Kids picked this place because of the sharks, but it was pretty good. The fresh bread was hot and the hush puppy bread was great. The oil they sent to dip the bread in was kind of funky, though. The kids burgers were fresh and well prepared and good enough for me to eat. The Seafood trio was +2, –1 only because the shrimp were butterflied, resulting in them being way overcooked. The scallops and crab were every good. Fried oysters were tasty and delicious.

Great spot! Yummy food and great service… we had the calamari.. with a delicious pesto sauce in addition to the marinara.. table was served fresh round of bread in addition to hush puppy bread. My husband had the tuna Steak with steamed vegetables and rice while I had the crab Norfolk with delicious fresh mash potatoes and steamed vegetables left there very full with take away!!! Server was super friendly and helpful!

2.5. I ate all the salmon but only because it cost me $ 23. They charge fresh prices for less than fresh food. My dish tasted like it was basted in movie butter. I only came here because of the gimmicky sharks teeth for kids and gluten free options which are adequate if ur an adult but I needed kid options which don’t really exist. My daughter had to get appetizer wings for a meal, which she did enjoy but it wasn’t ideal. I was too grossed out to finish my wife’s plate of fish tacos which she described by shaking her head no when I asked her about her meal. OBX has so many mo’betta places to grub, there is no way in heck I’m coming back; not for all the shark teeth in the world!

This is one of our all-time favorites since 2001. Although it is not AS good as it used to be, it’s still good and the food is plentiful.

DON’T DRINKTHEWATER. Tastes like the got it straight from the toilet. Service was slow. We dined with another couple and our children. So glad we brought them as they learned quite a bit, from what is like to «run my pregnant ass back and forth» from the kitchen to our table to hearing about the 300lb expiditer who might kick her butt and let’s not forget, «if they serve bread with or appetizers we may make a meal of it.» Our party of 7 was seated for dinner and we orders or meal so far so good. Half way through our appetizers, the couple that was with us requested the bread they had on a previous visit. We were informed by our waitress that they don’t serve bread with the appetizers because«people make a meal of it.» When our meal came she finally brought the bread, which was yummy, however our table of 7 got the same amount of bread as the table of two next to us. When we asked for more, so that every one in our party could taste it, the waitress stated that she would get it, if the«300lb expiditer doesn’t kick her butt or elbow her in the face.» For some reason our entrees came without the starch and veggie and when we asked for them our watress stated«these new guys want to run my pegnant ass back and forth.» My husband ordered the grilled prime rib and my son and I enjoyed the French dip. The food was pretty good but we’ve had better, but the service was pitiful. I hope my child did not pick up on her poor work ethic.

We loved it here! It was fun, the service was great and the food was good. I like kitschy places and this restaurant fit the bill. They have 20% off adult entrees if you are seated by 5, which helps on vacation. They also give shark teeth to your kiddies if you ask the hostess on the way out. They also put Mako Mikes tattoos in the bill for the kids. We had an awesome server, Leah, who couldn’t do more for my husband, daughters and I. Try the artichoke and crab dip; it won’t disappoint. Also, they have the cutest dessert for the kids and it’s only $ 1.95! It’s red jell-o topped with whipped cream and gummy sharks. My girls loved it! We will definitely stop by on our next trip to the OBX!

We went for a quick lunch at 1:00 on a Saturday and the kitchen was insanely slow! Our server was nice and felt bad but it took over an hour to be served 5 salads and 2 sandwiches. The place was pretty much empty. When my mahi mahi sandwich came out the piece of fish was laughably small and the waiter served it to me while suggesting I send it back to the kitchen, which I did. The food was barely mediocre overall, and so slow.

Great atmosphere and great food. The service was fabulous. We had a party of 8 and were seated almost immediately. Everyone liked the food they ordered(which never happens). I’d give them 5 stars if the soda options weren’t so bad. They have Pepsi products get no Mountain Dew. Either switch to Coke or add MD to the Pepsi options!!!

Heard great things about this place but food was alright but the service was so terrible that I’ll never come back. When it takes 30 min to get a refill and your waiter disappears it’s not good

Nice atmosphere, terrible food. Everything had too much salt or no flavor at all. The frozen drinks had cool whip and no creamy flavor. The wait staff was inexperienced and kept mixing up our orders. Overrall, it was a big disappointment.

Menu was very diverse with a little bit of everything you would expect from a beach town menu. Service was timely and wait staff was attentive. Food was top quality. Will come back again!

Fried Shrimp was good. Definitely Fresh. Didn’t taste like oily deep fried batter. Steak was also good with Dr Pepper BBQ sauce.

Simply awful, we had a variety of dishes and they were all nasty. Watery crab cakes, over salted French dip, disgusting fish sitting in oil and all at astronomical prices. Do not eat here! The service was nice but it in no way made up for bad food. Just bad…

Not impressed with the inside, first time I’ve been here and possibly the last. Very out dated and was empty… There were a good amount of cars in the parking lot but not many people inside… My friend brought back leftovers that smelled delicious so we wanted to try it out. My husband got the pizza and enjoyed it. I got a special, yellow Tuna, salmon, shrimp and two sides; the food was pretty good. I wasn’t impressed with the clam chowder, it seemed to have been sitting in the pot for a while. Overall good food but pricy.

