Sushi Nami is equal parts great and weird. The fish is fresh, well prepared and served in giant portions. Service can be slow, but the people are super nice. The overall vibe is a little odd but no moreso than any other Keys restaurant — maybe being eccentric and a little shabby is the secret to longevity here. Bathrooms are outside — that’s all I’m going to say. The«boats» are enormous and a good value for a party, but you’re probably better off just ordering what you like.

Avoid at all costs! We ordered a bit of sushi, tonkatsu, and tempura udon. Sushi came out quick, and the fish tasted fine– but they used normal white rice instead of sushi rice. Strange, but we were hungry so we let it go. Tempura udon comes out– but the broth was definitely NOT udon broth, and there were barely any noodles in there. Tonkatsu was 90% fried batter and 10% meat. We asked to send back the udon because it was so atrocious, and the waitress got offended because it’s «the style we do here, what we’ve been doing for 20 years.» She called over ANOTHER waitress and she also explained that«this is what you ordered, this is how we do it.» Sorry, but that was definitely NOT udon — it was a bad excuse for canned broth with some frozen noodles in it. They at least agreed to cancel the order(cost)for the udon, but overall was a terrible experience. There’s a reason the prices are so low. Also, side note but the bathrooms were outside and the interior smelled a little… ripe.

The food was good, our server was so nice, the only complaint was the amount of time it took for us to get out food! I ordered a roll that wasn’t on the menu and it came out to my exact specifications, bonus star for them! However it did take us an hour to get our food, and if I wasn’t several rum and cokes deep I would have been very upset! Our server was very accommodating though, and gave us Edamame during our wait.

We went here while staying next door at sunset cove resort. We had been craving sushi all week and thought we’d give it a try. Small and authentic looking place we thought it would be good but it was the opposite. We eat sushi everywhere we go and this was by far the worst sushi I’ve ever had! We each ate a piece of ours and walked out leaving money on the table. The employees were rude and argued with us when we asked for the check and said we just got our food and we only got 2 rolls. It took over an hour to get our food after waiting at least 15 minutes before we were even greeted. It takes a lot for us not to like somewhere and we will never be back.

Tuna is good, and Miso soup is ok, but a little bit small, tuna sashimi is good and spicy tuna roll is good

Sushi Nami kicks Num Thai’s ass! We had dinner a both places back to back. Heard that Num T was better. No comparison! The size quality and quantity are ridiculous. Best I’ve ever had. We had the«love boat» for two and could not finish it. For $ 40 we waddled back to hotel. Soup, salad and a boat you could actually float on. No joke. Don’t go anywhere else. Save your appetite for the Nami

I guess it should have been a big red flag when I was the only one there for lunch at noon. Staff was decent, service was just ok. Prices decent. Ordered a lunch combo. Wasn’t asked about which dressing I wanted on the salad. Neither was good. I sat at the bar where you can see the prep and pretty much everything. The wooden boat the sushi was served on had definitely seen better days, looked busted and old, wasn’t sure how well it could be cleaned between dining :/The sushi rice tasted old, the ingredients in the display didn’t look fresh as the avocado was starting to turn color, the color of fish was off. The actual sushi rolls were cut into very large pieces, way bigger than traditional bite sized. The presentation looked thrown together, like it didn’t matter to anyone. Everyone just went back to reading their books when I was served. No refill on water was offered, never asked how everything was. Sitting at the bar, I could see the dirty sinks with various splats on the walls, filthy toaster ovens and equipment with old aluminum foil wrappings(not sure what they were doing in a Japanese restaurant). Lighting was dim, décor is old and has definitely seen better days. Definitely won’t be back. I’ll grab a hotdog at the gas station before wasting time in there again.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here, and have been coming back from time to time ever since. They never disappoint, though the quality of the fish is variable. That isn’t always the point, though. Nice people in a great location. If you are in Key Largo, spend a pleasant evening there, you’ll like it.

Very poor service for an establishment that has so much potential, waited 20 minutes for water, under staffed, walked out after realizing that they had forgotten about us.

Customer service here is absolutely appalling! I ordered a tuna tataki and it was not to my standards, I’ve eaten it at this restaurant several times before but today it just had a weird taste I politely asked my waitress to take it back but she got all insulted and told me that even if I didn’t eat it I still had to pay for it. I would of gladly paid for it if my waitress was polite about it but the way she approached me was extremely rude. I asked her to speak to the owner and the owner refused to speak to me, I ended up having to pay for my food even though I sent it back on the first bite. Everything else we ordered was pretty good but I was not happy with the service.

