We used to really enjoy Ocean’s. They had the best burgers in Kihei! Unfortunately, they are now closed. :(

I spent my 21st Birthday here years ago and had the time of my life. I didn’t eat, so I can’t review the food. It really is more of a bar rather than a restaurant. Bartenders were so friendly and the drinks were great. Since it was my 21st birthday, I probably tried every different kind of drink possible. It was a Wednesday evening, so it was pretty empty. but still a decent crowd considering it’s Kihei. Great place for locals but of course tourists are welcomed just as well. Drinks were very cheap. can’t remember pricing right now but it really didn’t put a dent in our wallet considering all we had ordered. I totally cannot wait til I make it back to Maui… this will of course be among my first stops.

Fantastic Taco Tuesday! Food is good, unlike the other Taco Tuesday place in Kihei.

We traveled to Wailea to check out the sites. I googled a BBQ restaurant for us to eat at, but when we got there, we noticed there was no seating. Thankfully, I noticed this place when we pulled in. When we got there I went inside to inquire whether the whole bar was 21& up(it isn’t). It is an open air bar with a separate dining area and a bunch of tvs for all the sports fans. We sat down, looked at the menu and ordered our food. ITTOOKFOREVER to get our food! However, the burgers were delicious and the meal came with waffle fries! They were so good! If I would have known they came with the burger I would have ordered another side order.

Great place for live music and dinner, Staff is very nice. but the wait for our food was really long. We had the kalua sandwich and guava chicken. Both were pretty good. The raw oysters were really fresh and good.(I normally don’t eat raw oysters but these were delicious) Their mai tais were good but there was a drink I ordered… The Queen something(can’t remember the name but it had li hing on the rim) didn’t really taste like anything. They also had a macadamia nut chocolate pie/cake that was really good and it was a big portion. Cool place to hang out a have some pupus and a drink if your not too hungry.

I don’t know, I seem to go to this place more than I want, I guess its a good place to meet up with friends. Good happy hour specials. Sticky floors, dirty menus kind of dive bar but not divey enough kind of place. Decent beer selection as compared to its competition(that’s not saying a lot). Service can be hit or miss. Food is your typical bar food. At night they bring out the velvet ropes and it turns into Kihei’s hottest night club. Haha, must leave before that happens.

Previous review still holds but note its for the bar. Their happy hour is arguably one of the best on Maui(seriously — if you love beer). Reason for the update? Their food is soooooooooo expensive. What really gets me is that they have a very poor discount(only $ 2.00) off pupu’s during happy hour. Two dollars? Really? If you love beer and like it for $ 2.50 a pint, this is your place. But — the food is very expensive given that this is NOT a fine dining establishment — its a sports bar… Now you know. Enjoy it for what it offers. Cheers

This place is awesome! So, we’ve been here 3 times this visit. The first time it was for lunch, since it was so early(11am) and a weekday it wasn’t busy so I was actually able to work on my laptop for a bit — free wifi! We ordered: — ahi poke– very fresh — nachos with pork– yum! The second time we came for happy hour $ 2.50 Mai tais! It was a lot busier than our first time but that didn’t stop our server from providing great service. We ordered: — calamari– light breaking, big pieces all served with a house made aioli– it was very good! — the chicken skewers, great flavor, very moist and tender, I can see why it’s their #1 — tomato salad(not on happy hour) it was very light and refreshing. The third time we ordered nachos again, happy hour is the same portion size as non-happy hour. Very large! This time we sat at the bar, the staff there is very busy but knows how to mull-task. We’ll definitely try this place again.

We’ve been here twice now… Once for their wonderful breakfast buffet, where I learned about Portuguese sausage(delicious), and a second time for dinner last night. Quick review on the breakfast buffet: GO! It gets 5 stars! Everything’s delicious plus they have someone there to make you an omelet or waffle. Now for the dinner review: When we arrived the manager remembered us from a week ago, he even remembered where we sat. We ordered Shrimp Alfredo and the Fisherman’s Platter. The Shrimp Alfredo was good with shrimp the size of fingers. When it came out there were a few shrimp sprinkled on top and usually at restaurants it’s just left at that but here they had shrimp mixed throughout the noodles. My fiancé thought it was delectable. The Fisherman’s Platter came with 3 finger sized shrimp, 3 strips of calamari and two pieces of fish(catch of the day), all breaded and fried to perfection, on top of a bed of battered waffle fries. Everything was delicious but what surprises me is the fish. Usually restaurants give you a fillet of cheap bottom feader fish for their fried food. Here they give you the catch of the day! Also, instead of just dipping their food in batter and slopping it into the fryer they took the time and care to bread it, which I think is a better way of deep frying. I think my fiancé said it best when she said, «the people that opened this place wanted a restaurant but added a bar out of necessity».

i just moved to Maui 4 days ago and the first place my roommate took me to eat is Ocean’s Beach Bar & Grill. This place is the most well-rounded bars/restaurants I’ve been to in a LONG time. Right when we stepped in, everyone was so welcomed. Aloha’s all around. Before we even looked at the menu to grub, Holly, our bartender, talked to us and made me feel so welcomed. While talking it away with Holly and drinking our beers, the other bartenders and lead chef hung out with us and made my first day in Maui the best. FINALLY, after being there for some time, we ordered our food… Crab wontons, calamari and chicken quesadilla. Simplest dishes but it was amazing. No doubt I will return to this place. Warm and welcoming. Foods great, Drinks were awesome, and the staff… The staff is the cherry on top! =)

One of the better Taco-Tuesdays around. They have 8 different types of Tacos. I am a fan of the Calamari tacos. Decent sports bar, loaded with TVS and has ideal patio for outdoor seating. Inside has a nice open air feel. Hopefully a nice breeze will be blowing through as your catching up with your mainland sports fix.

