Lots of fun getting a haircut… and he does a great job. Don’t get the glitter. :-)

I needed a haircut for my wedding. I found Ye Olde Barber Shoppe through Unilocal.Cooter, the owner and barber was a funny guy. He asked if I wanted to add glitter so I looked special for my wedding. I jokingly said«let me think about it», but my friends started to laugh. That’s when I noticed that Cooter had a small bottle of glitter in his hands. I quickly declined! Cooter had a lot of entertaining stories from his time in the armed forces and law enforcement. I was glad he didn’t mess with my hair since I’m a «yankee». Overall great experience and the price was right as well.

Great spot for a walk in. The barber had me laughing the whole time even if I am a Yankee. Would highly recommend to anyone in the kitty hawk area if you need a quick cut or fade while on vacation. Also, this guys prices are some of the best I’ve seen in years. Super affordable for being on an island.

I laughed so hard he had a hard time cutting my hair. If you’re a true American, you have to get your cut at this establishment. Oh yeah and my haircut was perfectly aligned and cut!

Found out about this barbershop from a friend who said the owner, Couter, did a great job. That was an understatement. I went early, just as it opened, thinking I would be the rush. I did, and there was no one else there while I got my cut and shave, but from the quality, no craftsmanship, at Ye Olde Barbershop, I can see how there might be a wait in prime time. Couter was great, good conversation, great haircut, he pays great attention to detail, and you can either have a three blade razor shave or a straight razor; choose which before hand. Take it from me guys, have a shave as well. Warm shaving cream, hot towel, good close shave, hot towel again and you’re feeling great; Man Spa! Can’t beat the prices, haircut and shave runs about $ 20 and you’ll probably tip well based on your experience. If you don’t like something, make sure and say. Couter is a cool guy and will work to make it right. Give Ye Olde Barbershop a try when you’re in the Outer Banks. Oh and enjoy Couter’s stories.

Was so happy to have found this place to get my 2 sons’ hair cut. This guy was personable and has a real passion for what he does. He just opened in January of this year and I know he’ll be a success. Thanks for 2 great haircuts at a reasonable price! Best of luck!

Down to earth good olé fashioned barber shop. Simple and satisfying haircut reasonably priced. No flair, two chairs and sitting area surrounding the inside walls. Got it done.

What a great find! A reasonably priced and professional barber shop by the beach. Like other reviewers mentioned, the barber here is friendly, personable, takes his time and gives a great haircut. Also, the haircut ends with a warm shaving cream and straightedge shave along the neck and ears – good luck getting something like this at a Haircuttery or Supercuts.

Gerrard is by far the best decision I have ever made for a barber. He is attentive, pays very close attention to detail, keeps the mood light was very fun jokes and great conversation, and also makes sure that every need is met. I stopped by there yesterday(Monday) but he was closed so I decided to go again today and I’m glad I waited. I highly recommend him to anyone needing a haircut, a fade, shave, trim or anything else that may be needed to get yourself looking sharp!

On my way to a beauty salon for my wife, I saw Ye Olde Barber Shoppe and said that it was time for my son to get his hair cut. Pulled in the parking lot, and it was a 2-seat place that was very clean and had a bathroom and tv to view. Master Barber Gerard Couture struck up a conversation, and it came out that he just opened in January 2014 after working for a while at the base 3 ½ hours away. It was a thrill for him to have his own shop with his own hours and he takes pride that he is the only barber on the Banks who can do a «real fade.» He said doing so many Marines you learn real quick how to do it right. In fact, on his business card it says, «Specializing in Military Hair Cuts & Razor Shaves!» On the wall is a bulletin board is where half is taken up by his own business cards with names on them. Gerard said it’s for the police that have come in to earn their 10 cuts, get one free. Everyone can do it! My son’s one on the side and five on the top was done quickly and professionally. It looked great. $ 12 but I left a $ 20. Well deserved. If you want a professional haircut from one who learned the trade on a military base then you want to go see Gerard Couture at Ye Olde Barber Shoppe. A clean 2 seater with someone who loves what he does and his work shows. Continued good luck with the business!
