I was just passing though King City to get to San Francisco for a bit of a vacation. Thought about grabbing a bit to eat. I saw V’s Diner and thought that it looked pretty good. I went to the door at about 7:20, and it was locked. A bit strange, but another person told me that it was just about to open. Ok, I thought. As I was returning to my car, the doors open. Cool. I go in, and get served after a few minutes of looking at the menu. I got a Denver Omelette for 9.99 and it was huge! Almost the size of my head. It tasted good too. The peppers were fresh and the ham was tasty. Tl;dr, I recommend you go there for a quick bite to eat sometime. Good food, good service, friendly customers

I’ve been here quite a few times, and although the food is decent, the service is horrible and really actually quite laughable. The waitress is always unprofessional and rude, to the point where we actually up and left on one occasion because of her attitude and constant problem of always seeming unapologetic. Based on the service alone I will not be eating here ever again; I would rather spend my money elsewhere on subpar food where the service is warm and welcoming than spend it at this place.

My dish was country fried steak and eggs. The steak was huge, took the room of a while plate. Gravy was peppered correctly but no bits of sausage. Hash brown were more like hash tans but good. Over all the service was good and the food was on point. Will definitely go again when in the area.

Sorry folks, but I would not recommend this place. For a Tuesday night with hardly any customers. The wait was ridiculous, the vegetables were still partly frozen, steak was gristle. The only upside was the dinner salad, fresh and crisp.

For a breakfast spot in the middle of nowhere it was surprisingly good– even though it would never make it in a big city. The place was awkwardly quiet, the service was very slow and the options were very basic. But hey– it’s a last resort! We had he corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and sourdough. Our favorite thing was sadly the sourdough toast(they use SF style bread!) because the other items were unbalanced with seasoning. The corned beef was extra salty even though we are pretty sure it came out of a can! And the potatoes had no herbs, salt or pepper. The eggs were cooked well but also needed some kind of base seasoning. Overall I would rather hold off eating for an additional hour than stopping here again…

If I was nicer I would give V’s 5 Stars. The Tilapia Dinner pictured above came with everything pictured + a BOWL of clam chowder, all for $ 8.99!!!

Typical diner. My husband ordered breakfast because it’s served all day, and thought it was good. I ordered the tuna croissant which came with dark tuna and lots of mayo inn the croissant so I wasn’t as happy with it. I should have ordered breakfast.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this was probably the best food in King City. We went to a few places in the area(including Denny’s) and weren’t thrilled with the options presented(or served) to us. We came here for breakfast since it was in the parking lot of the Super 8 where we were staying. For a Sunday, it wasn’t overly packed and we got a table immediately after walking in. As soon as we sat, we were offered coffee, handed menus and then left to check out the choices. Breakfast is usually a safe bet wherever you go since it’s pretty hard to eff up eggs. With that mentality, we both went with the breakfast croissants — one veggie and one with bacon. To spice things up, I added avocado to mine to give it a little something extra. The food came out within 10 minutes or so and were presented with two big croissants stuffed with eggs, avocado, bacon(on mine), cheese, and tomatoes. As I had imagined, the bread was super buttery, so if you’re really trying to cut down on calories, you might want to seek something else out. But in all honesty — if you’re trying to cut down, a croissant is probably not the best of choices regardless. The meal came with a side of hash browns and when it was all said and done, ran about $ 12 after the avocado addition. Not too shabby, but not too cheap for café eats either. I was definitely stuffed and my co-diner couldn’t even finish hers. We both agreed it was worth it though as the meal was going to stick with us for the remainder of the day. Service was prompt and our waitress was friendly — our coffee cups were never half empty either. If I’m ever in King City, now knowing the limited amount of spots to eat, I’d consider coming back here for more breakfast binging.

Microwaved bland food, dusty mix-mash décor, teeny salad bar, comfortable seating, ample parking, but makes Denny’s seem gourmet. I only go if someone else chooses it, California Club sandwich and seasoned fries are the best item on the menu but I could make the same at home.

Es schmeckt Mega gut!!! Auch wenn das Diner von außen etwas abgerockt aussieht. Das Essen ist super.

On our way to Santa Cruz and we made a pit stop in King City. Instead of having breakfast at a chain restaurant like Denny’s we decided to try out V’s Diner. We were very disappointed with the slow service and dusty old décor. As for the food, it was just ok.

Haven’t been here since senior year of high school. The food is still outstanding!!! They still have Awesome burgers!!! Yikes were they good :)). Hubby ordered the chilli burger and I ordered the turkey burger. Best chilli i have had in a really long time. The waitress was really friendly and gave us some advice in what to order. I ordered some ice tea and it tasted like the ice tea my grandpa use to make out in the sun. They put so much love and freshness into the food that it shows. I defiantly recommend getting desert too. I ordered the carrot cake and it was simply heaven!!! Defiantly coming back :))

It has apple pie and coffee. Don’t be a dumbass, why would you write a review of this place and give it 3 stars? It exists in the godforsaken stretch of 101 between SLO and SF, its competition is taco bell: in its universe it’s a five star joint. And appearantly a Unilocaler attended a wedding in this town, awesome.

