Had I known that the road to this venue was going to be so narrow and hard to drive, I would not have come. The ticket said door at 8 and show at 9pm. No word on a opener. This being a Sunday I figured the show would be over by 10.30pm, with 2 hours of driving then by 1am I should be sleep. Well I should have known from that long stretch of the narrow drive things would not go that well. They did have an opener, the musician who I had gone to see didn’t perform till almost 10.30. Then the performers equipment malfunctioned. To top it all this local creep would not leave my daughter and I alone. We were there to hear good music, instead I was worried for our safety. Of course there was no security insight or aware of this local creep being such a nuisance. This place had many levels, but since the crowed was not large they had closed the upstairs. I’ve been to this musicians performance many times in a lot of other venues, but the crowed at this location was like a very bad dream.

Holy awfulness. Went here for a bachelor party and after paying $ 20/head just to get in the door realized what a grave mistake we made. The bar set up itself is pretty cool with an upstairs and downstairs and bands on both floors, but that’s only good if the bands are good. The night we went was a Fred Durst wannabe. It was so terrible. There is also a reason it’s called the Pickle Barrel. If you like«pickles» then you’ll definitely find them here.

Was there Thursday night to see Live at the Filmore, got there early, no cover charge. Kevin our bartender took care of us all night. Just had wings, band was great, crowd was small but loud. Special thanks to Kevin, good drinks all night, very friendly. Will go back!!!

I went to a concert at pickle barrel with two other people last weekend. We left from my friends place in Massachusetts and it did not take the 2 and a half hours mapquest had claimed. I guess they had not factored in that the last hour of the drive has a speed limit of 25−40mph so take this into account if you’re coming from another state. We had several problems with way the venue ran the concert. They had advertised it all over Facebook and their website as starting at 9pm. They did not start until at least 20 minutes after 9 and the main act did not come on until 10:20pm. Normally this wouldn’t be a huge problem but this was a Sunday night and people have work the next day! We had to wait in the car for a few hours considering they did not open the doors til 8. So did lots of other people. I know people were getting angry because I kept seeing them walk up to the door and get turned away. Once we got in I actually did like the venue. It was set up in a way that the stage has a small floor in front of it. The back and sides are elevated. There are tables and chairs if you’re not into standing at a show. Something I found odd was while the singers were performing, nobody stood on the floor in front of the stage. People just shyly stood in the back. I guess it’s better for me because I went up front and it felt like a private show most of the night. Towards the end of the show people let loose and started dancing. It was pretty odd considering we were seeing a musician who did not play anywhere close to dance music. I felt like I was at a country concert with all the line dancing. I was taking a video at the end and some super creepy drunk man came up to me and kept telling me «put your phone down and dance with me» and proceeded to stare me down for the rest of the show. It was a scary experience and I was grateful to have two other people with me. I would definitely hesitate to return to pickle barrel unless an artist I love is playing there. The drive was terrible especially after the show in the dark. Some of the people who hung out there scared me and were clearly not there to see the show and just look for women. I would even hesitate to go there if I were a local. I can only imagine what goes down when everyone is drunk. If it weren’t for my bad experience I would have found this venue enjoyable. I think the people who run the place should be a little more courteous and honest about what time the show is actually starting.

Was told we could could have complimentary entrance with dinner at the foundry next door but was treated rudely by the person at the door. Decided to go elsewhere…

Basically a fine bar, but the cover is $ 20, and he staff is incredibly rude. After a steam of people came out, the bouncers still wouldn’t let us in saying, «no one in one out policy after midnight,» which makes no sense. At the end of the day, it gets crowded, it costs too much, and they act like they can treat people terribly with no repercussions.

Went here for New Years Eve and waited in line for a half hour even though I bought a ticket online 2 weeks prior. One ticket to get in was $ 65. If I’m spending that money to get into a bar at a ski mountain there shouldn’t be a line and maybe some perks besides entrance fee. Finally got inside and tried using the coat rack and it was full. The bar was extremely packed and couldn’t move. Bathroom lines were outrageous as there were only two stalls for the girls. The men’s bathroom had water overflowing from the toilet 2 inches deep on the ground. Overall terrible experience and unsure as to why this place has such a big hype to it.

