Stumbled upon this bar while on a trip to Kent. Nice selection of beer, great atmosphere, and the outdoor seating is wonderful.

The Zephyr is definitely my favorite bar in Kent. The drinks are generally better priced than other places nearby and the bartenders are only rude if you are. The bottom floor has a bar, pool table, jukebox, bathrooms, and a large outdoor area. The second floor has a patio, tables, and bathrooms. The third floor has a bar and patio. Whoever said there are 3 bars must have been too drunk to remember the night correctly.

One of the better spots to hit up while your in kent with 3 stories of music and dance or hidden booths for chatting 3 bars and a 3 story full deck outside! !!!

Rude staff, overpriced drinks, and a really cramped first floor. It gets 2 stars only because their patio is pretty awesome.

I really liked this place. The bartenders were really nice, and I was able to get a drink quickly. The crowd and atmosphere were good as well. The bathrooms were clean, and it was a really fun bar to go to in kent.

Solid college bar. Upstairs opens at 10 on the weekends and is the best part of the bar, best bartenders too.

we’ve always had good times at the zephyr. can’t complain. it’s a good summertime hangout and you won’t have to worry about obnoxious frat guys hanging here.

I’ve had an awesome time every time I have been here. This is usually because it’s a home visit and I’m hanging out with a friend that loves to have a good time, but don’t let that take away from Zephyr. The place is awesome because it has 3 levels, indoor and outdoor. There are two bars, levels 1 and 3: the 1st floor is more like a sit down and relax bar, the 3rd floor is get your drink and socialize, maybe even dance. The drinks can be pricey if you don’t know your way around, but there are always decent specials and unless you are spoiled and picky, you can adapt to these offerings after a few rounds. You can get lots of different vibes going around this bar, so it’s easy to find a crowd you like and stick with that one. That’s why I like this place so much.

Three bars in one, the Zephyr is remarkably average for a complex of its size. I came here the first day Yuengling was being served — no complaints there. The atmosphere came off as hipster — PBR and all. The jazz musician that came in to play was quite good, although I suspect larger bands have been here in the past. I found the best thing about this bar to be the patio. You can’t beat Christmas lights hanging around trees and poles. The clientele are generally older and more mature. You seldom see a frat boy in here trying to pick up girls — his game will most likely not work here. The staff wasn’t horrible, but it’s nothing I’d rave about either. If you’re here early enough(before 10 pm M-Th and before 11 pm F-S), you can order from Taco Tontos and their pick-up window they have facing the patio; however, you have to call first to place an order. They’re always a treat, and can help make you feel considerably less drunk if you’re already wasted by then and have to drive back. As a college town hipster bar, I find that the fact that it’s there is convenient — I personally don’t like the popular bars. As a hipster bar in general, though, it’s just meh.

Multiple bars inside and out. This place reminds me of a treehouse. There are staircases inside and out and many places to sit, from booths and picnic tables to bar stools. If it’s not too late you can order Taco Tanto’s direct from the bar outside, they have their own window. Highly recommended. If you open up a tab they do hold about $ 25 on your credit card for a few days, which I wasn’t too happy with. Otherwise a great place to hang out.

The Zephyr is a great bar with 3 levels of pain! I would suggest avoiding the second floor bathrooms but definitely do recommend this bar to anyone going to Kent.

I don’t love the Zephyr. Many of my friends do, and I really don’t get it. Yes, they do have an awesome patio, I will give them that. And there is a significant lack of undergraduates and DBs. But my praise pretty much ends there. Their drinks are overpriced compared to nearby bars and their bartenders aren’t the most amiable. The inside of the bar is uncomfortable– there’s little seating, but it’s not the type of bar you go to to dance. The music is too loud to hear what your friends are saying, so you can;t actually have a conversation if you’re inside. When I find myself out and about in downtown Kent, I’d much rather go elsewhere for a good time.

I recently moved to Kent and wanted to find relaxed local bar to hang my hat on occasion. Much to my surprise there were three pinball machines. I like the eclectic crowd and selection of spirits. Its is nice to get away from the college bar scene and feel like a grown up. I am able to enjoy a Cavs game, play pinball and listen to great tunes all in one night. I won’t ever complain.

3 pinball machines. The Dark Knight — in OK working order. while i think all of the bumpers, jets, pads, and the 3 scoops operated well, the crane is broken. Monopoly — was turned off. when i turned it on the bartender told me that i could drop money in it, but it would just piss me off. so i didn’t. Austin Powers — I didn’t play this machine because it was in use by a hot chick who was rolling it. It appeared to be in all working order, but I’m not exactly sure. In between balls she said that there were no problems with it outside of it being Austin Powers.

This was the Kent hipster bar before that term was being used daily. The real counter cultural and against the grain people were drinking at The Dome bikini/strip club, the Dog House or other hillbilly bars. Not at the Zephyr. Weird dudes.

Huge patio. No meatheads. My kind of place. Who won the game? Nobody here will likely no the answer. I first started visiting this place when I my ID said that I was 25 years of age, kind of like I finally am now. There was a fellow there who truly despised my frequenting this place because his ex-lady took a liking to me. So, he had decided to expose the fact that I am not actually the age my ID claims me to be. Unfortunately for him, I was there to celebrate my 21st birthday. Fond memories of time spent at the Zephyr. This place is a great piece of counter-culture.

The«Indie» bar in Kent to go to. Little to no frat boys and good music. They always have good $ 5 or $ 6 pitchers and other specials. The best part? The patio is where a building was torn down long ago and now it is a huge open place with room for probably 100. They even added a 3 floor covered patio with heaters for the winters which helps with Ohio’s no smoking ban. If you hate the frat party this is your place to go!
