Great food, amazing atmosphere, great service! I had my birthday dinner here and have been coming here for a few years and never am disappointed! It’s delicious southern style food which reminds me of my trip to New Orleans!

A little pricey but very good food. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Kind of dark and intimate, which I like. Perfect for date night :-) Open kitchen inspires confidence because you can see what they’re making and how.

The food is ok. Every burger I’ve ordered has been over cooked. I have had a few good specials. It’s fairly new so they might kick it up a notch when the locals get bored.

Stayed with a couple of friends in Shokan and decided to go out for a nice dinner in Kingston. The rooftop area was pretty crowded, and not a lot of space to sit underneath one of the heat lamps so we sat inside. The décor is almost a mix of rustic and industrial, but manages to stay cozy and inviting. Our server talked up the salmon and scallops special so we knew one of us was going to have to get it. I ended up taking the plunge. My friends both got the BBQ plate. So much delicious food on our table. The berry balsamic martini I ordered to start was unexpectedly good. Rimmed with black pepper and just the right amount of sweet. They know what they’re doing in cocktail land. Not cheap, but still reasonable for the type and quality of ingredients they use. Great for date night or dinner with a small group.

I dropped by for some chicken and waffles, which are always amazing, jalapeño butter is key. And lo and behold, one dollar Corona! That kept us at Frogmore for the duration, and a last call Jameson did not hurt. Keep the deals coming!

I wish we could review the food but we didn’t get that far. Other Unilocalers have commented on the service being problematic but our experience took the cake. The evening started well — I had reserved a table and it was ready for us when we arrived. A cozy booth in a bright room with an open kitchen — nice. After we sat down, a male server came and filled our water glasses and gave us menus and then… we waited. And waited. And waited. Servers of various kinds rushed by, the manager went by, the hostess went by and nobody even made eye contact with us. WBF(wonderful boy friend) wanted to leave — but my son was with us and he was hungry. We waited some more, and finally the same person who poured our water came to take our order. He asked how we were doing and WBF said«Thirsty!». The waiter seemed surprised and WBF explained that we had been waiting a long while for someone to take a bar order. Waiter did not even apologize, just told us he was busy with another table. I was willing to give this a try, despite the rocky start, but WBF said, «OK, lets move on and put this behind us» and the the server rolled his eyes and said, «Jesus». Let me just repeat that — the server ROLLED his EYES and used an epithet with CUSTOMERS. We could not stand up fast enough. Seriously??? You expect me to sit there once you have insulted me and been rude and disrespectful in front of me and my 10 year old? We immediately discussed this with the manager. She handled the situation wonderfully — was very attentive, suitably appalled and offered us a gift certificate. We thanked her, but that was not why we were talking to her. This situation was pretty appalling. There are other amazing places to eat in Kingston and the surrounding area. Until The Frogmore gets their service issues worked out I recommend any place but here.

I just love a place like this… friendly wait staff, cool casual and delicious. Loved the Pesto Penne with Chicken. The chicken was truly moist, flavorful and amazing!

Not bad… was hoping to be «wowed» but still enjoyed. First — the hostess and the server were great. Friendly and cool — with a good sense of humor. But I made the mistake of being insanely hungry when I arrived there. I ordered a beer and it took a strangely long time to be delivered… same deal with the appetizers. One table came in and was seated after us… and they received dinner before we got the appetizers… so something was a little off with our order. That said, we had the: –Korean steamed buns with shiitake mushrooms(this was my favorite one… really good!) –Mussels and fries — mussels were a little bit fishy; the fries were really good. There were pieces of bacon in the broth — not sure if they were meant to be eaten but some were terribly chewy. Broth was tasty overall. They dump the fries on top of the pile of mussels… so if you have an aversion to foods touching each other, this is not for you. –Sweet potato tots — they were decent — not sure if these were homemade(they’re small discs that are extremely uniform in size…) One of the specials was a seafood gumbo over dirty rice. Good flavor; nice heat. Some crawfish, salmon and mussels along with a few other things(andouille?). The mussels didn’t seem fishy to me this time… but the consistency was off on some of them(almost like they weren’t fully cooked — more like raw oysters than cooked mussels). My companion had the burger with cheese, a fried egg and pastrami. The bread was super dense — really good roll(with lots of butter!). The pastrami was chewy and she gave up even trying to eat the burger… it was too tough. Overall, I like the vibe of this place. I’d try it again at some point but maybe a few of the dishes need to be «un-kinked» a smidge.