Poor bar, poor service. I went in and immediately ordered 7 shots(surfer on acid) and 1 beer from some middle aged bar tender. Moments later I asked for another 7 shots(Alabama slammers), and was told that she is not making my crappy mixed drink shots. I explained that I was going to order 7 at a time — she offered shots of fireball or vodka instead. I declined and left. For those who are curious I tipped $ 1 per drink ordered.

This place is sub par at best. Myself and 18 other girls came here for a bachelorette party. The dude Mike was great gave us a VIP section the whole nine yards. The mixed drinks and rude bartender really ruined my experience. We sent back multiple drinks due to the fact they ‘forgot’ to put the alcohol in. $ 8 for a cup of monster #no. Also if you don’t bring cash up to the bar expect to be ignored by the ignorant bartender. Also this place smelt like egg farts all night. Only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because they have a shuttle(which was 20 minutes late) that picks you up and drops you off.

The title about says it all. Our favorite bar in Killington. And probably our favorite bar. Anywhere. The music is always loud and the scene is always fun. Just don’t come too late or you get stuck in line. And don’t miss the mini skirt party

The cover is outlandish, and you can find cheaper drinks in NYC. Decent party vibe, but there are a lot of dudes and older people acting like they are college kids. The bartenders are pretty rude – I saw someone tell the bartender that it was his buddy’s birthday and the bartender actually responded by saying«I don’t give a shit.» Also, if you’re a guy and it’s later in the evening, watch out – the bartenders will find reasons to cut you off and kick you out. This happened to my friend. He tripped on a stair after 3 beers and they asked him to leave. On the way out we met THREE other guys that were kicked out under similarly shady circumstances. I think they do this to even out the guy/girl ratio. Still, a fun place to be if the employees aren’t being dicks.

My fiancé and I stopped in to grab a little food on a thursday evening after driving 7 hours and getting settled at our lodge. I was hoping to maybe find some music too and grab a dance or two even though it was relatively early for that(9-ish). When we walked in we found the music thumping which was just fine with us. We really liked the rustic, all wood décor and nice multi-level layout with a great view of the stage from every angle. So there’s a really neat feel to the place and they get in live bands regularly. Unfortunately for us the band didn’t start til later. As we walked in the bar waitress asked if she could get us anything and when we told here we were up for some food she directed us to some tables and said she’d send the waitress over. A very nice young lady arrived a short time later with a pretty small bar menu(pizza, wings, chicken fingers, mozz sticks…) We ordered the nachos and a couple drinks. The drinks were fine. The nachos were truly awful. We’re still not sure if they were corn or flour tortillas or something else. They were odd tasting and it was nearly impossible to find a crispy one in the whole soggy mess. I have to give them credit though, when they couldn’t find the sour cream that we had asked for, they ran to their neighboring restaurant to get some for us. We picked at our nachos because we were both pretty hungry but we wanted to order something else. It took forever for the waitress to come back so that we could do so and then forever until the chicken fingers arrived. The chicken was decent, but by the time we got it we were ready to get going and then we had another long wait until we could check out and leave. This place had a lot going for it in atmosphere but otherwise sort of fell apart. I wouldn’t go back, but I have a feeling if you’re going for music and dancing a little later and don’t care so much about food, you’d be just fine here, but for me, the food has to be good and i was really frustrated about the slow service.

I was here with a promotional team for a weekend full of events. This type of place is generally not my style BUT we had so much fun! My observation was that everyone was having a great time! I met so many great people from all over the U.S. that I still keep in touch with! Make sure you go with a group of fun people!

When I was in Killington, I was with one massive group. The guy in charge of this massive group got us alll VIP passes to this place called the Pickle Barrel. In addition to going to a place called the pickle barrel… we were all dressed like the 80’s… yeah we’re cool. Anyways, I decided to wear my Chive shirt(fellow chivers out there — holla) and I was having the time of my life. They had a live band there that weren’t singing just rock songs, but also top 20 songs too which was actually REALLY cool and really fun! The establishment is 2 stories and they have this balcony type area where you can look over and watch the band. When the band needs a break, they lower the lighting and TV system and play the music videos for the songs. It’s definitely a pretty awesome, dancey type of place. I ended up having SO much fun. Without the VIP passes, it would have been way more than just 5 bucks to get in here, so I am very thankful for the VIP passes. All in all — Awesome time, awesome place and great fun :] Enjoy!

