Fun place to eat. I’ve heard so many great things so I was really pumped to go in and try it out. We had friends that were visiting and they had their wedding reception dinner here. Parking: downtown Kihei on a Friday night in general can be a crazy experience. The parking lot at 808 bistro is small. I recommend parking down the street at the mini mall area where Subway is located. The walk is only a few minutes from there. Food: There were some great selections to choose from, but I’m a sucker for pasta… Fettuccini with Champagne and Sun Dried Tomato Cream and Fresh Basil? Game on. It came out quick, presented beautifully and tasted great! Nice big portion too. The sauce was really tasty and noodles cooked to perfection. I had mine with a glass of water, but they did mention that they were a BYOB establishment. Noted for next time. Overall: the staff was really friendly and checked on us a few times to be sure that we were satisfied. It’s really clean and well lit with room for small groups as well as large. Definitely worth stopping by for ono grinds.

We almost went to 808 Deli then we realized it’s not the same. Make sure you walk into the building towards the back to find 808 Bistro. Atmosphere was great. Service was fantastic. This is affordable. For breakfast, I recommend the Eggs Benedict. I also enjoyed a slice of the Banana French Toast. I would come here again. In fact, I plan on it.

I find there are sadly not too many great breakfast places in South Maui unless you want to spend a lot of $$$. This place is always decent. Food is pretty good, comes out quick, nice covered outdoor eating area. I bring friends and family here once when they’re visiting and they all seem to like it. Except for the Whale Pie, nobody has really cared for that. :)

My husband and I tried the crab cake eggs Benedict and the banana bread French toast. SO good. The service was also top notch. I don’t think my coffee cup ever got below half full. I would highly recommend.

I split the Crab Cake Benedict with a friend and we ordered the Banana Bread French Toast. The Benedict was pretty good. I was expecting it to be a bit spicy because there are jalapeños, but it wasn’t at all. I dislike onions so I had to dig some of those out. The french toast was very moist and was much tastier with butter added to it. It was a little touristy for my liking, but it is not a bad breakfast joint.

Ate here the other day before my flight home. The 3 course meal of the mushroom soup, gorgonzola chicken and penne, and brownie sundae were to die for. My girlfriend got the a basil and champagne spaghetti and loved it. Food aside, our waitress was super pleasant, but the guy who brought out our food was great. It’s not often you get to chat with that individual and it was just a great reflection on the restaurant leadership to see that everyone from host to chef is involved in making you feel welcome and appreciated for dining there.

So far, in my week stay in Maui, and having had coffee every morning — this was the best cup of coffee I have had on the island! I got the veggie potatoes and husband got the crab cake eggs Benedict — both dishes were extremely fresh! You can tell the produce was top quality. Both very good meals. The lady who came by and refilled coffee and waters and also say us was an angel! So very sweet warm and inviting. Great ambiance and views. What a gem

Service was really good friendly. Nice open patio dining area. The breakfast items we had weren’t amazing. Just average. Even the Banana Bread French Toast wasn’t that great. I think it might have better as just a slice of Banana Bread. No reason to avoid this place. I just didn’t leave with a longing to return any time soon.

Breakfast on a Monday Jan 2016 Great service(7:30am and the place was virtually empty with only one other table with customers). Nice«feel» … totally open to Hawaiian weather and lots of plants and so on. Limited view of ocean. Veggie omelet was pretty good and the banana French toast was delicious(more like delicious coffee bread) My coffee cup was never empty. I’ll be back.

The banana nut bread french toast is a must have. And you can order just one piece on the side if you don’t want all sweets for breakfast. Also had the crab cake benedict. Excellent! Just enough background heat from jalapeño. Soooooo good. Highly recommended!

My husband and I came here in November for dinner on our last night in Maui. We had been to 808 previously on another trip and decided it would be the perfect thing for our last night. We arrived around 7:30 and were seated promptly without a reservation. We had a nice table towards the back and along the rail. Our waters were filled immediately and our server arrived shortly after to let us know what the specials were that night. I decided on the flat iron steak with the blue cheese crust and my husband had their Mahi. The brought out a nice fresh bread basket while we waited and before we knew it our meals had arrived. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection and was well seasoned. The blue cheese was a nice compliment to the steak and the veggies and potatoes were a good accompaniment. My husbands fish was cooked well and was seasoned beautifully with a lemon white wine sauce. We did not notice until they said anything but they accidentally served it with mashed potatoes instead of rice but he was happier that way. We decided to skip dessert just because we were so full. We had an excellent meal here with great service and we would definitely recommend it.

I had been dying to try this place after reading so many good reviews, but today I was underwhelmed. We split the crabcake eggs benedict and 2 slices of their banana bread french toast. Coffee and a single pog completed the order. The staff seemed a bit frazzled. Maybe it’s the holiday, but i didn’t want to feel frazzled while enjoying my meal. We were asked if we wanted more coffee every 5 minutes, one waiter spilled iced tea on our table and offered to replace my napkin, which he never did, and our food arrived lukewarm. The juice couldn’t have arrived in a more plain(and small) cup. The taste was okay, but nothing to write home about. Overall it felt like 2.5 stars, but I’ll give them another try before raising the flag.