I’m gonna give it up to them, Oceans is my neighbor or closest restaurant aside Shaka’s to my home. Always passed on bar food and just drank here. Last night starving with no food in the house I made the walk for bar food. Grabbed a Pacifico and perused the menu. Tripped on the menu I ordered mac nut crusted mahi mahi with pesto and crab won tons. no won tons tonight I tried the guava BBQ wings. First a Caesar Salad came out and whacked it down fast, really decent. The Mahi and the wings came out together per my request. The Mahi unreal, mixed with the pesto nice and priced right at 25 $. The Guava wings although good are no match with the mahi and I bounced back from plates confused. Didn’t finish the wings and as they were OK they never needed the sauce they came with and woulda been nice with a little spice in this dish. 11 $ wings a bit high compared to the mahi dish. 9 $ and some spice added would of kept me happier. Grabbed a Dead Guy Ale and the bill came out to 46 $. Dining alone isn’t so fun, still they have 13 flat screens and a larger projection screen with surf, UFC and games in season going on. 2 pool tables 18 beers on tap and 18 bottled beers. Better then bar food I never knew, guess the name bar and grill should of told me something. Nice my spelling is excellent now if I can figure how to load a pic.

This place always makes me feel like I’m rocking it out on an island. Is that a good thing? You damn right it is. The service is on the money, the food is tasty; I recommend the teri-steak, dee-lish and if you’re there for more than dinner, the drinks are always flowing w Tsai(pronounced SIGH) as the most talented bartendar. And let’s not forget its owners, Shirley and Todd. You’ll find them pouring libations and toasting the evening w you. The most welcoming place w a mixture of locals and tourists that are easy going and all have one thing in common… having a good time. Oceans set-up allows room to roam, a good dance floor w staging that has everyone w the best seat in the house. I’ve been here to see entertainers like J-Boog and Fiji(several times) and Katchafire, all in an intimate setting. So folks if you can’t figure out where to go on any given day or night… this is the place.

This is a sports bar inside, so if you want to watch sports go ahead! We sat outside on their breezy patio and felt like we were on vacation(we were)! It’s VERY laid back! Not too local, not too touristy… just a casual atmosphere where friends can reconnect! The drinks were cold and the appetizers were VERY good-mango chicken skewers and Teriyaki skewers were my favorite!

Great place for hanging with the fellas and watching a game. Spent time here watching UK play in the final four this year. If you are a burger fan, get the burger with bleu cheese and onion rings. Sounds nasty, but is so so good. Good fries here.

Bar and Grill? Really? This is a bar, pure and simple. And while it IS near the ocean, the name of the joint really should be «Kihei’s best damned sports bar». Located in Kukui Mall(really an anchor for it, if one ignores the theater), Ocean’s offers up an HD screen tuned to some sport or another all day every day. East Coast hockey? Check. Laker/Spurs? Check. Baseball? Check. Golf? Check. In other words, there’s something for everyone. Oh…the bar. A long line of beer on tap, including several locals, as well as the requisite piss required to be served at all bars in the US(Bud, Michelob, Miller, etc). They DO serve food as an aside, but you are so not going here for the food. You’re going here to root on your fav team while drinking some of your fav brew. And you’ll enjoy it.

Mango chicken skewers/Teriyaki skewers are 5 Star; all other food is par. Ambiance is great. Wooden panels fold back to provide the open air and cool breeze. Great nightlife as far as Maui goes; hosts local, up and coming band. If you are in eating when they start charging ~10pm at the door for night time event, they generally don’t charge to stay. Sy the bartender-greatness.

This place seems like it can be a good sports bar, but my visit was nothing special. Stopped in for happy hour, mainly because I just couldn’t get enough of that Longboard Lager while on my trip! There were good drink specials for happy hour(drafts and mai tais) and there are a lot of tvs in case there’s a game you planned to catch. But our service wasn’t all that good, which surprised me because there weren’t many people there. After running dry for an extended period of time, I ended up going to the bar myself to get another Longboard. While at the bar the waitress shows up. I don’t want to get up myself to give you my order. Not how this whole waitress-customer thing should work. Maybe we caught them on an off-night, but I’m checking out one of the many other bars next time around.

Great drink specials + friendly owners/workers + pool + nice bathrooms = Ocean’s Beach Bar and Grill Came for happy hour(4 – 6 everyday) and on a Thursday night at 10pm. Both times they were having drink specials and really, who doesn’t love that?! Where else can you get a Bikini Blonde or Longboard for $ 2.50? For happy hour, drafts were in the $ 2.50 range and $ 2 off their appetizers. Apparently at 10pm on weeknights(but you might want to verify this with them) I guess everything behind the bar is $ 3, except for top shelf liquor which costs a bit more. Translation: get your drink on for cheap! Both times we visited one of the owners + one employee served us at the bar. They were among the friendliest bartenders we’ve met! They provided useful local tips and carried a great conversation. The one thing I loved about this place was their clean bathrooms. As much as I love Kalama Village, their community bathroom that all the bars share is just disgusting. Ocean’s had their own renovated bathroom close by and made the night much more pleasant.
