Needed a quick bite while out, so went in and asked if I could get the buffet to go. They smiled and handed me a container which I filled with General Tso’s Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Cheese Wontons and Noodles. Delicious and great price at $ 4.99/lb. Will definitely return!

The food is typical Chinese Buffet food… nothing extravagant. My only complaint is the $ 10.99 price plus $ 1.49 drink. Seemed a little steep to me. The food itself wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great. The wait staff was extremely courteous and on point. When you’re in one of those moods– after a long day of work, pizza and fast food sound gross and you want to get out the house– Bamboo Asian Buffet is for you.

Horrible, tasteless, lacking variety. What a disappointment. I’ve eaten here in the past and my expectations were much higher. This place suffers from a terrible case of apathy.

As I enjoy Asian food I noticed Bamboo Asian Buffet while in Kerrville. The hostess could barely understand or speak English. She became irritated when I had to ask her to repeat herself. The food was very average, lacking real flavor. To top everything else, the hostess and cook had a very loud, screaming argument right in front of everyone! It was not screamed in English, so I can’t say what they were both furious about. I will never visit this establishment again. I urge the owner to fire everyone there, start over or this place will go under.

Average Asian buffet. Food is fairly good. We used to go there a lot because it was close by and convenient. No one there seems to speak any english. Then one day when I was in the restroom a worker was in their using the bathroom also. She went out without washing her hands. When I left the bathroom she was sitting at a table wrapping the silverware in napkins. I have not been back since.

Its really hit or miss here, I love buffets mainly because food and alot of it makes me happy, however here its feast or famine and alot of the main courses(ie shrimp beef and chicken) they dont seem to stock regularly. So all in all ive been 3x and 2 of them have had hardly any food. 2⁄5 for the one time that it was amazingly overstocked: D

Much too my chargrin nothing has improved. Sad excuse for an Asian Buffet. Every cooked dish available tasted the same. They use the same sauce(brown super salty) on four dishes. Steam plates remained bare on several dishes. No shrimp this time to offset the bill. Crab ttpe salad is misrepresented, should be celery salad with very smal amount of colored white fish. Sushi must be vegetarian as there was no fish. Glasses and utensils appeared clean. Thought I would give this place another go because I considered that my last experience might have been off. My recommendation is don’t enter the door.

Greeted by the majesty of the orient as you walk throigh the door, this place is a non-stop asian taste adventure from the first paddle of steamed rice to the enchiladas and everything in between.

We use to go here regularly three years ago. We went on a Sunday when it should have been crowded. It was not like it use to be. Food was warmish and not fresh because it wasn’t busy. Desperately tired and in need of an update and cleanup. Not again!

Buffet sampling 101. Typically, buffet meal timing is crucial to the freshness of the items due to consumption and replenishment rates. I tend to visit buffets during peak times to take advantage of the high turnover for freshness. Trying NOT to overeat at an Asian buffet is difficult. Only a very small amount-approximately a tablespoon of each dish mentioned here were sampled, with the exception of egg rolls and other whole items that could not be divided into smaller portions. All items selected were consumed as not to contribute to wasted food. Sunday lunch buffet, arrived at 12:30PM. After paying the cashier I grabbed a to-go menu and followed the cashier to a table where the server proceeded to take the drink order. The paper menu was used as a guide to take notes and check off items sampled to make review writing easier. A quick tour of the buffet islands to observe overall product freshness and cleanliness before heading to the back to see the ice cream machine and sushi stations. First trip to buffet consisted of hot/sour soup to which I added chopped green onions and to sample various side items including egg roll, fried spring roll, fried rice, crab rangoon, lo mein and whole sauteed mushrooms. The soup was just warm and the serving pot was less than half full, not sure if there is a correlation there. The egg roll and fried spring roll were both slightly warm and had the interior texture of sitting out too long. The second trip was to sample beef and pork dishes: Mongolian pork, spareribs, Szechuan pork, beef/broccoli, pepper steak/onion and beef/mixed vegies. Mongolian pork was«just prepared» fresh. The third trip included chicken and seafood dishes: sesame chicken, General Tso’s chicken, sweet/sour chicken, jalapeño chicken, fried shrimp, snow white shrimp, calamari and shrimp/mixed vegies. Jalapeño chicken and fried shrimp were the favorites here. The fourth trip was to sample deserts: chocolate pudding, sliced bananas/sweet red sauce, peaches and melon. Canned peaches were in heavy syrup and the melon was under-ripe. The staff did a good job at keeping the buffet clean and well supplied during the lunch rush. Additionally the server, although unpersonable was very attentive at removing plates and drink refills. Although many items were sampled there were many more that were not, such as the salad bar and pastry/cookie island. The total selection of items is just too large to review in one dining experience. In a nutshell… neither a great or poor dining experience. Pros: Decent flavors, one of the dishes actually utilized leeks instead of onions… a big +1 in my book for using alternate ingredients to make an otherwise ordinary dish taste great. Staff frequently cleaning and wiping the buffet, taking care of the buffet cleanliness. Cons: One plate looked rinsed instead of washed, there was something adhering to the top surface of the plate I selected. After seeing that I carefully examined all other tableware. Hit or miss on freshness, typical of buffets. Egg rolls and other such staple items need to be closely monitored or prepared in smaller batches to ensure freshness. Item labels are not always correct. I do not like to prepay for any meal… it gives a bad impression that you need to pay, eat and get out without leaving feedback. Moreover I appreciate cashiers asking«How was everything?» as if the management actually takes an interest in your opinion as you pay. In closing, buffets are basically a convenience of variety, however there is just no substitution for freshly prepared food. Having sampled a variety of their dishes I am better prepared on my next visit to order something directly from the menu and forgo the buffet.

Well Bill M. may have come from Hawaii(which I love btw) Ive managed a fine dining Asian place and lived in Asia. And that doesn’t make me the authority on Asian buffets. Though I will tell you the other bad reviews are well deserved. This place looked dingy, was very little on the buffet and what was there was pretty gross. Lunch was close to $ 25 for 2 with a drink. Waitress lingered near our table the whole time we was in there. We typically eat at a Chinese buffet 2 – 4 times a month. Kerrville needs a better choice in this area. Our first and last visit to this place. ;(

Apparently lots of these poor reviews come from people with little knowledge or experience with Chinese/Asian food traditions. I live in Fredericksburg, TX, but I come from Hawaii. This restaurant is a little slice of heaven. Many Asian/Chinese/Japanese food is NOT served steaming hot. More often it is served at room temperature. What some people seem to think is overcooked, is glazed and caramelized. Just because they are«used to» food prepared like Mother made it, has stultified their ability to have an adventuresome palate. My friends and I quite enjoyed all of the different flavors and different treatments of the many meat and vegetable offerings. And you sure cannot beat the very reasonable price. I was very pleased to find all of my favorite«homestyle» Chinese dishes. While this is obviously not haute cuisine; it certainly«ono grinds», as we say in Hawaii. A hui hou! GOODEATS!

It’s a shame you can’t do a «zero» stars on a rating. I use to always say«you can’t really screw up Chinese Food», that is until I ate here. Truly awful flavors. It’s not really all you can eat but rather, all you can choke down!

Food is hot and fresh. Service is adequate but not personable at all. Items on the buffet are not labeled correctly.

Even the MSG can’t save this food! Greasy and badly prepared,…But there is all you can eat, for the buffet crowd…
