Best custard around. I love coming home to this hometown favorite! Creamy. Delicious. It’s a delight for Kent. My favorite will always be mint chocolate chip.

love the daily flavor options of the custard but I gotta say they totally rip you off in terms of price when compared to serving size on their sundaes. you get a bigger sundae for a dollar at McDonald’s when compare in size to the small at this place. while we will be back for cones we will probably never order anything in a dish again

Hubby and I are so disappointed that what was once our favorite ice cream shop in Summit County has dropped in quality and raised their prices, shrunk their servings and lost their homemade quality! Their small waffle cones are now the size of an itty bitty nutty buddy. They have obviously resorted to a mix used by most soft serve industrialized soft serve manufacturers. It just ain’t what it used to be. The kids must have taken over. We will not be back.

My wife and I went to Stoddards many times before, and it was really good. This time we went was the worst excuse for custard I ever had. We both got the flavor of the day which was strawberry. It tasted like ice milk that’s been frozen. No taste really at all, I was disappointed because we drove 30min to get it. It was so bad I wanted to go back in and show them it. I’ll probably never come back now, I dont know if it’s new owners or they just stopped making a good product.

We’ve been going to Stoddard’s since I was a kid. Love the place! The people are always friendly and the frozen custard is soooo good. I’m a huge fan of the blueberry cheesecake.

The vanilla and chocolate custards are creamy and not overwhelmingly sweet. A nice local institution to visit after a meal out.

Very melts, but it still gets a five in my book. The tin roof sundae is great!

The custard is very good… but I’ve been to some other custard stands that offer way more for less money. The nice thing is that they do have a new flavor every single day. The downside, they have a new flavor every single day. So, if you find something you like, buy some to go as well! They will have it again, but it never fails that it will be on a day that you can’t make it! Hint: sign up for the Flavor of the Day email and you’ll know what they have before you go.

I’ve enjoyed good custard here, but several service missteps. On my last visit they had to make a simple vanilla cone three times as they kept dropping it. But here’s the thing, I ask for a vanilla cone, then dipped into a dish. So all they really have to do is pour custard into a dish, then put a cone on top of it. Problem is you can’t tell them this, because they have to close the little window after taking your order. They don’t re-open the window again until they deliver your order. If I recall correctly, parking is still a gravel lot, and the building is nothing to write home about. They do have a wonderful collection of family and customer photos all over the walls, and they promote their decades of serving great custard to the community. Look, I know it’s tough to find good help, but a little training or re-visiting of previous training couldn’t hurt. With better service, every review has the potential of being 5-stars!

Decent ice cream. They seem to have a good selection of flavors, but the service was off. The employees didn’t seem to have a good process in place for getting the orders made — almost as if they were all new hires. Orders had to be repeated and when we were handed our first cone the employee couldn’t tell us what it was. It’s ice cream though and we enjoyed it.

Stoddard’s is a Kent, OH staple. The place has been around for over 60 years, and they’re still going strong. I’m not generally a big fan of custard. It’s a bit too sweet and too heavy for my liking. However, on a hot summer’s day, Stoddard’s is a great reprieve. I usually only go when their flavor of the day is appealing(I almost always go when they offer either peanut butter or pumpkin). Vanilla is a good standby when I find myself there on a random occasion. If you’re a custard fan, you’re likely to love this place, but their frozen yogurt(not the tart kind) and their hard ice cream are nothing special. As another reviewer mentioned, seating is limited, but I’ve never actually seen the place completely packed. Unlike another reviewer, I have never had a problem with rude employees. Everyone has been quite friendly when I visit.

Great custard and some of the rudest employees you’ll find anywhere! We’ll never go back!

Great little frozen custard place… Love the vanilla, but the«special» flavors are a little hit or miss for me, sometimes they taste a little too artificial. The pictures that kim D. mentioned are pretty amusing. Minor annoyances are that there is less seating here than at some of the other ice cream shops around, and they seem to be a little stingy with the napkins. I’ve enjoyed the custard, but for some reason this place just lacks a bit of spark for me. I’ll definitely go back, but it might not always be the first choice on my list.

I remember going to Stoddard’s as a child, and I am 53! I stopped this past spring to see if it was still as good as I remembered– and it is. Cool retro pictures on the walls– don’t miss them. Now it is a toss up between Stoddard’s and Rosati’s; I love them both…
