Had the biscuits and gravy. Average sized portion. Quick service at the counter on a weekday morning. Will probably go back if in the neighborhood.

The first(and hopefully last) time I didn’t tip a server was at Mom’s Kitchen. After walking in and being told by the waitress to seat ourselves(while rolling her eyes), we sat, completely ignored, until I finally walked to the front and got our menus for us. The food took 45 minutes to come out(we ordered a BLT, one pancake, and a(burnt to a crisp) cheeseburger) and we were essentially invisible during our entire visit. Overall, the quality of the food wasn’t terrible; however, the horrible non-service provided by the waitress has officially crossed Mom’s Kitchen off our list of Saturday morning breakfast spots.

The worst coffee I have ever tasted. Sugar couldnt even help it. It tasted like cleaner and mold. I felt sick the rest of the day. Its amazing people still eat this low grade dog food. This is barely food. There are tons of breakfast places in kent that suck, this right on point. Wild wheat is the only place that serves real breakfast food that ive found.

Food was decent, service was good but the pricesare really high… other places nearby are half as pricey… won’t be back anyime soon besides, they do not offer a dinner service.

I had the biscuits and gravy here and the gravy has chunks of sausage! Hashbrowns were perfectly browned all around, not like that weak un-browned style. Service was excellent too, very fast and reasonably priced. Food tasted awesome, keep at it Mom’s ;]

Great food but the service is absolutely brutal. Unless your a regular. I sat for 15 minutes waiting just to finally get up and ask the dishwasher to bring me some water and I actually ordered my food with him as welll. Wow.

On Friday they have fish and chips and I come for that. I have had their Reuben sandwich and you get it with sauce on the side — really — too much effort to put it on — if I wanted to make a sandwich myself — I would stay home — and use better corn beef. I tried the potato soup and it is bland. Service is not that great and other items I have tried are bland and lower grade products.

My girlfriend and I usually go out for breakfast on the weekends, and we’ve been to Mom’s a number of times, but after today we will NOT be going back. The food has always been pretty good, we loved the omelets and coffee. Today their credit card machine was down, which is fine, I know things happen sometimes. I only had a card and the staff neglected to inform me that they were not accepting cards, until after we had eaten and were going up to pay. So here I am, standing at the register, my card in hand with my bill. Thats when she decides it will be a good time to tell me that they can’t accept cards. She said the machine went down just after we had walked in. It would have been nice to know before we ordered, then I could have planned for it. This is the point where I wish they could get lower than one star, because this is where she ruined it for me. I was asked to go to the bank, withdraw cash, and come back to pay. I thought maybe she would be apologetic, offer us free coffee or SOMETHING, but instead she said«Well its not like you really have a choice anyways, you already ate.» That rubbed me the wrong way to say the least. Then she asks for our driver’s license numbers and writes them down before we leave to the bank. When I get back I go in to pay and I’m hoping that after a few moments to calm down she would try and redeem herself a little bit. Instead I got more of the same attitude and she made it feel like it was my fault that her machine was down. Long story short, I will never go back to this place because they try to come across as a «family restaurant,» but the attitude of the staff is summed up in the one sentence I will never forget«Its not like you really have a choice anyways, you already ate.»

Will not be coming back here again. I’m a fairly regular customer here and today I received THE worst customer service ever. We went in, sat and ordered. Got our food, ate, it was great. Then we go to pay and the woman says their card machine is broken and they can only accept cash. We tell her we don’t have cash. She says we’ll have to go to the bank and get cash then come back and pay and she’s going to hold our ID info until then. I told her we’ve been there before and have never had to pay cash. I say it’s inconvenient for us to have to go all the way to the bank, get cash, and come all the way back. this is when I was blown away. the woman immediately starts copping a very serious attitude. she says«well there’s a sign on the door that says cash only» I tell her the sign wasn’t there when we arrived and she says«yeah because the machine stopped working only a few minutes ago» so it broke after we arrived and ordered. she knew and put up a sign but didn’t inform us. this is a very small restaurant, like 10 tables. I feel like she should have let us know. so I’m talking to her about the issue and she is just totally rude. I go here all the time and never have problems. I ask her if she can maybe take the 2 coffees off the bill to help make up for the inconvenience/gas I will have to use to go to the bank and come back. she looks at me like I’m crazy and her attitude just flies off the handle. some of the things she said included «you have to pay the full bill, you don’t have a choice» «I didn’t ASK for the machine to stop working» «I put a sign on the door, you should have seen it» I reminded her we were already seated when that must have occurred and she goes«well you should have looked» anyways we ended up driving all the way to the bank, waiting in the ATM line, getting cash and driving all the way back to pay out tab. She refused to take the 2 coffees off the bill. Her very rude attitude and comments will definitely keep me from coming back.

I am sad to say that the place has gone downhill. :( We used to LOVE this place. All though the servings are large, and the pricing great, the quality is low. We ordered three different meals and every one of them was barely warm. This has happened the last 2 times we’ve gone. They really need to change their brand of coffee too. At least in our opinion,

We had guests in town so were searching for a close place to grab breakfast. The Unilocal reviews seemed promising so we decided to give Mom’s Kitchen a try. The décor is old fashioned… almost like someones grandma’s house. They have a collection of mugs that they serve coffee in which I found somewhat eclectic. Pros: the Hashbrowns and Waffles were good. Our server was very friendly and kept our drinks filled. They have a small bookcase at the entrance stocked with paperbacks for reading. Cons: the coffee was bland, the«strawberry jam» looked and tasted like the fake strawberry gel that you find in grocery stores near the round mini angle food cakes. The bacon had an odd flavor and was slightly jerky chewy and the sausage links were black on the outside but a whitish green on the inside. The biscuit tasted really odd… yeasty and wet. All of the condiment bottles were sticky. Unfortunately, this was a no go for us and I don’t think we’ll be back.

Went in and got breakfast for lunch today. The chicken fried steak and eggs were pretty good. The service was quick and friendly. My buddy got a club sandwich that he said he was very happy with. The CFS came with actual cream gravy, which is the way it should be. The hash browns were prepared well and also very tasty. Good food + great service and quick to boot.

Mom’s Kitchen is the best breakfast spot I’ve found in Kent so far. Really good coffee served in big mugs by a friendly waitress who keeps the refills coming. Crispy, flavorful chicken fried steak covered in some really tasty sausage gravy. Even the toast was better-than-average here. The café itself is somewhat hidden in an industrial warehouse area set back a bit from the main road. Keep an eye out for the big yellow sign. More spacious inside than it appears from the front, the dining room is comfortable, airy, and nicely decorated in a ‘grandma’s house’ kind of way. Cool collection of salt & pepper shakers on display, too. Looking forward to returning next time I’m in need of a good breakfast in the area!

Sandwiches with cream cheese? I couldn’t pass up the long list interesting combinations on the lunch side to try the breakfast side of the menu. My Hawaiian Ham sandwich on sourdough was a sweet and sour marriage with slightly salty plain ham in the center. Very tasty and something I would get again and try at home even :-)! My side salad was very cold and fresh with sweet ripe tomato pieces and small shreds of cheddar cheese. My hubby built his own omelet and loved the crispy home fries. To go with his plain white toast was a wonderful honey pot filled with freezer strawberry jam(I asked) that tasted homemade. The waitress was VERY load and VERY perky and the coffee average… but the food was served so quick and was so good I couldn’t dock a star. Oh… and if there is a line or the wait is long… there are 2 bookshelves near the front door with paperback books that you can swap on the honor system. There are several tables that can seat 6 and we saw several takeout orders and even a couple that called ahead so their food was ready when they arrived.