Stopped in for breakfast before the start of a day of sight seeing. The coffee was served right away and never stopped which was great. I ordered the crab cake eggs Benedict and the server suggested a piece of banana bread french toast for the table which we all agreed sounded good. Our food arrived rather quickly. My first bite was of the banana bread french and it was DELICIOUS! I had to control myself so that others could have a bite as well. Next to my crab cakes Benedict. It was plated beautifully. I cut into my first egg and was sadly disappointed that it was over cooked with no oozing yolk at all. Okay, so I cut into my second egg to find the same disappointment. Bummer! The flavor of the crab was great but the breakfast was just okay for me as the eggs were way over cooked for a Benedict dish. I would return for sure and order the banana bread french toast without hesitation. I might even be willing to give the crab cakes Benedict another shot based solely on how good the flavor of the crab cake itself was. Service was great and the open air atmosphere with a great view of the ocean is always a great way to start your morning.

November 17, 2015 Tuesday — 9:30AM for breakfast 4 adults Atmosphere — 4 star Food — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Trying a new place for breakfast. Atmosphere — The place was not very crowded but love the open air feel to the place. Food Drinks — coffee, which I never did see the bottom of the cup until I was done. Main course — I love trying the unusual breakfast times. The Whale Pie caught my eye. A big pile of breakfast food, it starts with cheesy hash browns, topped with a slice of ham, topped with a sunny side egg. Now cover that with brown gravy. It was good, I with the ham was a little less fatty. Service — Like I said my coffee never ran out. Future — Maybe for dinner next time we are in the area.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVETHISPLACE! Their crab cake benedict is sooooo freaking good! You HAVE to try their banana bread french toast as well. Get one for the table and order the benny. You will be so glad you did. The customer appreciation here is on point. I think we were thanked for coming in 4 times by the time we left. There’s a bit of an ocean view which adds to the wonderful experience of this place. Definitely put it on your list as a place to have breakfast if you are staying in Kihei.

The restaurant is mainly open air with a view of the beach if you are seated in the right area. As noted in the other reviews, the staff is super friendly. They are know for their banana bread french toast and we did order a slice to share with all at the table.(It was moist and very good dipped in the provided syrup.) The issue I had was the eggs benedicts. Three of us ordered eggs bene and two of the three dishes were over cooked(hard eggs with zero yolk). When the servers came by and asked how the meal was they did not take notice that two of us both had cut into our eggs and they were hard. Maybe i’m expecting too much, but if you are featuring eggs bene, get it consistently right. Not sure we’ll go back on this trip with all of the other breakfast options in the area.

I was fortunate enough to host my wedding reception dinner at 808 Bistro on Saturday, August 8th. Leading up to our wedding reception, I worked with Mitch via email and he was always so kind and responsive to my emails and requests. We had a «sit down» dinner for 22 guests and our menu started off with a choice of green salad with a Balsamic Vinaigrette or the Soup of the Day, Entrée choices of Panko Crusted Chicken Breast Stuffed with Herbed Goat Cheese, Beef Tenderloin Medallions with a Port Wine Demi Glaze or the Mahi Mahi with an Orange Vermouth Sauce. Dessert options were Brownie Sundae, Hawaiian Sweet Bread Pudding with Whiskey Cream or Ice Cream or Sorbet. Everything was AMAZING! The food, the service, the staff! All five stars! We were able to bring in our own wine, champagne, beer and hard alcohol which saved us tons of money. I can’t wait to visit Maui again and dine here. 808 Bistro is as good as it gets and I highly recommend dining here!

My boyfriend and I made it out to 808 Bistro just in time before they closed for the afternoon. They’re located right across the street from the beach and have a nice, quiet patio area to enjoy your breakfast on. We had the banana bread French toast and curry omelet, which were both really good. The French toast was a bit soft, but tasty nonetheless. I liked the fact that there was no crazy line and the noise level wasn’t loud at all. I’d come back again!

I know, I know… banana bread french toast. But the show stopper for me was the veggie browns with egg whites. I’m not sure how you use Unilocal, but I’m a photo stalker: rather than look at the menu, I’ll just swipe through Unilocal photos until I find what I need. And when I saw Jane H’s photo, I knew it was the brekkie for me: veggies on top of potatoes underneath a layer of cheese and egg whites. Seriously, go look at the photo. I’ll wait. And now that you’re back, trust that it was even better(and larger) than it looks. With the time change, I was the only customer there, practically pouncing on a table when they opened at 7am. So while I might not be a great judge of their grace under pressure, I can say that the staff kept my coffee warm, my water filled, and let me have the best seat in the house. The super casual, unpretentious outdoor jungle atmosphere, plus the whole cheese on egg white on veggies on hash browns thing, definitely made 808 Bistro a winner in my book.

We came here for breakfast and enjoyed a delicious meal. The breakfast menu was limited but we ordered the banana bread French toast(SO good), crab Benedict, and veggie omelet. Our favorite was the banana bread French toast! The coffee was very delicious! Service was good but a bit slow. I am now understanding that island life is much more lax than the mainland so that may be it. The location is off the main road, so you need to follow the signs back so you don’t miss it!
