Waitress was decent, however food/drink portion size wasn’t good for money, bacon was lukewarm, and overall just a bad experience. Not to mention 20+ min wait times to get our food(but it was New Years Day). I’ll stick with Black Bear Diner until I can find a better alternative

Got screwgooed on Christmas. Went with out of town family for dinner here. Didn’t have extremely high expectations. Waitstaff were nice but took 30 minutes before they took our order. After that took another 1 hour and 15 minutes til we got our food. Come on man you couldn’t refill our water or soda on that time? No offer of possible free beverages or discount? When the food did come it was cold looked like crap other than the burgers. What no dip for the wings? We spent over $ 100.00 bucks and this is the service??? Not sure if we will ever go back. If it was that busy as the manager there was saying let us know before hand. Then we can choose to stay or go. Denny’s might of been the better choice. I thought Shari’s was supposed to be a step up.

Very disappointed. Service was so slow and the man(could possibly be the manager) was chewing tobacco which was disgusting. Not going back there any time soon.

Wow, here waiting for a table. Service and seating is slow. But that is expected with a chain restaurant. The bigger issue is how rude and abrupt the manager was with me and my family. And the fact HEHASCHEWINGTOBACCOINHISMOUTH. Disgusting and unprofessional to have a huge bulge in your bottom lip. Gross

It was ok. Nothing else. My daughter wanted to go to Shari’s so that’s where we went. Usually I’d go someplace a little closer to home. Got my standard breakfast fare… couple over easy, bacon, hashbrowns and an English muffin. Coffee. Eggs were small. They bring you a small pot of coffee to your table. When I refilled I only got one cup out of the small pot. It seemed as it had not been filled before being delivered to the table. Upon tasting the coffee it was ice cold. Not lukewarm… but ice cold.

Love the pecan pie. But the best item is hidden. Its not on the menu. Its a secret! Its the pickles. The manager Mike did not want to sell them to us. But he finally relented and figured out how to charge for them and sent me home with a container of the best tasting pickles ever. He thinks he will get in trouble with senior mgmt. Mgr Mike deserves to be complimented for paying attention and giving a customer what he wanted.

I’ve had some bad experiences at the location in Covington. I decided to drive the 6 miles to this location. Was not disappointed. The manager was awesome, and our server Ullexa was amazing(especially since she was the only one on!) Highly recommend this location.

I have had breakfast and dinner here while in town visiting. The food is very good, the service is excellent, with a nice atmosphere. In this fast food world that we live, it is refreshing to sit down for a nice meal. I will be back for sure!

Hmmm why do we go to these places once we have one bad experience after another? Do we like to see if things are going to change when we know there is no way it’s going to happen. It was like when Obama was screaming change. We was like yeah he is going to change some stuff! when really we knew he wasn’t going to change nothing. But hey we still went for it. I guess that what we get here. Faith in humanity? Maybe the cook and server is going to care about how things come out. Oh and if the dish washer is reading this please clean that dirty carry that you put the clean dishes on and bring out. Yuck

Good breakfast. This is my second time dining here and I’ve really enjoyed their French toast.

Service was great! Breakfast had a problem. I ordered potato pancake breakfast with ham and eggs. The potato pancakes were deep fried bricks, I asked them to be replaced with hash browns and they charged me Extra for hash browns. They forgot to toast English muffins, and they were loaded with margarine. My sister had the biscuit breakfast so she gave me a biscuit, it was fine.

Yikes. Went here with my mother today for lunch. Service was good, but that’s the only reason this gets three stars. I had the spinach omelet thinking it was going to be simple. I’m not a picky person but I was disappointed to see my omelet was tiny, maybe only 2 eggs. There were so many toppings. See, I like blue cheese just as much as the next person but damn. I scraped it off and everything was good after that. :) Loved the hashbrowns!

Id give this place a zero if i could. Came in on a Saturday night. Waited about 20 minutes to get my order and had to actually get up and find a waiter to get a refill on beverages. Staff was completely unprofessional, random customers walking behind the counter and acting like it was playtime. Our waiter had his head directed at the floor and didnt even have the courtesy to ask if everything was okay. I am going to avoid this place from now on… and possibly all Shari’s

I don’t know why the idea of any Shari’s in general weirded me out, but my boyfriend drug me here for breakfast one morning and I was pleasantly surprised! The coffee was delicious, not bland at all and they had a nice selection of creamers. I got the Shari’s standard breakfast with bacon and woah. So good! They have this«homemade»(in quotations because I guess I’m not sure where it’s made) Jam that is literally to die for. I’m weird about jams and jellies and this one makes me one happy little breakfast eater. If you join the rewards program you get a free piece of pie! I don’t really like pie, but it looks like something I’d happily destroy with a fork. Oh yeah, best part? They are FAST. Sunday morning, during the church rush we were in & out in less than 45 minutes! Regular breakfast spot for sure!

Been to this place since ’06. And this time after a hard Super Bowl game, we got hungry. So we ended up here and by checking-in on Unilocal,I can do my review and perhaps add this to one of my possible City of Kent Best Lists in the future. I love this diner; it is better than Denny’s, better than IHop, better than most. The quality that you get in a hamburger, a chicken strip, a t-bone steak, an omelet, and their specialties in pie are very good! The prices went up a little this time, unfortunately. The waitress this time was ok; I can tell she’s new, but she tried her best. I ordered their Southern Fried Chicken Strips and Fries. They are consistent as always, very crunchy strips, hearty, real chicken meat. Fries were fried perfectly and good as always. My wife had The Bavarian, which is a pretzel burger and hers tasted like a Cuban sandwich, as it had mustard and meat inside; it was very good! Restrooms are clean as always. 5-Star

I’m a fan of Shari’s. I’ve never had a bad experience at any Shari’s. On this evening, we were seated quickly. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Our meals were fixed perfectly. I got trio of salad, turkey/cranberry ½ sandwich and the artichoke soup. It was perfection! It was so much that I could share with my dining partner. My dining partner had a steak and he said it was delicious. If I could give Shari’s some advice it would be to renovate their bathrooms. They just look old and dingy. Even though the restrooms are probably clean, they just look old and shabby.

I understand this location has been here for a few generations. It has lasted through time with grace. We had breakfast, served all the time, and the senior menu over 60 is really great. All the same things just smaller. My omelet was perfect. Coffee is credible. Really friendly servers. If you’re in the Kent area, this is the place to go.

I’ve been coming to this old Shari’s since I was a child so this is by far my favorite Shari’s location to go to. Many people I used to come here with are no longer alive so this place always brings back fond memories. The place has changed its looks a little bit with the big fancy pie case up front now and the big sign above it that says«Shari’s Bakery». But for the most part, it’s still the same old Shari’s in Kent. The bathrooms can get a little crowded because at least in the ladies room, there is only 2 stalls and one sink. It’s usually decently clean in there. I went there today, on a Sunday, just after 1pm and it was super busy. There was a wait to get seated and a wait to get food. The waitress was doing her best with how busy she was but she still made sure we got everything we needed. I was surprised to see it so busy because normally it’s pretty dead in there, but I guess I did go in after church got out. The food is typical chain restaurant food so nothing special there and the customer service is pretty typical there too. The crowd of people in there today made it kinda loud but it wasn’t intolerable. In all if you want a decent and not too crazy expensive sit-down restaurant meal, this is a great spot for you! If you want fine dining, avoid this one.
