Bed Bath & Beyond

Wow. When I have a sub-​par experience at a retail store, I usually just shrug it off and perhaps give them another shot in the future. However, I feel like they go out of their way to just really make you experience terrible here.

What to say, what to say. Bed Bath and Beyond is an awesome store with awesome products. There are all kinds of awesome things to make your life easier in the kitchen and lots of cool stuff to enable you to live a healthy lifestyle. That being said the BB&B in Plymouth compared to the KOP store are night and day. Sure, both stores have the same products and decent prices but the employees in KOP were acting like they were working on a chain gang and in Plymouth Meeting it felt like the Care Bears™ cloud headquarters.
We went in, looked for what we wanted, it wasn’t there so we needed to do an order that would be shipped directly to the person. The cashier was calling for help since we would need to be taken care of in the registry section and after waiting like 10 seconds, gets back on the phone and starts sounding super annoyed. Finally they send us to the back section where we wait to be helped. A girl comes over and is visibly agitated. We give the order information, and then I told her I text a number to get a 20% off coupon and it never came and I asked if she would accept it anyways if I’d show her the text message.
She says to me, I’ll do it for you… THIS TIME. Oh thank you Queen, you’re too good to me, you show such generosity. I forgot one of the 75 20% off coupons they’d sent over the last two weeks so she had to call in an «accommodation coupon». I would have rather her been nice and apologize and say she couldn’t do it then hold it over my head like now I owe her something.
Finally we checked out and left and sure enough the Queen was standing next to the door banging out heaters like an NYPD Blue interrogator blowing smoke all over people coming in and out of the store. Listen, I understand sometimes people don’t like their jobs but internalize it and take it out on a wack a mole at the KOP Mall arcade.
I gave BB&B two stars because the manager was super nice as was one other girl I talked to and the products are awesome but the overwhelming feeling there is of low worker moral and clock watching.

I will not give this store a single star simply because it pales in comparison to every other BB&B I’ve been to in terms of customer service. I visited the Plymouth Meeting BB&B and was blown away by their customer service. I was shopping off a bridal registry and they were so incredibly helpful, concerned, and friendly. When one of the items wasn’t in stock they called around to see if they could locate another. We found it at the KOP store and they asked customer service to hold the item. Meanwhile, they gift wrapped everything I got, leaving space for the final item. When the manager saw the boxing wasn’t finalized he made sure I was okay and happy with that option. So considerate!
However when I got to KOP, they were far from helpful and considerate. The woman behind the customer service desk was almost rude in how unhappy she was. She directed me to the self-​serve gift boxing section after I picked up my last item. I had to finish the packaging myself of a large and heavy box (standing in front of a male employee sitting at the gift registry desk who never acknowledged me and never offered to help). Awful, awful customer service which has assured I will NEVER shop at this particular BB&B ever again.

This BB&B isn’t much to look at from the outside, but I enjoyed my experience there. The Beyond part is my favorite…
This particular store has a large what I would call «health & beauty section» selling shampoo, toothbrushes, etc. I don’t particularly like or dislike this, but I think it took some space away from the stuff I would typically look for bed bath and beyond to have. HOWEVER, they did have the largest travel toiletry section I’ve ever seen anywhere. Also not what I would expect for BB&B, but I really like tiny toiletries, so this made me happy and I left with no less than 10 tiny bottles.
