Played the course today. We booked though zoo golf. First, the course was in great shape. The greens are wonderful. Not overly challenging but the grass on them was perfect. The scenery was to die for. Beautiful views of water and wildlife. Watch out for the gators! The fairway grass was also superb. Overall the course was in impeccable condition. The one criticism is the course’s insistence on fast play. We were getting warned constantly because we were slightly over the 2:10 minutes alloyed for 9 holes. It had rained the night before and we were on cart path only which really delayed play for bogie golfers. I also didn’t like how we were essentially railroaded into playing the Fasio(6200 yards) tees. On a number of holes we were just 50 to 70 yards from the pin on our approach shots. Obviously the starter is told to convince golfers to play from Fasio only to speed up play there, which they care more about than our enjoyment of the course. So I do recommend the course. But play from the tees that are right for you and ignore the starter recommendation.

The course was in very good condition. After a heavy rain the day before, there were very few muddy spots. Great drainage. My only real complaint was the Marshal Harold. Numerous times he came through and threatened to make us skip holes, and he kept rushing us. Even though we were always up against the group ahead of us. This was a common theme among the 20 – 30 guys in our group. Everyone had a Harold story. Playing rushed is not an enjoyable round of golf. He also let a 2-some and a single play behind us, which made no sense if the course was so packed. Great course but Harold really needs to not be so rude to paying customers.

Its unfortunate but it seems not much has changed in two years. This course was not in good shape when I played it at the beginning of this year. Maybe it had something to do with the time of year, but much of the grass was dead, and a large portion of the fairways and greens were torn up. This is a stark contrast to the rest of the Kiawah courses, which were for the most part, very well maintained. The course was still fun and had some very cool views. It was the easiest of the five courses in my opinion, with relatively wide fairways and larger greens. However, this course just doesn’t compare to the other four. I have played all five public courses at Kiawah, and this course ranks at the bottom. If you only have the time(or money) to play one course, choose one of the other ones.

I’d have to agree with Norm on this one. You can tell that there’s a lot of good in Osprey point, but the day I played, I found the greens to be extremely slow and grainy. It was almost like putting on velcro. Unlike other courses in Kiawah, much of the grass was dead as the rough was a moss-like brown. I’ve been reading the benefits of not overseeding courses, but they seemed to be lost on me. It just seemed like they wanted the place to lie fallow for the season and dissuade play. On the plus side, this made the course more playable as the ball laid up and you could easily hit a fairway wood out of it. Maybe other times of year it’s better, but in the fall, I’d say there are better options for the money. Where the course is lacking, you’ll find great joy in the clubhouse. The restaurant has a fantastic beer selection and serves fantastic BBQ.

$ 174. The course is beautiful. Very scenic winding thru wetlands and amazing homes. I’m rating it three stars because the greens were not in good condition, certainly not the greens you would expect on a resort course costing this much.

Osprey Point Golf Course was designed by golf architect, Tom Fazio and what a design it is, clearly a cut above so many South Carolina courses, possibly because it was originally built as a members-only course. Other than The Ocean Course, Osprey Point is the 2nd best of the Kiawah Island Courses, but anywhere else on the planet, it is second to none! The setting for the course, which was completed in 1986, the course features four large natural lakes, fingers of saltwater marsh, thick areas of live oaks, very tall and thin pines with the biggest pine cones you could imagine! A very Typical Kiawah Island look, but not typical once you are walking the grounds. Osprey Point golf has plenty of strong holes, every hole but No. 8 has water, though the only real forced carry is on the par-3. The 11th hole, a 453-yard, par-four ninth is brutal and a two par 3’s play longer than 200 yards. Osprey Point also offers strategic short par fours, to tempt and generally fool big hitters. Osprey plays 6,871 yards from the back tees, the course rating is 72.9 and it has a slope rating of 137. This may sound unimportant, but take notice of the state-of-the-art cart paths. An elegant clubhouse now stands overlooking the immaculate driving range. This isn’t one of those mammoth, gaudy oceanfront hotels you may find in, say Myrtle Beach, it is classy, filled with wildlife and
