This Walgreens location alone is making me re-think my pharmacy of choice and I’ve been a loyal Walgreens customer for quite some time. Some of my beefs are with Walgreens changes in general to be explained below. How hard is it to be a decent store of choice by offering unobtrusive and efficient service? This place and Walgreens in general is starting to fail on so many levels. Note that most of my complaints do not apply to the Pharmacy. It’s as if the pharmacy is a separate entity and decided not to comply with the obnoxious level of the normal cash register experience. Thank you very much. 1) There appears to be one particular employee who works the front cash register who insists on greeting each and every patron with a loud«WELCOMETOWALGREENS» upon entering the store. It’s as if this has been a mandate by store management. It’s said whether I’m making eye contact or not(I’m not). And, it’s a pharmacy/convenience store, not a 4-star hotel. I don’t need to be welcomed. 2) When ringing me up at non-pharmacy registers, they must ask if I have a rewards card. Then, without a card with me, it takes way too many keystrokes, thus time, to complete a transaction and get the heck out of the store. You know, other stores have the clerk type in my phone number to look up my card. No, Walgreens makes the customer type it in. And, heaven forbid you press the wrong key. One cashier(see #1), was so visibly put out with me. Really??? Walgreens, you’re missing the point. When I buy things other than prescriptions from you, it’s because it is «convenient»; I’m supposed to park and be in and out in a flash. Not so anymore — ever. Note that I’ve only been asked once ever by the pharmacy if I even had a rewards card. I was thankful not to be bothered even if I have to pay more for other items. 3) When ringing me up at non-pharmacy registers, evidently the cashier is instructed by that invisible monster management person to bug me even more by asking if I would like to purchase candy bar x or candy bar y while I’m at it. Really??? I’m just more annoyed. Again, thank you Pharmacy dept for not having candy bars at your register. Shh!!! Management monster may now think that’s a great idea! Other reasons to rate this particular Walgreens lower include the hours. The location seems to be centrally located. I’m told the CVS just down the road is open 24 hours; this Walgreens would do well to compete and do the same. And even with its normal hours for the store, the pharmacy is open even fewer hours.
