We recently had a party of 8 meeting at McNally’s for dinner on a Thursday. We didn’t know they had changed to the fall schedule and weren’t open on Thursdays anymore. But rather than turn us away with an empty stomach, the cook, bartender, and owner opened the restaurant on their day off and fed us all. Thanks again guys, you really made our night! If you have never had a McNally’s steak, do yourself a favor and make the short drive past Kernville and have one. You will never be the same after. It will forever be the steakhouse, you compare all other steakhouses too. But you will never find an equal!

This place is an institution and well worth a visit. By far one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The porterhouse is melt in your mouth tender and perfectly seasoned. Some of the best employees you’ll ever meet and really go the extra mile for customers. Feels like your at home. If you haven’t been here it’s worth the short trek from Kernville or Isabella.

We dined at McNally’s Steak House on August 21 with a group of 10 friends and were as usual«not disappointed» with the superb steak dinner. Our son had the«Logger» and ate the whole thing! Go there to find out about the«Logger»! We all had steaks and the prime rib and the beef was so tender and flavorful! Wonderful salads, vegetable tray, and baked potatoes. Terry, keep up your excellent restaurant! You are definitely a 10+ in fine dining in the Kernville area. Would love«Logger» tee shirts made up for all who attempt the experience! Make up all sizes including 2XL and maybe 3XL! So enjoyed seeing you this trip! Linda S. from Laguna Beach, CA

The food is always good, but not worth the long drive. We were ½ through and in walks 30 – 40 outlaw motorcycle gang members(Mongrol) Come to find out it was their annual river run. We got the hell out of there. don’t know if there was any trouble. Know what would of happened if some Hello Angels would of walked in? Sat August 152015

My wife and I had rib eye steaks which were perfect!!! The blue cheese salad was unreal and the baked potato came with butter, sour cream and chives. And our waitress was the best!!! Will be back again — thanks for the great dinner at a great value!

Note: the address to Apple maps is wrong. It’s 15 miles north of Kernville, not in the actual town. This place is so fantastic and unique! The steak was cooked to perfection and the staff was so accommodating. It felt like walking into someone’s home, not a restaurant. I can’t see why anyone would write a negative review about this place, it’s a ton of fun with great food!

We went to McNally’s by accident as there were not many places in Kernville that could accomodate our dietary needs, but McNally’s could! We didn’t have reservations but did get there pretty early so we were able to be seated right away! Everyone that worked there was incredibly friendly and helpful, the portion sizes of our prime rib were just ridiculous, I could have made three meals of that huge piece of really delicious steak! Mud pie… amazing!!! Loved everything about it!

Ever notice a negative review that was done by people with little to no friends? When I do, I think it is B.S. that is the case with McNally’s. I have been many times, always in the Summer when I am camping. Great food, strong drinks. Last Summer I sat at the bar(Where you can see the kitchen) and had a «Tri tip Burger» It was the best burger I have ever had in my life. For the record, I have lived a long, burger filled life.

My family and I love, LOVE, L-O-V-E this place. Restaurant: Delicious! Everything I’ve every ordered in fantastic. Service is great too. Burger Stand: Amazing! They use the same awesome quality beef as the restaurant. Beautiful views as you wait. Cash only. Lodge: We stay in the trailers on site. They’re not beautiful but they’re *clean* which is the most important thing!(They’ve got sort of kitschy 70’s camper vibe going on.) They’ve got all the amenities — towels, linens, kitchen supplies, fridge/oven/stove — and the location is second to none. Great hiking trails. Steps away from the river. Fishing in an idyllic setting. Great spot for horseshoes. Fire pit is lovingly cared for by a sweet and salty local who plays great tunes. We’ll be back again next year!

Went here for valentines day tonight 2÷14÷15. We had reservations for 7pm and didn’t get seated till 7:30pm…why did I make reservations to wait that long? So we ordered and the waitress comes back 10 minutes later and says they are out of baked potatoes. How does a steakhouse run out of baked potatoes on what I’m assuming is there busiest night of the year… it’s called planning people. So my steak comes out and we ordered it to be split which costs 10 bucks and they don’t even cut it in half for you which surprised me. So once I cut it open it wasn’t cooked anywhere close to how I ordered it. How sad a steakhouse that can’t cook steak. Since there wasn’t baked potatoes we all got what was the blandest steak fries id ever had. Moral of the story… this place blows and ruined my valentines day. Next time I’m in the Kernville area id be better off at McDonalds then this overpriced dump.

We finally made it up to Mcnallys a few months ago and our experience was great! The service was very good, the steaks were one of the best we’ve ever had, fresh salad and great rustic atmosphere! We will definitely go back!

This place has a lodge, a mini grocery store, a full service steakhouse, and a hamburger stand. My review is only for the hamburger stand. The hamburger stand is a great place for delicious burgers, fries, fresh brewed iced tea, shakes and ice cream. A welcome relief from playing outdoors all day. The food is great and the crew is super nice. Thank you Harry & Kathy and crew for making my time there memorable.

