Had a Cuban sandwich, which was good, but it wasn’t spectacular. We would go back to try something else. The service was very good as well

My husband and I go here at least once a week. Shrimp tacos are great and finally had the Cuban. Fantastic! Only downside is cash only. Be sure to ask for the habanero sauce mucho caliente!

Our boat tour guide gave us a tip on this place for some quick cuban food and for a sandwich called the sandy(which we didnt try). My husband and i both had the cuban sandwich and i ordered some cheese fries. The sandwich was very big. We could have easily shared one. It was very good, but i have had a better cuban in miami. The fries were good too. Cash only and very limited outside seating as this is a stand shop next to a laundromat. Overall a successful trip. Not sure if we would come back on a future visit. may try some other places first.

If you are looking for the best Cuban sandwich on Key West Island — don’t miss Sandy’s. It’s no frills but never misses on providing the best Cuban experience imaginable. It is a favorite for tourists and locals. Try it out!

Five stars all the way for the original CUBANSANDWICH! Hands down — delicious! If you like a big sandwich with pulled pork, ham, cheese, etc… this is for you. Plus it’s huge… and I’m a big guy(6’3″ 260 lbs) and it filled me up. Total original cuban sandwich prepared the original way. Plus this place is open 24 hours too! Just heads up for some of the local drug addicts lingering around though in the early morning hours… lol. Nothing happened to me though… it was all good. Being from Los Angeles I’m used to being around ALOT of homeless. Just lock ur doors if u happen to park far away.

Had lunch today with wife. We both had The Cuban and fries. Best Cuban in Key West. We like to find local places to eat at wherever we go and this place absolutely fits the bill for little local establishments. Very friendly, clean, and affordable

Love this little café attached to a laundromat! Needed coffee our first day here and started walking down the block. Heard the roosters, looked to the right and saw the café sign. What a diamond in the rough! We didn’t expect much but I’m telling you, the café con leche is out of this world! It didn’t stop there; the next day we tried the breakfasts huevos chorizo! Home run! Next; fish tacos! Another shut out! Love this little place. Great prices, great service, food is terrific! Looking to try the Cuban sandwich next. Bring cash, no credit cards accepted.

Open 24 hours, laundromat right next door so you’ll see locals eating here as well. They offer delivery as well. They are known for their sandy’s sandwich. I recommend getting it as is because it comes fully loaded and it’s good for 2 people.

Food is excellent. There’s just not a lot of seating, I count 8 stools and then some standing area.

Best cuban sandwich I’ve ever had. If you want to find out what all the fuss is about, then go. Read the other reviews for details, but it’s five stars for that amazing sandwich. Even the last bite that was just bread, the BREAD was delicious. Not to be missed, and I will go back any time I possibly can. Also had their homemade key lime pie, and though the merengue was a bit deflated, the taste was crazy good. A tossed salad had great vegetables, and pickles in the mix which I’ll do from now on. Woot!

We heard that these guys might make the best Cuban sandwich in the Keys, and wow were they right. This is a TINY place with 0 inside seating. The only seating consists of ~6−7 chairs outside the shop, no more. No surprise, most took their sandwiches to go. The menu is very large, but we were there for the Cubans. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten in my life, hands down. Definitely get by here while in Key West. As for a previous comment, there is no «off the beaten path» in KW… it’s a tiny island. Everything is close. The roosters add to the experience, wandering around the front and picking up leftovers. Cash only.

Omg– Cuban mix sandwich was amazeballs! Everything it should be– great mix of pulled pork, ham, cheese with lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard pressed into crispy Cuban sandwich bun– crunchy outside and soft inside. Only thing is I would have liked more mustard, but still damn good. Massive sandwich– def could have split it between two people and been more than satisfied– also comes with a side of fries which wasn’t expected, but for $ 7.99 a sandwich we’ll take it! Fries were ok, ended up throwing most of them to the local chicken, chicks and roosters nearby, which was a mistake to encourage them to beg for people food, but they minded their business for the most part. This place is literally out of a window off the side of a laundry mat, so don’t expect ambiance, just some good quick food! There are maybe 8 barstool in total around the porch-like area and ordering window, and two 4 people benches around the corner. Would get 5 stars if they had a few little bistro tables nearby to eat at too, but 5 for the Cuban! All three of us got the Cuban mix, so we can’t say much about the rest of the menu, but A+ on that sandwich! Probably 90% of other people there had ordered that as well, can’t go wrong there, right?!

Open late. Cash only. Best Cuban sandwich I’ve had during our trip to Key West. Hot sauce was really good too.

YUCK!!! I can’t figure out for the life of me why this place gets such good reviews. The food is less than average, lunch meats and over applied mayo, even the cuban sandwich was nothing special. They used real pork but everything else was basic lunchmeat. The fish used in the tacos and sandwiches is gross and soggy. The bathroom in the attached laundromat was out of order and they offered no alternatives. There are about 6 barstools outside and a few benches but no other seating. Skip this spot.

I found the famous Cuban sandwich here! I barely noticed sandy’s in Unilocal with all the restaurants clamoring for attention. What got me here was talking to a local Mexican? Cuban? Resident. He didn’t know anything about Unilocal, but he said that he likes getting food at sandy’s. There couldn’t have been a better endorsement. The place is an outdoors stand around while you eat place. They are designed to serve people on the go all day and night. So if you want to stop there to give it a try or need a late night snack, sandy’s will not disappoint. Be sure to save enough cash on you. They don’t take credit cards.

24 hour walk up service; just to get that out of the way. Sandy’s was my introduction to Key West. Before we even got to our house, we stopped here first after the drive from Miami and I was loving everything about it. I’m a real fan of the walk-up window service. I got to the window and was met by two nice ladies taking orders. I tend to get mistaken for Dominican a lot so it’s funny getting the looks I get when I tell people that I don’t speak Spanish. It was cool tho, the smells coming from the kitchen was all I needed to experience to let me know what’s up. Of course I went with the Sandy because, c’mon. It was delicious, y’all! I felt like I was back home in New Orleans munching on a sandwich from Stein’s deli for a bit. Oh! Do note, this place is cash only so be sure to keep a few duckets in the pocket. Perfect for those late night drunken endeavors or a substantial meal to get your day started. Either way, Sandy’s is a place I will always visit whenever I’m in Key West from here on out. Great job!

I can’t give it five stars because it is a little lacking, not in quality but in seating and ambiance. Don’t get me wrong I love a good hole in the wall as much as the next guy. But that doesn’t earn you a 5 star rating. And the employees are pleasant, at best — I mean no more so than at any fast food environment. Again I can’t 5 star that. But it shares space with a laundromat so you can always throw a load in and grab a bite. And that is worth 4 stars! The food, though, was fantastic and worth the overpriced rickshaw bike ride to get here. I’ll admit we could have walked, however, there is something gratifying about paying another human being to labor intensely to get you where you want to go… am I right or am I right(just call me Walter –extra points if you get that reference). And in the end we’re both happy the rickshaw driver took us the longest way possible to get to Sandy’s(big fare) and I got to be the reason he had a leg cramp that night. Personal satisfaction makes a meal that much more enjoyable. And it is fun to get off the beaten path and eat where the locals go. I definitely recommend Sandy’s Café.

My only major complaint about this place is the location. It’s so far off the strip. We walked at least a mile to get here. We ordered the tacos one of each: chicken pork and steak. It was pretty good. The meat had nice flavor and it tasted like perfect tacos. I do however like that it’s open 24⁄7 Just wish it were closer
