Surf Club Maui

This was a great experience for my wife and I. We had paddle board lessons and Mike was our instructor. He was friendly, kind and patient with us. We had a great time. The owners were friendly and just nice people. They love to surf and it shows.

I took a surfing lesson from Mike with a few friends, the first or second time trying surfing for all of us. Mike was a great instructor who tailored his instruction and assistance to each person’s strengths and weaknesses. We spent a few minutes on the shore learning how to stand and then went off into the water. The lesson is located on a part of the shore with a very shallow slope so the water was never over your shoulders even out where we were catching waves. This makes it great even for people who aren’t completely comfortable swimming in open water. At first Mike helps each person individually by picking a wave, pushing them at the right time to catch it, and giving instructions on when to stroke, stand, etc. As each person improves at their own pace he adjusts his level of assistance with the goal being to help them identify, time, and catch a wave all on their own. It was a great experience for all of us and I would not hesitate to take another lesson from Mike.

Impeccable service and an amazing instructor. We wanted the best of the best so we went out with Mike for semi-​private lessons about 9 days in a row. Each day he helped us progress and gave incredible advice. I was catching my own waves by the third day and it felt amazing to be up on the board like a (novice) pro! Suzie runs a great shop and is easy to work with. Top quality boards and they take excellent care of their students. If you get a chance, go by Surf Club Maui and request Mike. Settle for none other than the best and Mike is it!

My 8 yr old daughter and I went out for a semi-​private lesson and had a great time! The instructor Mike does a great job and makes it really easy to learn (really nice guy too.) He got both of us on the board in no time (people were also remarking from the beach.) We had Mike on our last trip in Nov and had the same great experience. I would definitely take lessons and rent from here in the future.

Went to surf today with Surf Club Maui and it was a truly wonderful experience. I went with my sister and my dad for his birthday. All of us were new surfers and our instructor Mike was very patient and kind. He gave us great tips and stuck with us the whole time as we were falling and getting better until all three of us caught waves.
Surfing isn’t easy, and I think we couldn’t have experienced the Maui surf without these guys. They even gave us waterproof shirts that protected us from the sun and shoes to protect our feet. I would recommend Surf Club Maui to any of my friends visiting Maui. Thanks Mike for a great time, Mahalo!

We signed our 11 yr old son up for private surf lessons on March 31, 2015. Alex was his instructor. Alex was great and had him up on the surf board in the first 5 mins of being in the water! Our son really enjoy his time learning something new. We recommend this company to everyone interested in learning to surf!

This was a great experience for our 6 and 12 year old daughters. They got set up with quality gear– rash guard, booties and boards. The instructor was very friendly and easy for them to understand and learn from. The waves were mellow and easy for their first time and the beach access was convenient to walk across the street. They take really good pictures of all of the action too for purchase. Definitely recommend them! :)

Our paddle board instructor was Felipe. He was amazing! He showed us a great spot on Kalama Beach where all the turtles were hanging out! They were literally swimming all around us! Next time, he told us to wear our snorkeling goggles so we can stick our head in the water for a better view! Felipe also showed us how to catch a wave all the way to the shore. It was so awesome! My family & I now have our favorite beach sport because of Surf Club. Everyone is super nice! Suzy & Eva are great! Please don’t go to any other place in Kihei! We will definitely be back!!!

The team at Surf Club Maui is fantastic. We rented equipment and also had surf lessons for three kids. Our kids loved their instructor, Felipe, and asked to have him for all their lessons. Suzie, the owner, is flexible and responsive. The prices were very reasonable, less expensive then our home town of San Diego, and everyone was so friendly and caring. You get so much more than you pay for. Our vacation was truly made better when we stumbled upon this treasure. Thanks everyone at Surf Club Maui!

Just came back from four days of group surfing and SUP’ing with the Surf Club Maui team. They were prompt, professional, and extremely supportive of our group of 15 learners, nearly all newbies to the sport. We began our four-​hour sessions with a warmup on the grass, followed by 90 mins each roughly of surfing and SUP’ing. We were encouraged to (safely) push the limits of our comfort zone as we paddled into the waves, while also being given time to float at a more leisurely pace on our SUP boards to spot turtles and manta rays. What a delight; these people inspire confidence and comfort and have made a lifelong surfer out of this East Coast girl!

My husband and I scheduled a semi-​private SUP lesson — and it was fantastic. Titus was our instructor — he made us feel comfortable and gave some very useful tips. I highly recommend Surf Club Maui (aka: Action Sports Maui) for learning SUP. The day we had our session was really overcast, cold and rainy (we’re from Phoenix, so anything below 80 degrees seems «chilly» to us… me especially). We came in a few minutes early because it got pretty windy and started pouring. Though the crummy weather wasn’t her fault at all, the owner, Suzie, was there when we got back to the rental area and offered us a free board the next time we wanted to give it a try! (Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate the rest of our trip.) Nonetheless, we had a fabulous experience and we can’t wait to return! Mahalo Suzie and Titus!

Suzie was awesome to deal with … knew exactly what we needed and got us underway with great advice. Had a blast with my family. Ps. we were staying on the west side of the island and it rained (mid december) a fair amount, but it seemed this part of the island had all the sun — go figure. if we knew that sooner we probably would have spent even more time here! on a separate note, across the street was a decent place to snorkel (not worthy of a tour, but worth splashing around a bit!)