Love, love, love getting away to McNally’s! Our meal was perfection from start to finish. Black bean soup & crisp cool salad are a great way to start and add an order of mushrooms ;-). And the pickles, super yum. Fairview Special is our fav with the amazing fresh hot baked potato and YOU get to add as much butter & sour cream as you want!!! The shrimp were perfect and the steak? OMG out of this world, watch out Ruth Chris perdy sure McNally’s is way better without the cost! Keep up the great works Terry and the McNally crew!

Review on the McNally’s Burger stand: After not catching anything but vitamin D on second day at camp(first day caught 3!!) my cousin and I thought we would get some burgers from local this spot we’ve passed by a few times in the past. It was packed with lots people! Tourists and Locals! so I thought why not lets get some BURGERS!!! It smelled great outside! There lots of seating for the guests, to top it off your in a beautiful scenery!!! with mountains everywhere! plus the sound of a flowing river just makes everything better!(your even a minute or two walk away to enjoy your meal by the river!) its truly breathtaking always up at the Kern! The sweet lady who took my order was super nice and also were the rest of the employees there. Service is great everyone is ready to feed you quick! I ordered 2 of their famous McNally’s BACONCHEESE burgers, the chili cheese fries and regular fries; it all came out to a WHOPPING $ 24 n some change… Yes it is a little bit pricey for just a burger and fries/chili fries, but its not a small burger, its a 6 ounce patty! pretty heavy! I love the fact that its an All American made burger with all the right fixins’. None of that blue cheese crap or weird toppings. Unfortunately after the first bite I noticed one HUGE problem! the patty was really dry! and hard to chew!!! bummer! this burger had more bite than the fish all weekend! Don’t get me wrong, it was really good but just dry for my taste, I prefer medium, maybe I should have requested it, next time for sure! Either way, it did have some flavor that you just wanted another bite when finished, gotta give it to the chef who made the patty, it was super tasty and not a bit of game! At last! the chili cheese fries were incredible! really unique with the flavor, Ive never had chili that tasted like that! All I remember was I should have ordered 2 rounds! It gave off such a robust flavor! This was a meal of its own! super hearty and really good! Just wish the portion was a little bigger! The meat in the chili fell apart bite after bite! I love good chili! More please!!!

This is for the steakhouse: honestly it was more if a 2.5 in my opinion. My steak was ordered medium rare and came out to me almost completely raw. After sending it back and trying again it was so covered in garlic that I literally could not eat it. My boyfriends meal was fine and he enjoyed it. We ordered the same thing. The burger joint is good, a bit overpriced for what you get, but that’s mostly location. The shakes are tasty on a warm day. It isn’t fast food though so be prepared to wait a few minutes.

Rustic & charming — with PHENOMENAL steaks! Crazy goodness in the middle of a very rural setting. This is exactly the kind of place that I love to find. A little off the beaten path, with awesome food and a quaint ambiance. The inside is much more charming than it appears from the outside. There’s a full bar. And who doesn’t love a decked out baked potato? My EX& I went here a couple of times. But I took a friend here during vacation and she & I shared a dinner. Their biggest steak & it was a MONSTER! I think that we each got our own ‘side salad’ & split the rest. YUM! My friend asked our server, who was probably in his 60’s or more, where we could purchase a deck of cards — we were on vacation & wanted to play some ‘Gin Rummy’ or ?? It was late in the day & most places were already closed in that small rural community. He said that he’d find out & showed up a little later with a ‘slightly used’ deck of cards. He played it down and said«it was just laying @ here». I doubt it – someone went home & got it.. .. .. .. . It was heartwarming — to say the least :)

Just north of Kernville, on your way to the Trail of 100 Giants you will pass by an unassuming little lodge. Upon further inspection you will find a steakhouse. On even further inspection and with quite a long line of fans in front of it you will find a small burger shack run by the very same steakhouse, So the idea here is they use all their scraps from all the best cuts to make you the burger of your dreams. My boyfriend claimed these were once in a lifetime kind of burgers. Big claim I thought. «You’ll want to drive here just to have one again» he said… well he was RIGHT!!! The McNally burger is what we ordered. We added in some cheese and bacon and I opted for their homemade special sauce and extra pickles. The toppings were minimal but perfection. The meat alone would of been a fantastic find and meal. That burger was fit for a fork! Tender, juicy, well seasoned and great char on both sides, thank you burger chef! And oh the bacon! Smoky, delicious, melt in your mouth fat. It was enough to leave you speechless. The special sauce was delicious and not over dressed, the perfectly tart dills helped cut through all the yummy fat I was consuming. I am in love with this burger, fully blown love. I can’t believe I am going to say this but they have single handedly dethroned In N Out in my heart. Sure me and In N Out will still have our time together cuz they are so local but I am happy to keep my long distance relationship with McNally’s and no one is happier about that than my waist line. OHGODITWASGOOD!!! I want to go back, right now!
