Stopped in for a smoothie and got a frosty as well. The pineapple frosty tastes like a natural version of dole whip and the tropical smoothie was delicious. This is a small unassuming shop that serves a sweet refreshing treat.

Get the pineapple frosty. You will not be disappointed. We think they should call it a pineapple whip because it’s so light and creamy(without any dairy at all(.

We enjoyed a couple of trips to Banana Joe’s and bought some tasty local fruit, some baked goods and granola, and enjoyed a yummy smoothie.

We got the banana frosties and they were just alright. The biggest let-down of this place was the service. The woman at the counter was chatting with a friend standing there and didn’t even acknowledge my husband or me when we walked in(we were the only customers). We finally decided just to order frosties and not buy any produce, since the woman at the front was acting like we didn’t exist. The guy behind the counter where you order barked a few words at us and acted like he was so annoyed that there were customers there. We heard him telling another couple that walked in as we were walking out that they were also offering banana-pineapple frosties — something that wasn’t advertised anywhere, nor mentioned to us while we were ordering. I think the one with pineapple would have been much better. We won’t be back on our next trip.

Very disappointing! Went to here after hearing about how awesome the banana frosties were, but arrived only to find they were closed randomly on a Saturday. Decided to go back another day and then they were all out of bananas yet had a whole stock of bananas for sale.

Absolutely terrible. Disgrace of a business… Drove 45 mins on a recommendation only to find that they were closed on a Saturday… Came back today to only find out they are supposedly out of bananas. Yet they are selling bananas and cannot make their signature drink… Banana smoothie… What a joke

We stopped here after reading Unilocal reviews and Banana Joe’s did not disappoint! They seem to be famous for their banana frosties but we got the banana, sugarloaf pineapple, papaya smoothie and it was the best we’ve ever had! So yummy, we will definitely be back here next time we visit Kauai!

The banana frosty is amazing! It’s so crazy that it is made out of purely bananas! It tastes very decadent.

This is one of the highlights of our trip to the island and definitely something that we will recall fondly when we look back on our trip. It couldn’t be more simple, and yet I’ve never experienced it my travels. The frosty was a huge hit — so much so we had to come back again for a second visit.

My husband and I stopped here for smoothies and fresh produce when we stayed in Hanalei on our way from the east side of Kauai. We had pineapple banana smoothies and they were amazing! The frostie made of fresh pineapple was so refreshing as well, like pineapple ice cream. The fresh avocados were the best we ever had! It was well worth stopping here.

If you’re looking for a place to buy seasonal tropical fruit from a local farmer then Banana Joe’s is your place to go. It’s a small wooden house next to a mini gold course and easy to miss unless you’re looking for it. We actually programmed the mini-golf course into our GPS because Banana Joe’s doesn’t come up. When we were in Kauai, and able to go to Banana Joes’ we unfortunately didn’t have much to pick from other than Langan and Rambutan(both in the lychee family). I would have loved to try the egg fruit, but it wasn’t going to ripen before our departure to the mainland, so we had to skip it. I felt their prices were fair and they do have more than fresh fruit, like locally sourced honey and other products to offer patrons.

My Sis told me how wonderful a frozen banana was from here after an afternoon on the beach, so I was excited to try this place out. Too bad I left Banana Joe’s disappointed, it was mid afternoon and they were out of bananas. I got the pineapple frosty instead and it was just alright. Maybe next Kauai visit I’ll give them another try.

Stopped here salivating for the famous banana frosty. They were out on a Saturday at 3. What a let down! I get running out during high tourist season but we are here in March. Just seems like it should be managed better. Consider a sign that says you’re out of banana frosties since that’s what you’re known for. Since we promised a treat we bought the kids chocolate covered bananas. $ 4! And they were about the smallest bananas I’ve ever seen. I won’t be back.

Funky divey little store with interesting fruits and veggies and other specialty items… of course we stopped for the frosty. We tried the banana pineapple one and it did not disappoint! Pure fruit, frozen then blended. It was not very sweet but that’s the way we like it. Nice to have a frozen treat that wasn’t decadent

I came here once while on vacation in Kauai. I purchased some local bananas, 2 quart sized jars of honey for $ 14.99 each, and a pineapple frosty. The staff were friendly and helpful when I had questions about bringing the honey back to the mainland. They will also ship whatever you purchase for a flat fee. I wanted to get a pineapple, but the only pineapples they sold there were Dole Hawaiian pineapples. Maybe I was there out of pineapple season, but we went to a few other places that both had«local» pineapples, however I don’t know if «local» just means ‘any Hawaiian island’.

Read about Banana Joe’s in a travel book, so my husband and I stopped in for a smoothie… they had one smoothie to choose from, which they happened to be out of, so we ordered the frostie instead. The two girls working at the counter took a few minutes to finish their conversation then finally asked what we wanted. After a few more minutes of talking one of them decided to start on our order. I got the feeling that we were interrupting them and that they were literally thinking«How dare you stop in our store to buy something?!» Sorry girls for stopping by and distracting you from your very important conversation!

I think we came here 5 or 6 times on our 8 day vacation. They are closed on Sundays or it would have been one more time ;-) My husband and I loved to get a frosty. The banana pineapple frosty was good but we preferred the banana frosty. I also had the smoothie twice. Today’s smoothie had a long list of fruits along with lime juice(so good). They have locally made goodies. I had a chocolate chip macaroon that was tasty. I also had a bar with coconut, macadamia nuts, chocolate and butterscotch chips with a graham cracker kind of crust which reminded me of a homemade magic bar – so good. Not to be missed is the homemade popsicle in strawberry lilikoi flavor – that was my favorite item on the menu. I just loved this place. We *will* come back to Kauai, and when we do, we will be stopping here on a daily basis. I already miss it!

Smoothie is rockin’ But we bought a little Sugar loaf pineapple for $ 6.50 or so we thought. When we got to the hotel, the guys at the pool bar cut it for us. They were so embarrassed to give it back to us. «who sold you this» «Did they tell you it was sugar loaf?» Well, it was OK, but not what we paid for. But the bar crew felt so bad they gave it back cut up plus 2x more with regular pineapple. Get the smoothie but buy your produce at the next stop
