Only thing I have to say is the will — call counter, after making a 10A appointment, made me wait until after 1030A to pick up my 1 case of product. Was pretty frustrating, what’s the point of making an appointment if you can’t stick with it? Especially since it was only 1 case.

I took a small restaurant in Sumner over in July, it is something that I hope to bring my entire family(6 kids) into at different stages in early years to teach them the value of money on work ethic, that I believe the younger generation greatly lacks. Anyway, this is the first business that I have ever owned and was basically handed the keys and told good luck. I the last six months I have gone from a very naïve, under qualified and simply overwhelmed restaurant owner into halfway having my stuff together. The first couple of months I worked seven days a week 12 hours a day in the restaurant and then went shopping at several different places for the food for the week when I got off. I was approached by FSA once and blew them off, I was approached by Phil Trout and pretty much told him that I had heard stories about delivery companies and the way the hike prices up secretly and slowly. I had tried the«free» delivery from Costco Wholesale and found out that they raised the price of almost every item by an average of $ 5 and the produce would show up half rotten. Phil said«give us a chance, I have someone in mind who has worked for us for years and used to run restaurants, he will take good care of you.» A week later I sat down and had a price comparison with Randy, at first I was unsure of him, I had my guard up, and very little money to spend. He was able to negotiate prices to fit my budget and price matched me on a couple items that I was driving around each week purchasing. In these few short months I have built a great rapport with Randy, I trust him to give me honest answers and I feel loyalty to Sysco, that said, when I find a better price somewhere else because of a sale going on I tell him why I am not ordering that product from him. A few weeks ago a winter farmers market opened boasting fresh local produce. I was urged and excited to check it out as I would like to keep my money going back into the community that supports me. Today Sysco had me out for a meet and greet(sales pitch) that was awesome. I was able to try several new menu ideas, I was introduced to someone who will help me put a new menu together(literally page by page) and I was given a tour of their facility. Wow! It is huge, the gal that gave me the tour explained exactly why Sysco prices are sometimes a little higher than, say Costco Wholesale and it made complete sense to me. And I was extremely happy to find out that though this company is massive and country wide a lot of their items are locally grown, produced and developed. Randy gave me a ride up to their offices so that I would not have a difficult time trying to navigate Kent on my own, I don’t know that area at all. During the car ride I learned how small the food service industry is. Randy was a manager at the very first restaurant I was hired by when I was fifteen. We know all of the same people, it was a great conversation. Long story short, I respect, trust and enjoy my relationship with Sysco and would highly recommend them to others. I no longer spend 15 hours a week driving around from restaurant supply to restaurant supply store, I am able to spend that time with my family now. Thank you Sysco.

AS someone who has been eating SYSCO supplied food at the otherwise excellent PARK-RIDGENURSINGCENTER in Jackson Park I would say that at least what they supply to Park-Ridge is barely edible. The complaints by the 25% of the patients here who are able to still voice complaints are loud and clear. The hamburger meat is of the lowest grade, as are the cuts of meat. The fish is pap. The vegetable occasionally still have some taste. I do not know whether better quality is available of course.
