Safeway

Robert in the Butcher Block helped me with the purchase and cleaning of a crab and went out of his way to be friendly and check weights of the crabs an eagerly offered to clean the crab and while doing so engaged in friendly chat.
Another meat department employee was going out of his way to help an elderly woman in a wheel chair looking for a particular brand of humus. Not typically a meat department item, but helped anyway. The employee got her to the deli where she found the item.
I was excited to see Lance had been moved to the Safeway close to my home. I used to go out of my way to shop the Albertson’s store in Auburn near my mother in-​laws home. I noticed a huge improvement in the quality of produce after Lance arrived at that store. The main reason for shopping at Albertson’s was I could get some items at Albertson’s I could not get at my local Safeway until that changed about a year ago. The items I was looking for was chicken breast in the butcher block, Great fried chicken in the deli and quality in the fresh meat selection. The thing that stands out about Lance is when I have shopped at the stores he has run over the years (4 Corners, Auburn and now Kent Meridian) I see him on the sales floor checking out his store engaged with employees and customers and that seems to make all of the difference between an OK store and a great store.
As I passed the pharmacy I heard a gentleman that has waited on me in the past call out to a customer and greet him and asked about a surgery he recently had and wanted to know how he was doing. It felt nice to be in a store that was so engaged with their customers. Good job Safeway, I love my recently changed Safeway!

Very overpriced. All other grocers on kent east hill are gone. It sucks to have to drive to auburn to not be ripped off. And its christmas eve and they have no eggnog.

5 stars just for the cashier I had, Nancy. She was so sweet and conversational and even called me by name. Somebody give this woman a raise!!!
Also great prices and pretty easy to find what you’re looking for. :)

Safeway Safeway Safeway. To me all Safeway is the same. This one is awesome that it has Seahawk goods for sale. This Safeway is clean. Staff are friendly.

Really wonderful service! Everytime I come to Covington (for friends family or what have you) I usually come here to get small essentials that are better to get at a grocery instead of a gas station or bulk like Costco. Great place and friendly staff who can always recommend how to cook something quick for a sporadic weekday dinner.
Also, I’m not a huge fan of Starbucks usually. Typically, the staff at Starbucks are pretentious and often mistake my order.
However, the service and friendly faces I receive make me feel less guilty about the sugar-​y frap I’m about to consume! Baristas Nicole and Jeremy both have friendly faces and are more than happy to spark a good conversation! If there’s no line behind you of course!

Overall a standard Safeway, it’s not notably clean or dirty. They have the same items and prices that you’d find at other Safeways in the area.
Most of the interactions I have with checkout employees are at least average, then there are the other checkout employees who don’t acknowledge me in anyway way, shape, or form and will continue their conversations with each other as if I don’t exist. It’s those kinds of employees that got me to abandon Safeway as my regular store awhile back. Now I only come because I forgot something and I want to grab it quickly.

I appreciate ALL of the staff at Safeway. I’ve been shopping here for many years now and have always been pleased that the staff is consistently friendly and helpful. I especially give 5 stars to the floral department where the ladies who work there help above and beyond to make sure you have exactly what you are looking for and dress up any bouquet to suit your needs. Even when I don’t have a floral need I usually browse through just to see all of the beautiful arrangements they’ve created.
Safeway is a great place for your grocery and floral needs as well as banking and coffee.

Nice Clean Grocery Store, once you figure out its in the right location. Friendly staff. Fresh meat selection. Great prices.

Standard Safeway.
It has what we need, sometimes offers some pretty good deals, so… It does the job.
The bathrooms are always disgusting though, and that’s always annoyed me.

I really like this Safeway. It’s such a great location and there is a Starbucks inside. Great variety of products. Fresh produce. Friendly employees.

OMG… look at the pics… the guy told me that the food had been out for a FEW hours and nothing else fresh was coming up… that is so digusting.

Convenient and close to home. The store is always clean, but it is not always stocked to the best of it’s abilities. Sometimes I think they do a lot of their stocking during the days rather than at night and this causes are sorts of traffic jams in the aisles. The cold case of ready to drink beverages is poorly stocked. Other than that, this place is well kept. Plenty of open checkout lanes makes getting in and out easy.

I just love it how this Safeway is so close to home. Produce are fresh. Meat/​poultry/​seafood are always a great selection here.
I love their bakery here. They have the best pudding cake! Liquor and wine selection isn’t bad either. They also have a Starbucks inside, which is very convenient! Deli is just like any other deli, nothing to brag about.

This store was the Value Village when I was growing up. It’s so weird to see how much change the area has gone through over the years.
I appreciate the gas station, the Starbucks, and the clean and bright interior. I also appreciate that the lines aren’t too bad here. I hate grocery store lines. With a HUGE passion.
It’s got everything that I need at a grocery store with a large parking lot and a fair floral department. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s 3 minutes away from home.

This Safeway is one of the nicest and cleanest Safeway’s that I have visited. It is located on the corner where the old Value Village was. It is set up like most of your typical Safeway stores. This one is kept clean and organized though.
The staff they have at this particular site is really friendly and helpful. They actually appear like they want to help you and for the most part it seems sincere.
The best part about this location is the size of the parking lot. It is designed in a way where you never have to park too far from the entrance. Plus you never have to struggle to find a spot. The spaces are big enough where you don’t have to worry about that one particular creep that throws there door open into yours. (You know who you are)
All in all it is a nice go to place for all your basic grocery needs. Its clean, roomy, organized, and inexpensive.

Like other reviewers have said, it isn’t the worst Safeway and it isn’t the Best Safeway.
Convenient that there is a Starbucks inside, and I like the Made to order Deli Selections. Sometimes there is a family of Ducks that hang outside and that is kind of fun.

Ugh. Truly the worst Safeway ever. I end up going here often because it is right next to my house, but leave angry almost every single time. The produce section is always missing some essential ingredient, like bell peppers or basil, and the shelves are unattended to. I once found an extremely moldy box of blueberries sitting on the shelf of one of the isles, not hidden at all. How long must it have been just sitting there for it to get so extremely moldy? And no one noticed? Geez.
Also, I have not been able to find a few meats that I’ve wanted there, such as ground lamb.
OH, and the lines are always CRAZY LONG at the cash registers.
It just sucks, avoid it if you can.

I’ve been here two times now and both times I have been here the customer service has been amazing. Right off I walked in the store and started searching for something. I had someone come up to me to see if I needed help in finding something. The floral department looked amazing! Flowers looked amazingly fresh!

Customer service is above and beyond. These people just rock my world. And their sale prices — like all the Safeways — beat all. This staff is exceptionally well trained, though, and I cannot compliment them enough for their willingness to bend over backwards. My wife left her wallet in a cart in the parking lot in the pouring rain, and when she raced back to the store, she watched an employee collecting carts grab her wallet and run it into the customer service desk. Run! Trying to keep it dry, she thinks. Cash, cards, phone… everything safe and sound. And they refused a tip. Customers for life.
