Just went into the cake box, tried to order a cake for a birthday party. The counter staff was inept, the gentleman behind the counter who I know to be the owner was extremely rude when I asked questions about sheet cakes and sizes etc. Obviously his cake making abilities have gone to his head. Kinda reminded me of the episode of Seinfeld where they have to deal with the soup Nazi period. Stay away from this establishment at all costs

I like the fresh baked goods smell when I come in here. The girls behind the counter are nice. It reminds me of a bakery I used to work at. Very nice quaint atmosphere. Baked goods have always been good. Sometimes it can be a bit of a wait During morning or lunch, but it’s worth the wait! :)

While waiting for South Pine St. farm to open up, we went across the street to Cake Box to hang out and grab a snack, mostly because it was the closest place available. I’m glad it was! They cakes are straight up eye candy. And better yet, they taste better than they look. My wife had the chocolate mousse cupcake and I had a cream puff. Chocolate mousse cupcake: moist chocolate cake with light, fluffy chocolate mousse covered in chocolate. Deeply chocolatey, but not overly sweet. Cream puff: light and fluffy pâté choux pastry split in half and filled w/an incredible amount of custardy cream and topped w/thick, rich whipped cream. Be careful you don’t spill the cream on your shirt. We also grabbed a box of cookies to go which were enjoyed by everyone. I’ll have to add this a regular part of buying vegetables. Unfortunately, they don’t sell slices of the cakes so I’ll have to splurge and buy a whole cake for dinner. You can eat cake for dinner!

I first had a Cake Box cake at my friends’ wedding. These friends had raved about their experience working with the staff on their wedding cake(they handled a same-sex wedding professionally and seamlessly). The cake equaled their experience. The cake itself was moist and delicious, the icing was fluffy and flavorful. I’ve since been in multiple times and purchased a variety of cakes(including mocha… a long favorite since the days of spending time with my grandmother) and each has been well received. Most recently, I ordered my birthday cake from them(with less than 24 hour notice). They had a nice assortment of fillings and frostings. I settled on a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and peanut butter frosting. I was limited in the type of cake(vanilla, chocolate or marble) I could choose. That’s not a complaint. I would rather they focus on only a few types and do them extremely well(which they do). The Cake Box also sells an assortment of rolls and breads and I’m looking forward to trying their breakfast and lunch selections.