We happened to drive by on the way to pick up a quick lunch, and I was pleased to see the mostly positive reviews on Unilocal(thanks Unilocalers!) so we ended up going there for dinner. FYI — they don’t take reservations for parties of 2 but we went around 7pm on a Monday night and it wasn’t too busy(but busy enough). They have a really extensive menu that is quite reasonably-priced(even after factoring a poor US/CDN exchange rate). The first few pages of the menu confused me a bit though because the sections we split up depending on the type of seafood. Kind of cool, just not what I expected — couldn’t tell if some where appetizers or full meals. It’s also been a while since I’ve been to a Japanese restaurant in the States, and let me just note that I was surprised to find that the«supersize me» attitude applied to ethnic cuisine as well! My deep-fried tuna collar was much larger than I was expecting it to be. Beautifully crispy on the outside, juicy and flavourful meat on the inside, with a sesame oil-soy sauce-green onion dipping sauce that paired well with it. We ordered one special sashimi, which we were told was 15 pieces, and 4 rolls. This is a very normal amount, even conservative, for the two of us sushi lovers. What arrived was 28 pieces of sashimi, and the four rolls cut into 10 pieces each! I’m not complaining because we love sashimi, and were pleased to see that there were 4 pieces of each variety, so it could be equally split between us. For the sashimi, which was all very fresh, there was octopus(pretty good, not rubbery), conch(love it– it’s got a crunchy texture), a really pink tuna(meh, kind of flavourless), a normal tuna(good), salmon(yum), a white fish that might be wahoo?(delicious and buttery), and then a seared salmon in a soy dressing. The rice in the rolls were kind of mushy but they were all interesting. We had one with eel(love), a spider crab(not as good as others I’ve had-seemed lacking in actual spider crab), a spicy conch(good, but the spicy came from sriracha drizzled on the roll, which I didn’t like as the flavour isn’t as well integrated), and a chop chop scallop(very good — large chunks of fresh scallop and not too much mayo). Service was a little spotty though they do give you warmed towels when you first sit down, which is a nice touch. I’d definitely come back if ever in the area again — can’t beat the freshness of that sashimi!

To their credit, they have a great, amazing menu and their prices are very good. We went on a busy Saturday night where every table was filled with those hungering for raw fish. There were only 2 waitresses serving the whole restaurant, so a simple sushi dinner(no fancy orders) with 3 young kids turned into a 2 hour affair. Would have been delightful over saki with friends. Not so much with wildebeests. I was very impressed with the variety on the menu, but the gyoza arrived cold owing to the overworked staff. The green iced tea came in a great big glass and made me happy. The spicy tuna mixture was nicely flavored, but too mushy for my tastes. I had a chef’s special, which was spicy tuna with a little this and that, rolled in a crêpe with rainbow colored fish on top. Mushy tuna, mushy crêpe… not the ideal combo. In fact, downright unappealing. I still have to take my hat off(were I wearing one) to the menu and the prices, but after reading the other reviews I was expecting more. Service=1, food=3, selection=5.

you have to try out the CONCH appetizers. It’s raw conch, and it was so delicious that we even went back to order another plate. And it’s cheap. The sushi rolls are just ok.

This place is deceiving in so many ways. First off, it is a hole in the wall pink shack that makes you think there is no way they could be making magic in their kitchen. Definitely not the case. Every bit of food that my husband and I have had there had magic embedded in it. It is also a deceptive little shack being that the portions are huge and the prices and minuscule. The first time we went, we looked at the prices on the menu and assumed that the rolls must be tiny, so we ordered 4 rolls to share. Lord have mercy, we were wrong. At the end of the evening our bellies were overly full, our plates were still not empty and our wallet was not too much lighter than when we arrived. Overall, a great place for fresh and inexpensive sushi.

Cheap Japanese food on the way to Key West right on US-1. Seems to be popular with the locals as well. Our waitress was really sweet, from Thailand. Broken English but quick and efficient. Great lunch specials with prices you don’t find in Miami. I got a bento box of fried tofu, stir fried veggies, side salad, miso soup and brown rice for $ 7.95. The tofu was delicious, the brown rice cooked perfectly. The veggies were tender-crisp but pretty salty and peppery. Most Americans probably like it that way, I’ve never seen black pepper used in East Asian cooking. Mom got beef and veggie stir fry with brown rice and side salad for under $ 10. The plate was huge, too much for one person. From what I saw, the sushi rolls were big and looked really good. I would have loved to try one but had too much food as it was. At $ 3.50 for dessert it was hard to say no to fried cheesecake. It was very good and BIG but could have used a little dark chocolate syrup. If I lived in the keys, this would be a regular spot for me.
