For a guy who was born and raised in Chicago, I’m very picky with where I get my Gyros. Never bothered to try gyros from any place here in Michigan. I ended up trying out random places for the fun of it. For a while I haven’t found the right place. That was until I found The Pita House, I walked in, greeted right away. Ordered a gyro, they had a subway kind of set up, which was new to me at a gyro joint. Added some chick peas, lettuce, more delicious add-ons. The gyro was huge! After the first bite, it took me back to Chicago. I highly recommend this place! One of my favorite spots.

First time here found this place tucked back in a strip mall, so glad we stopped! Ordered the gyro and it was huge, loaded with fresh ingredients(you must try the pickled turnips). The meat was cut off the skewer in front of us and they don’t skimp. Also try the humus. We will be back. Great place to eat and the price was very reasonable.

We were crazy for some gyros and stopped in Oldtown in Grand Rapids, MI but they were not open yet, waiting for inspectors. So we shlepped all the way to the SE Kentwood area for a fat warm juicy tangy cucumbery oniony lettucy succulent soft delicious lamb slices on that thick soft pillowy gyro bread. We decided to get sides like greek salads and eggplant salads, and soft drinks. When I unwrapped my gyro it fell apart in my hands. I brought it up to the counter and the fellow gave me the stinkeye. It could have been a dried out one from the top. So I got a new one and that one was even worse. Thin thin thin, dried out, crumbled when you tried to add anything. It was like a cheap imitation og what some factory was passing off as a gyro bread. Disgusting that such an integral part of a gyro is crumbling and useless. The meat was old and dried out also! just huge fat poorly sliced old strips of salty lamb mix. No tzatziki on the side of course. I just gave up trying to eat this old on the cheap and crappy atitude of the sandwich maker. We saw the owner of Pita House at the uptown store and waved that we would see him next time. He sits and eats with us. I am sorry to give such a bad report but truly I was shocked at the terrible loss of quality of the food. We wont be back.

Conviently located by our hotel. The food was good. Wasn’t as good as my favorite gyro place in Phoenix, but for a fast, convenient, and reasonably priced place, it was good!

The gyro and falafel wraps are my go-to lunches on the run. Fresh, crisp veggies and wonderful flavor.

I’ve been here many times and have to say the gyros are very good but not as good as the ones at bosna express. I will say they are two different styles but the ones at the pita house are good as well. I myself order the food to go. Don’t really like the dine in they have but if you don’t feel like taking food home then I guess it’d be alright. Other then that the food is good and I love the fries.

Best Gyros in town at any one of their locations, and by far the best Greek fries I’ve ever had! There are a lot of places to get a ‘gyro’, in this town or anywhere else; even Arby’s thinks they have one, but these are not on the same level as The Pita House. There is good reason for the many awards that have been given to this family business; the food is that good! And it doesn’t stop at the gyros. The main reason I usually go here is for the Greek fries! I have tried various versions of these fries at many places in Michigan and other states; no one has yet to surpass the Pita House. Many places have claimed that their food items are like ‘crack’, but the Pita House does not make this boast; they should! The Greek fries alone are worth a trip to any of their locations around the Grand Rapids area. As if this was enough, and it is; there is still more to love on their menu. The tabbouli and fatoosh salads are handmade everyday and are not the same as a ‘deli’ at your grocery store might offer, if they do at all. These are the real deal and a delight to your taste buds. Got kids that are not so sure about what you are eating? They have not had macaroni and cheese wedges before, I’ll bet. Otherwise, there is standard fair for the less adventuresome. Even the beverages are not of this land. Ever wanted to try Turkish coffee, before you try making it yourself at home? Yes, they will make it for you here. We used to like coming here because the pitas were well put together and tasted good. But the last time we went it looked like some untrained person slapped it together. It was hard to eat. Won’t be back for a while unfortunately. I did call the owner about it and I hope they address it.

I stopped for lunch on my way to the airport. I had the Lebanese Gyro platter. When they brought me the platter I thought I should have brought a friend. Very healthy portion and most all of it was inner cuts and moist. Charged extra($ 0.50) for Tzatski sauce, but hey i could go through a bucket of it if someone didn’t slow me down. Been passing this place for over a year. Not anymore. I’ll be back on my next visit

Sami’s has always been a stand out for Mediterranean food in the gr metro area. The food is solid with a lot of options. Con I think there a bit steep in price for there pita/wraps, I can get very similar quality pitas/wraps a mile down the road for an avg of $ 2 less.

Meh. Ordered a Falafel sandwich not knowing I’d have to build it from scratch. Sorry, not what I expected from a Gyro shop. If i wanted to build my own, I would have stopped elsewhere. The falafel itself was bland and not at all good. There are far better falafel shops in the GR area.

The first time might have been a fluke and I got a good one. But tonight I stopped in hoping for a repeat but I was let down. I’m no expert on middle eastern food(I’ve been to Saudi Arabia twice this year so far) but I’ve had my fair share. And this was below quality. The meat was cut too thick, it was about ¼″ and since I was the first one in there in a while I got the outside desert dry meat, not appetizing. When asked if I wanted«cucumber sauce» I happily obliged but hen she slathered about a cup of it on the pita I was a little dismayed, it was a bit much. There was little to no taste on the whole gyro, if I stop in again next time in here I want to try the schwarma, the stuff I had last month in Saudi will be my control test.

I ate lunch at the pita house. Food was OK nothing special. I paid $ 14 for chicken swarma(sp?), small salad and a coke. I thought this was over priced. The coke was 1.99 then they wanted to charge 50 cents for refill, feeling nickel and dimed.

Great place for lunch. You can tell them everything you want to make a delicious pita. They have yummy cucumber sauce! Lots of vegetarian options, too!

I had the worst meal here. The place was empty when we walked in. That should have been my first clue. The pita tasted like cardboard. The meat, even the chicken, was processed strips. The moussaka and dolmas were OK, but the gyros were terrible.

I’ve been to the middle east on many an occasion so I can provide a scale. This was extremely average. Ordered a Chicken shwarma… which is supposed to be thin slices of chicken, instead I got mushy minced chicken. Either serve it fresh or don’t bother serving it at certain times. Ate half and went over to Chipotle for a burrito. As for the other menu items, feel free to try.

Pita house is a small little restaurant by the mall. I had the Junior Wrap which is shwarma with cucumber sauce on a pita. Order a side of hummus for dip with a couple dolma and you’ve got a great healthy lunch. Fantastic Mediterranean place!

I am visiting the area on business and Kentwood MI is jam packed with chain-food. So, being me, I have started looking for the exceptions. The Pita House/Sami’s Gyro is a local based, 4 store chain. At first impression, it reminds me of one of those Americanized Chinese-carry-out-in-a-strip-mall joints. Meaning; ‘it may be(barely) adequate but certainly not authentic’. This may not be the most ‘homemade’(I suspect some canned, imported prepared stuff)…but they kick it. I ordered the ‘Tour of Lebanon’ which for $ 12 included Greek salad(my request), falafels, kibbe, 3 different savory mini ‘pies’ stuffed grape leaves and babagahanooj… with a pita on the side. Yowsa! If not the best I’ve had… who gives a damn… it was all delicious, very satisfying and very thoughtfully and pleasingly put together and presented. It looked 100% like the pic on the wall!(actually, better…) It’s what I eat out for… good food prepared by caring hosts. Give it a try.