Nice folks, but not sure the ribeye was actually ribeye. The cut was tougher than usual. The duck fried potatoes were smoked – likely liquid – that I was not aware would be the case… was looking forward to it but it wasn’t good. THe glass of wine I was poured must have been the end of a bottle that had been sitting out… no nuance-just alcohol. Not good for $ 8/glass. The patio is awesome! I was quite disappointed in the food. Perhaps we will try again and go for apps and smaller plates instead.

Atmosphere is awesome! Top deck was lovely. Food, drinks and service was lacking and I’m so bummed to say that because I really was excited to dine here. 1st– There was a specialty cocktail being offered at the downstairs bar and the bartender was giving it huge raves. When we were seated on the top deck, we were told that the specialty cocktail was only being offered downstairs. ?!? We met friends there who had ordered their drinks, and so my boyfriend was intrigued by his friend’s «Almost Perfect Manhattan.» He ordered it, and 10 minutes later… a totally different drink, in a totally different glass with totally different fruit and ice was placed in front of him. He had hoped the waitress had gone out of her way to get him the specialty cocktail, but… Nope. It was a strange concoction from the bartender. When he asked for a new drink, the waitress was happy to exchange, but when she brought it back to the bar… Her facial expressions were pretty epic. He received another«Almost Perfect Manhattan» 15 minutes later. When our food was brought out, the gentleman was trying to juggle 3 plates and didn’t realize that my boyfriends $ 26 Steak was actually resting in my $ 26 Paella.(I work in a kitchen and service industry and if you can’t carry 3 plates, make two trips/use a tray and for GODSAKES keep your fingers out of the inside of the bowls and plates). Steak was delicious, but was lacking in potatoes and veggies. Paella was bland and needed a kick of spices. 4 people and $ 205 later… Not really worth the money. And to the waitress, if your customer wants the specialty drink for $ 13, get it for him! He will be a much happier camper. :)

We were shown by staff how to get to upstairs bar. When we got to the roof bar the other staff told us that we shouldn’t have been sent up to the roof bar area. There are no more tables and we can wait downstairs until one opens up. Which was quite unwelcoming and awkward. We really wanted to sit at the roof top bar so despite our hostess telling us to go downstairs to wait for a table we found a spot at the bar. She could have worded it a little better maybe said«I apologize we are out of tables but there is room at the bar» that makes a potential customer feel more welcome than«I don’t know why the other staff sent you up here.» Anyway we get to the bar. Our drinks were great and our bartender was friendly and knowledgable. I recommend a better lighting system because the bar tender was using a flashlight to find beers in the cooler. After we finished our drinks we wanted to get back to the block party for the finale… Well… It took over a half hour to get our check. The bar tender was extremely overwhelmed, I feel bad because it’s not her fault. Management should have assisted her or put an additional bar tender on. I’m willing to give them another try as I know it was a busy night. I just feel management should prepare ahead and staff should be trained to adequately handle when it gets busy.

I come here fairly often; I’m a local. I’ve noted the negative reviews below and want to provide some counterpoint. First of all, the evening they opened their roof deck, they had a run of bad luck and the evening was kind of a debacle. That was a one-time misfortune and any problems have been corrected; in my experience, it’s a well-run establishment with courteous and professional staff. The food is always interesting and the choices are eclectic. Pricing is totally fair and reasonable. And the new roof terrace is great, with views of the hills up Catskills way. I like Frogmore a lot. It’s high on my list of Uptown Kingston options, so much so that I recommend it regularly to the many folks who stay with us via Airbnb. Not every Uptown restaurant gets that recommendation, believe me.

Moved to Kingston and I have been a few times, each time I think«okay this is going to be the time they wow me». My last experience was terrible and I don’t think I will return, maybe only for a drink on their new roof deck. Every time I have gone the service has been terrible, our cocktails always come out wrong after waiting for 10mins. The food is bland and I usually don’t even want to finish it. I think they need to focus on one type of food, right now they are doing Asian, Belgium, Mexican, English plus others.

