothing against the Vietnamese but they should stick to phở.

Not the best service and not the worst. But the food, DELICIOUS! Perfectly priced and a nice size portion. Kalbi was good and trying Huli Huli for the first time did not disappoint.

This place never shows up in my searches, because I always do the«open now» option, and their hours aren’t posted here. Which is annoying. I ordered the fried shrimp, loco moco, and spam musubi. The gravy was a sort of gelatinous glob by the time I got home(4 minutes from the restaurant), but once i scooped all that away, the loco moco was okay. When you see the shrimp, they look huge, but then you soon realize it’s all an illusion, the shrimp are not that big inside all the breaking. The macaroni salad was luke warm, which was disappointing. I always assume macaroni salad is cold, and it was quite a shock to my palate when it wasn’t. But it was just so-so in taste anyway. Based on the order, their saving grace is the spam musubi. Delicious, and a great portion. I’ll be back just for that. And I may try something else on the menu next time.

They don’t cook your order until after they cook for their children who sits on the customer table. Taking caring their kid well is good but I don’t appreciate to be left there and waiting for 40min and they stated cooking order to go meals that they just got from the phone order. We never go back again

I live about 2 minutes away and I was hesitant at first coming in because it was empty but I was proven wrong! Don’t be so quick to judge!

I found this place a while back and was intrigued by it’s name because I was craving food from back home. I am amazed by the number of Hawaiian food places here in Washington and I have plans to try them all. This has been my 3rd Hawaiian restaurant so far and I was decently pleased. Portions were satisfying and my b/f really loved their kalua pork. The owner was friendly and food was made efficiently.

Exceeded my expectations! Like other reviews say — it is tucked in a questionable part of town — but the quality, service, and price creates a little oasis out of this place. Its cute and clean, and the quality, service, and price are totally worth coming back for more. I ordered additional spam musubi to go — its like heaven in my mouth I love it so much!

Standard bearer on Hawaiian food now is Rutts in LA. While good, not to Rutts level.

This is a great little place. The only reason they get 4 stars is because as many other reviewers have stated this place is in a questionable part of town. The place itself is very clean! As many others have noted the lady taking your orders is one of the nicest ladies, she wants to make sure you get exactly what you want. The food is great, I got the BBQ combo everyone was talking about and it was as good as advertised. Their short ribs are their specialty. The portion sizes are good, not to big not to small. You will leave full that’s for sure. If you are in the area and its daylight outside I recommend giving this place a try. I myself was hesitant because of the surroundings but I’m glad I stopped in and will be back for sure.

Eh. Was not worth the trip, won’t go back. I was stoked they offered meat jun. it was very underwhelming. 10% beef, 90% egg. Kind of insulting, honestly. Nothing else made up for it. Disappointing, I was hoping for a legit Hawaiian place in the area.

This place is one of the best Hawaiian home-styled cuisine in the area. The place is very nice and clean despite the outside look. The lady at the counter is always considerate of each customer and is treated with the best service. The food took a little bit long to prepare, but it was worth it once you got the food at your table. My favorite is the BBQ combo, but all is good. The portions are pretty big and considerably cheap. They say that all Hawaiian restaurants can be judged by their Mac salad, and not, they are pretty darn good.

Driving down Pac Highway trying to find a taco truck who also take credit cards, it was like trying to find the holy grail. After stopping at another taco truck that was cash only, I luckily spotted Hawaiian Sun BBQ from the other side of the highway. This relatively new restaurant, only opened since April 2012, is connected to the Sunset Motel. Hawaiian Sun BBQ serves big portions at affordable prices. Their BBQ Combo contains short ribs, chicken thighs, and thin cut of BBQ Beef(like bulgogi) with one scoop of mac salad and two scoops of rice for $ 8.50! They also have Spam Musubi for $ 1.85 — they add their sweet BBQ sauce between the Spam and rice which gives it that extra punch of flavor.
