Madewell is a twee version of Banana Republic: It’s clothing for girls who are not yet women, and women who’d like to imagine that they’re still girls. The styles are fashion-​toward and trendy. You can picture a fashion blogger wearing Madewell pieces for a photo shoot for their next blog entry: toes pointed inward, head down, bangs covering their eyes as they snap a casual photo of themselves in an alleyway.
Without exception, every time I enter a Madewell, I am 100% ignored. I thought this was a phenomena that existed at Madewells in Southern California, but it seems to have extended into Indianapolis as well. Madewell was not made for me, apparently. Well.

Me loves everything about Madewell!
I only buy items that are on sale, however. I just can’t afford the regular prices. I have a pair of jeans, two dresses, scarf, necklace, t-​shirt and the most awesome leather tote.
I bought the tote online for about $ 80. It is very sturdy. I carry my heavy ThinkPad in it along with other essentials to work. The leather is super supple! Now that it’s getting some wear it looks even better!
All the other items I have had for about 4 months. Holding up well, stylish. The scarf gets tons of compliments (white, blue and black… actually rather middle-​eastern looking. Different, which I love.)
The store in Keystone Xing I like because the staff is helpful, but not in-​your-​face helpful where you feel uncomfortable.
Beautiful store. It’s cozy and conveniently located near Teavana for my free samples on the way out from shopping!

I have always enjoyed the window displays, but on this particular day I decided to venture in. I was shocked to find the prices weren’t as outrageous as I had assumed. They only carry womens apparel, ranging from semi-​casual sweaters, to basic tees, all high quality fabrics. It’s a J. Crew company… the less expensive casual cousin.

Nice combination of higher-​end denim and affordable styles. Repurposed wood for the flooring is a nice touch.