I had a nice evening at Frogmore in January 2015. Good: –Everything we ate and drank was really nice. Vegetarian options available(not a million but enough) –Our server was incredibly sweet and helpful. –I loved not being rushed. –I wish I knew her name — but I want to say that the waitress was amazing. She was helping out a man who was sitting nearby and seemed to be a regular with some mobility challenges. I think she paid for his meal herself, called him a car, and made sure he safely got in it. Problems: –I was freezing cold in there. It was winter, yes, but still. The window didn’t seem totally sealed. –It wasn’t easy to get seated and things were a little disorganized-seeming. Maybe they’re understaffed? But I have no complaints about anyone working there!

Tried this place for the 2nd time — again — the FOOD was good and was the real star here — if I was judging SOLELY on the food, it would be 4 – 5 stars. The service… wasnt. Everything took forever. There was no manager. There was a sous chef trying to help on the floor, who was so kind and apologetic — even comp’d our app because the bread was so stale we couldnt even eat it. I felt bad for him — he was trying to do everything he could, but when you have no staff to help, there is only so much you actually CAN do. The burgers — awesome — my hubbie got the sirloin burger with pork belly — cooked perfectly; amazingly tasty. The sweet potato tots were NOT homemade and were the frozen kind, which was disappointing. I got the burger with benefits — my fried egg on top was perfect; the burger itself was a beautiful medium rare. The fries were so salty I couldn’t eat them — which I honestly didnt care about as long as the star of the plate(my burger) was on point — and it was. Not sure if I will give it a 3rd try — maybe if I have a few hours to spare with no where else to go… they have been around long enough where the«growing pains» should be done by now.

Crispy duck salad, Rubenettes, chicken and waffles and froggy pudding –all highly recommended. Pomagranet gin fizz was delicious. Wait staff was extremely attentive and very pleasant. Can’t wait to come back and taste some more! Limited menu but Gordon Ramsay would approve.

I have heard this place is owned by the same people as Duo Bistro, but I seriously can’t wrap my head around that. Duo is excellent — the food is high quality, the waitresses are knowledgable about what they’re serving. Frogmore is none of these things. I have tried it three times now and think the last trip will be my final one. The waitresses and bartenders regularly can’t explain the dishes or the specials. The cheese plate($ 20) was served with stale crostini and two lame cheeses that seemed like they could have come from the Hannafords around the corner(seriously bad considering we’re in the Hudson Valley and have tons of award-winning local cheeses available to us). Just seems like they should step up their game considering uptown Kingston has some really excellent food(Boitson’s, Elephant, Stockade Tavern, Duo). Don’t think they’ll get away with this for long. Also — PLEASE assign someone to greet people when they walk in the door, or at least pay attention so your guests aren’t standing at the door looking around awkwardly for 2 minutes.

I’ve payed the tavern a visit three times now so I think I can give an even handed review. First, location is perfect. Kingston is really coming into its own as a dining destination. Second, the food here is beyond reproach. Pub fare done really well. Plus daily specials that go beyond the usual. I love the fattoush salad. Burger is nicely done. Reuben with house made pastrami to die for. Third, and this is my only complaint. Waitstaff seems sometimes overwhelmed even when it’s not particularly busy. Here’s a real no-no. If you ask a patron if he wants another beer when his glass is still one quarter full, DONOT take said glass and refill then charge for another full pint. On another occasion I watched my credit card make the rounds across the restaurant for nearly 15 minutes before it was returned to me. Train your waitstaff better! Four stars for food. Two for service. Average makes three.

I came for the grits But she said they don’t have them anymore :(. So they should change the menu posted online. I was looking for a quasi vegetarian option. Ordered the dirty rice. Real disappointing. The rice was just blah and it had hard crusty bits like it has been sitting around. I was just disappointed as I live around the corner and was hoping to have another option for eating out as I don’t cook much at home. The waitress was very nice and I told her it was just OK and she seemed sorry about it. Attractive place. Busy on a Monday. Probably good for people who eat meat– don’t know as This is the only dish I tried.