Service was a bit slow. They messed up two of our orders. My wife ordered pepperoni pizza, and got cheese instead. I ordered cole slaw as a side, but they brought me mashed potatoes, I got a fried oyster special. The oysters tasted fine, but there was a disappointing amount for the price. The«creamy» cole slaw was watery and flavorless. The only good thing was the pizza my wife got was pretty good. Honestly, there’s a thousand good places on the Outer Banks. I’d skip this one and eat somewhere else. Quite disappointed.

Great food great service and atmosphere. Our server was Shauna and she is fantastic. There is a full bar and you can eat your meal there. We had the Seafood Sampler $ 29 cup of Clam Chowder and Calamari.

One of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at. Incredible food! The Mahi Mahi, well, my husband just signed with enjoyment. The steak: Oh! My! Goodness!!! So tender and flavorful, just, ahhhhhh!!! The decadent dessert of Chocolate Beyond Reason was practically illegal! To top it off, our waiter, JP, was the best! Polite, knowledgeable, patient answering our questions. He could teach many others how a guest should be treated. Overall: 5 out of 5 stars!!!

We definitely weren’t impressed. We came here because it was the only nearby resturant without a wait(imagine that lol) and we had two cars of hungry people. Waitress was pleasant. It took forever to get our food and the place wasn’t very busy. Food was blah, bland, basic and boring and way overpriced. The highlight was the gift shop for the kids. We won’t be returning.

How do I put this delicately? I would rather swallow a rusty can full of glass shards and thumb tacks than eat a single bite from Mako Mike’s. If zero stars was an option here, they would get it. If negative 1 million stars was an option, they would get that. When you walk in, you are back handed with the smell of old mop water, 10 year old fryer oil, and men’s college dorm restroom. The hostess was flossing her teeth at the host stand. Our party decided to venture on since EVERYOTHERPLACE in OBX was on a 30 — 45 minute wait and we were hungry. Mako Mike’s probably has not seen a wait in the last decade, however when we called they said«we can seat you if you are here within the next 5 minutes». We sped our way there, walked in, and the place was deserted. After being seated, our waitress(RoadRunner or RR) as she will be referred to from here on out, zoomed by so quickly that I thought she might have violent diarrhea. We could barely get our drink order out before she was zipping away. When we asked the bartender if she could turn on the Redskins game, she let out a grunt without looking up from her crossword puzzle, and simply said: not on yet(for another 3 minutes). Magical ambiance. Once RR stopped by for longer than 1.3 seconds, we placed an order for appetizers and beers. Appetizers came out 20 minutes later(pretty long for fried fish in an empty restaurant but it was vacation so we didn’t mind waiting since we had our beers). Good coconut shrimp compliments of what was probably a 100 pound bag from Costco most likely — the calamari tasted like we were dipping chewed gum into Windex. I had some lobster bisque too, which tasted like a concoction of water and flour(not enough flour to make dough, but just enough to make«bisque»). Time for the main course. I had an epileptic seizure looking through the menu — it is the size of a novel, outlining choices from pasta, to sandwiches, to seafood, to(insert random cuisine here). Jack of all trades, master of none. We all ordered, and the food came out about 45 minutes later(must have been an epic paper football battle going on in the kitchen that night). I will preface the next sentence with this: I am fat, and I like food. I took 2 bites of my 30 dollar dinner. It tasted like it was fried in antifreeze and the fish may have been caught before the Vietnam war. The same went for the rest of the table — the broiled fish was essentially a pound of melted butter in which«fish» was boiled in. That meal was a reasonable 30 dollars as well. As for the décor, I’m pretty sure this was either a coke den, lazer tag or strip club back in 1983. The black light neon walls are a nice touch if you have decided to drop acid before your beach meal. I recently ate at Mako Mikes and had an okay experience. To start the restaurant has a really cool atmosphere but feels like an older interior. Could be revamped and cleaned up a bit. The service was great, we got greeted promptly and informed about the drink menu. I am glad the waitress did a good job as we were there on a slower night, she was a little pushy on trying to get us to order a dessert though. The menus have an insert that has the chefs special rather then just a small board with the specials on it. That proved helpful. On to the food. The tuna bite appetizer with spicy marinara was great! We also got served 2 different types of bread(corn bread and sourdough) both were delicious. I wanted a caesar side salad instead of a side but to substitute one for a side is an extra 3.50 which is a little pricey. I ordered the fried crab cakes with fries and mixed veggies. The fries and crab cakes were very tasty but the veggies had a large puddle of butter under them. My lady ordered the shrimp scampi pasta. The shrimp was well cooked but like my veggies the noodles were also smothered in butter. Overall it’s a cool place to eat, good food options and service, but a little pricey for the overall quality.