This place is a cross between Johnny Utah’s in NYC and the basement jelly wrestling scene of Old School. What do I mean? Bullriding or a jelly pool seem like they belong in the middle. This place is also strikingly similar to a large frat house. Not that there is anything wrong with that but at least at a frat house you don’t run up a large tab. The only way I would go back is if Snoop Dogg had another concert there.

Pretty girls get free cover. That’s the best I can say about it. Wait, what?! A place in Killington, Vermont charges cover(and 20 bucks at that)? Yeah, and that’s not the worst. The worst is that my vodka soda costs the same($ 8) as it does in downtown Chicago. Yup, you read that right. And Bud Lights will run you $ 6. I was so flabbergasted at the prices I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. Ok, there’s a live band, but meh. Being there on a race weekend, the place was packed, so perhaps they are upcharging for the crowds, but who knows. I much prefer JAX next door. A «dance club» in Killington just makes no sense…

We arrived at the pickle barrel at 830PM. That was totally our mistake as we did not understand the concept I guess. We had a drink but then realized it was a waste of our time, so we took the shuttle to our hotel and came back at 1015 pm. Whe we came back, they did not charge us cover for the band, and this place was totally rocking! The band really sucked but it didnt matter! We danced and danced, and the music in between sets was actually pretty good! I think its a great place if you get into it… I think there is some kind of rivalry between them and the Wobbly Barn, and I would say do both if you’re there more than one night because both are fun, but I think, objectively that Pickle Barn are NICER, and that in and of itself made this night more enjoyable. They were friendly and accomodating and talked to us and made a real effort and I felt it was genuine so that makes for fonder memories in writing this review. And makes for 4 stars. So yay Pickle Barn!

This is a super top 40 clubby vibe in the middle of an otherwise very chill world. They do have some legit performers from time to time, which can make the $ 20 cover charge worth your while… but if you’re not going for the band don’t keep your hopes up high. One tip for the non-blacked out. the upstairs is an infinitely more chill scene than the downstairs.

Reminds me of Groundhogs Day. Always the same overpriced cover charge, rude doormen who over scrutinize your alcohol consumption and treat you suspiciously. Same type of band every time. This place sucks. The pizza is good. Its sometimes fun during happy hour to go and get pizza. But happy hour has a cover charge too. To be fair, I have had great bar service here. And, yes, I keep going back because this is where people go while in Killington. Kill me now. PS– people are always farting on the dance floor. i assume it is because there are more men than women in here. COMEONGUYS!

I went up to Vermont for the weekend with a few friends and we decided to venture out to Pickle Barrel because 1. they provide a free(tip only) shuttle, 2. they have live bands, and 3. pickles are my favorite food so i love anything with pickle in the name. The shuttle was awesome. We called at around 6 o’clock and they came promptly to our house on the mountain at 9:30. The driver was friendly, and told us that he’d be happy to give us a ride home later but to try to get out a bit before 2AM to beat the crowds. Once inside, I cringed as I handed over my $ 20 cover. I know I was warned about this, but I was hopeful that maybe the cover would be less expensive. I’m not really sure why they charge this much — I’ve lived in Boston for 4 years and have yet to pay a $ 20 cover here… so who knows. The bar itself was great. The live band was really amazing and I loved the setup. Downstairs there was a huge dance floor with a bar around the outside. Upstairs there were two more bands and another(quieter) live band. In between sets the DJ played your typical top 40 and I was happy to see lots of people dancing the whole time. The dress was a little bizarre. Some people looked like they were wearing pajamas, others were really dressed up and some had a mixed look, complete with a dressy top and dirty snow boots! My biggest problems with Pickle Barrel were that in addition the expensive cover, the drinks were not cheap. Bud lights were about $ 6(plus tip) and although I didn’t buy any I heard the mixed drinks and shots were pretty pricey as well. Also, at around 1:30AM, the bouncers started kicking out random guys throughout the bar. I have no idea why they were doing this(to clear out the bar? to lessen the coat check line? to leave a room full of drunk girls?) but I watched more than a few guys getting dragged out in the last 30 minutes. Strange. Still, it was nice to have the shuttle bring us back home and overall we had a great time at Pickle Barrel.
