I had the bean curd. It was so good! The waiter was very nice and funny. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Chinese food.

Excellent Chinese! We stopped on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised! 4 of us ate and we all got different entrees and everything was delicious! Definitely will be back!

Excellent service, delicious food. It’s vegetarian-friendly, and we particularly enjoyed the vegetarian lettuce wraps. My meat-eating family was also very happy with the spare ribs. Entrée portions are generous. Vegetables are fresh are perfectly cooked. We were traveling and stopped there on a weekday, and it was hopping at 3 pm. The restaurant was clean and pleasant.

Great find! After an unexpected breakdown on I-10 left me with a couple hours to spare, I asked Alonzo at Ultimate Auto where I could eat something within walking distance. He recommended several places and mentioned Soaring Dragon if I wanted good-fresh Chinese. Well since that’s a novel idea these days I decided to give it a try. From the moment I walked in I was immediately impressed with the nice clean modern space, also the 80’s music was at a nice level. Nice selection of your typical Chinese fare as mentioned by others. I ordered hot jasmine tea and tangerine chicken which came with a soup and egg roll all for less than $ 10.00. Best part of my breakdown! Will definitely be back!

Only gets 4 stars because of food quality! Service is hit or miss! The good waitstaff don’t stay around very long. I don’t know if it is a Kerrville thing or what, but the inconsistency is service has me crossing my fingers every time I walk through the door! Food definitely keeps me coming back! Best Phở in the hill country!

UPDATE… Received an apology from the manager and an nice offer for a complimentary lunch. It sounds like she was having a rough day with a difficult staff member. The issues with that server have been permanently resolved. While I appreciate the offer, what matters most is that they owned their issues and made things right. Thanks.

I gotta say — pretty good for a Chinese restaurant in the heart of Texas. It was our only option on a Sunday since most restaurants were closed for the Sabbath. Nice little family owned place and definitely very authentic. Chinese and Taiwanese owned, has a little taste of Chinese, Korean, and Viet. VERY good selection and I have to say — prolly the best egg drop soup I’ve ever had — for real.

This restaurant has the BEST Chinese food, hands down. I have always been a huge fan of Chinese food, but after trying every place in town a few years back, I was always left disappointed… until Soaring Dragon moved in. Everything I have tried has been extremely delicious. The portions are also enough to have 2 meals! The soup, rice, Rangoon or roll along with the main dish leaves you happy and ready for a nap. The employees and management are so friendly and considerate; they make you feel right at home. The place is a tad small, so it can get slightly crowded around the lunch and dinner hours. But don’t walk away! Waiting just a few extra minutes to get a table is definitely worth it! Food: 5 Stars Atmosphere: 4 ½ Stars Service/Waiting Time: 5 Stars Presentation: 5 Stars Price: 5 Stars Overall: 5 Stars. If you happen to live in or near Kerrville, or you are just passing through, take the time to stop in! You won’t regret it!

Visiting Kerrville, wanted good Chinese food. Found this place n Unilocal and gave it a try. Very good fresh food, amazing variety of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. Extensive lunch menu for max 7.95. We had Kung pao triple: chicken, beef, shrimp stir fried w/peanuts & vegetables. Soup and egg roll. Had been open about 8 mo. Very clean inside, friendly staff.

Best Chinese food in town by far. Have filled the home in my heart for good Chinese after moving from a large city.

Not the best Chinese food but probably the best locally. We ordered chow mein and included fried rice and egg roll but not a single strand of chow mein could be found. But I loved the sizzling seafood dish.

One of the best places to eat while in Kerrville. My wife and I order something different every time we go and haven’t been disappointed yet. The beef is fork tender and the veggies are always done just right.

I am sorry. This place started out so great but had slid downhill fast. First they slashed the Vietnamese items on the menu. Then they stopped serving phở. This time, I ordered Pad Thai. It came with no bean spouts. Three stale little peanut crumbs. No scallions. A lump of scrambled eggs, and a huge amount of celery. Celery? The staff is nice albeit a little over eager. But each timer I come here, the food is as sloppier, the standards are lower, and I wonder why I keep coming back.

Overall I am very happy with my experience and food at Soaring Dragon. Initially, I was a bit agitated by the lack of service we received after being seated. We were greeted by a friendly host who sat us promptly, but them sat for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement. It was a busy night, but as I watched several managers and two other staff just look at the front door and costumers in the restaurant, I became a bit irritated. Finally, I asked the host to bring us water and our waitress heard my request. After another 7 minutes we were finally given water and were asked to wait to take our order. Once our waitress was able to take our order things got better and she seemed to have more time. I’m not a needy customer, but when you have a 2 yr old in the party and your waiting for almost 30 minutes patience does begin to run out. We ordered the dinner specials that come with soap, egg roll, and rice. Portions were just right for dinner, maybe a tad small if you have a big appetite. I ordered the lemon chicken which was very good. Breading was just right and perfectly crispy. Good piece of lean chicken and the lemon sauce was nice… not too lemony! My mother ordered the Chicken and vegetables which she enjoyed. She did add hot oil to add more flavor, but overall she was happy with her choice. My dad ordered the sesame chicken which had tough pieces of meat. He said the flavor was good, but he was not impressed with the quality of the pieces of meat. Overall experience was good and worth going back. BY the end of the meal the managers were more involved with helping clear tables and get people drinks after being sat.

We ate lunch here today. I have the jalapeño chicken and shrimp with wonton soup, fried rice and crab Rangoon. Jalapeño chicken and shrimp was great. Great flavor, great amount of shrimp and perfect amount of spice. Wonton soup was was too good to be natural. Lol I would have made a full meal just out of this! Crab Rangoon was okay nothing special Fried rice was okay nothing special but was good. We had the chicken wings for an app a c they were good. They had like a ginger type spice on them, different but good. My husband had a chicken and shrimp meal as well, don’t remember the name. He said it was good but mine was a lot better. His egg roll was good and perfectly fried His egg drop soup was just okay, not much to it though. Prices were great and service was good!

Soaring Dragon has delicious food. There are not too many places to choose from there in Kerrville so this place is a must to add to your list. Plus it stays open later than most places do in Kerrville. another plus. The place isn’t very big, but is set up well and the décor is very nice and bright and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful and attentive even as more people arrived and things began to get a bit hectic for him. Let me tell you that their food is great! They have a great special from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. that includes your entrée, egg roll, soup and steamed or fried rice. That day I tried the Kung Pao Triple let me tell you it was very good and a great value for the price. I have had Kung Pao at other places and this was fresh tasting and had just the right amount of spicy kick to it. I tried the egg drop soup at the recommendation of my companion. He was right it was delish! The soup was fresh and flavorful. Not like most places when you order egg drop soup it tastes like It has been water downed all day long to make it last. Oh and the egg roll was oh so yummy! Light and crispy .none of those soggy thick breaded egg rolls here. My companion that day ordered the Soaring Dragon Shrimp. There were several items that caught his eye that day but he decided on this one. The description sounded really good«lightly breaded and fried shrimp tossed in a honey sauce topped with walnuts». The presentation was excellent. It looked great on the plate it was served. But, the dish was way too sweet for my liking as well as my companion. he said it was an overload of sweetness. He had to eat some of my Kung Pao to get the sweetness overload out of his mouth. We also had some sort of yummy appetizer that he ordered but for the life of me I can not remember what it was called. What saddens me is that I don’t know when I will be back to Kerrville to eat here again. Hopefully, soon I’ll make a trip out there with my daughter so we can enjoy Soaring Dragon’s delicious food.