Just like any other diner: This place was nothing special, but if you are looking for a quick bite this is the place to go. It is exactly what you would expect from a diner and I really can’t complain. We had a patty melt which was OKAY($ 9) and a grilled cheese($ 8) which was great.

2014, Thanksgiving weekend, and none of the workers seemed upset to be working. Service was friendly, coffee was endlessand the Hash Browns were the BEST i ever tasted…, gotta say this place was pretty decent and the price tag was affordable too. Portions were ample, i mean, what more do you want from a Diner experience? Thanks to the workers at V’s Diner, you made it a tastey experience!

If you want fresh food, this is NOT the place to go. most of their food is frozen or boxed. The mashed potato I ordered was so bad that I had to ask the manager if what they gave me was boxed flakes potatoes(not made with fresh potatoes) and is fact– she did confirmed it was boxed flakes. Also the stake tasted reheated not freshly cook.

Let me start out by saying that I have lived in King City for 23 years and have eaten at V’S several times. Before the owners of V’S assumed ownership, the restaurant was named Tabacci’s. This morning my wife and I went to eat breakfast there. The waitress(she has identified herself in the past as one of the co-owners) came to our table and asked us if we wanted any beverages. We just decided on water as we had already had coffee at home. She gave us a few minutes to decide on our order then came back to our table and took our order. I ordered the V’S Breakfast Value Special, which consisted of two eggs, hash browns, sausage and bacon and pancakes. My wife had French Toast and bacon. When our food arrived, both of our orders were cold. My wife summoned the waitress and told her about this and she retorted«Well it was just cooked, so how could it be cold»!!! She and others — I assume family or friends — were busy taking down Christmas/holiday decorations. Also, there were no other patrons in the restaurant. Our guess is that the food was cooked(by her husband, who is also a co-owner) and then not picked up by her right away, as she was busy taking down the decorations and visiting with the others helping her. She took part of my order(the pancakes) and reheated it in the microwave. The hash browns, eggs and sausage I decided not to have microwaved due to the fact that I didn’t want to ruin the sunnyside-up eggs. My wife was visibly upset at the waitress’ attitude and elected not to have her order reheated. When we were about finished eating, my wife summoned the waitress again and asked her if we could have a Styrofoam container for the left over food. The container was never brought, instead the waitress kept taking down the decorations. After we finished eating, we went up to the cash register to pay. The waitress continued to put away the decorations. Finally she came to the register and said that she had to total our order. After she totaled it, I paid for the order and told her at that point that she just lost a regular customer and walked out. My wife apparently continued where I left off and berated her for the poor service and attitude she exhibited, also telling her that she lost a couple of local and regular customers. The waitress said she was sorry and my wife stormed out as well. The food is plentiful and relatively palatable, but the service and the attitude exhibited by this particular owner/waitress leaves a lot to be desired. I have to also say that this is not the first time I have encountered her less than professional attitude. We will likely not be coming back. I intend to write her a personal letter, in addition to this review.

I decided to eat at this diner because I had just completed a 108 mile AIDS Lifecycle leg of the total ride. It was across the street from the Motel 6 and I wasn’t in the mood to walk back to the park for a cold meal. The food was decent and I would say better than some of the overpriced, overrated diners you’d find in San Francisco, and for half the price. I rarely eat hamburgers, but I ordered a jalapeño burger and a the chiles were fresh, not pickled, and the fries were cooked just right. The other plates I saw come out seemed to have satisfied customers. The service was great even though they were overwhelmed by other riders coming in for a meal. The only complaint I have is that they didn’t open early enough for me to sample their breakfast.

This is a family diner conveniently located right off 101 in King City, well situated for a pit stop driving from down south to the Bay Area. We came here for dinner while staying overnight in King City on vacation recently. I especially liked the location of V’s Diner, tucked away in a grassy, oasis-like corner of King City, near a couple of hotels, away from the main city grittiness. It was pleasant just relaxing in our booth and looking out the window at the willow trees swaying in the wind(see my photo). The food is standard family restaurant fare, think Denny’s or equivalent. My wife had a problem with her order, the Tuna Supreme Sandwich was very spicy, even though there was no indication on the menu. It was so spicy she ended up having to send it back, and got a regular Tuna Melt which was okay, although somewhat plain. We also had milkshakes, inexpensive, but also not a very big serving. Service was efficient and friendly. Overall, probably a decent place, and I wouldn’t harshly judge them on the basis of one visit. My parents have stopped there several times and always liked it, and it is well located and convenient.
