Great Italian food we were lucky to find in this charming town. We waited at the bar for our table and had a few cocktails. They served garlic bread which was intense yet hit the spot. The pizza was thicker crust(not my preference) but still tasty.

All the food here is excellent! I will say that the service is very very very slow. We have been here a few times. I am unsure if it’s the waitstaff or the kitchen. The waitstaff is very courteous just slow. I haven’t tried the entire menu but everything I’ve ever ordered has been excellent. We have bright the children here too and they love the food as well.

Savona’s saved us for our wedding rehearsal dinner! We had other plans that fell through and needed a place about 3 weeks before our wedding. Savona’s Next Door saved the day! They were SO easy to work with, so reasonably priced, and the space is absolutely perfect. And on top of it all, the food is so delicious, the portions are generous, and the staff was extremely friendly! Everyone at the dinner raved about the food, space, and service — we even got comments during the wedding about how wonderful the rehearsal dinner was. It truly was a special evening. If you are looking for a space for a private party of 40 – 50 people, I could not recommend Savona’s Next Door more. It has a private entrance and is so cozy and cute!

I have to Say Savona was a complete disappointment. I have been in the restaurant business my entire life. If there is one thing i learned. Never serve anything you would not eat yourself. I challenge the owner to eat what was served at my table tonight. If he thinks its was worthy of any stars Savona does not stand a chance. As for the glowing 4 and 5 star reviews i am sorry to say these customers were either drunk or had been stranded on a deserted island without food or water for a few days before sitting down to eat. The service was horrible and i really don’t blame the waitstaff. The ownership is to blame for not training the staff. Not one smile in the place. We waited over an hour between apps and dinner. Enough on the service. Now on to Food oh my god. if i had one of these with me i would have put it to my head and pulled the trigger. Apps mozz sticks, meatballs with ricotta and mozz caprese. Mozz sticks fresh made not bad marinara tasted like the sauce was way undercooked with little or no seasoning that sauce ruined the dish. Meatballs which i am told were a secret recipe. Please keep it a secret. Rubbery and tasteless topped with the miserable marinara. Mozzarella Caprese cheap commercial mozzarella definitely not house made Fresh mozzarella should have a wet consistency this was dry as a bone. On to the Entrees. My Daughter had spaghetti & meatballs. Soggy over cooked pasta which was not drained properly topped with the miserable meatballs and marinara made even worse because pasta was not drained. My mother in Law had chicken Frances. There was so much lemon in the sauce it was inedible my mother in law ate only a few bites. My wife had the eggplant parm. Luke warm covered in the miserable Marinara. In my wife’s words this is the most tasteless meal i have ever had. My meal was the veal milanese. This had potential veal was nicely prepared cooked crispy. Unfortunately they killed it with an overdressed arugula salad which turned the breading on the veal into mush. By the way i ordered the basil cucumber martini which was undrinkable. We are not complainers so we just chalk it up to a bad experience. We finished with nutella pizza and tiramisu. Nutella pizza meh and Tiramisu very good. Savona gets there desserts from a local bakery that explains why the tiramisu was so good. Unfortunately i do not think this was a bad night. I sense that this is a typical Saturday night at Savona if i could have given a zero i would have.

This place is amazing. My date and I do not live in the area. We were traveling go attend the HITS horse show in Saugerties and staying in Kingston. 3 years ago we had dinner here and it was delicious. Last night we returned. We were not disappointed. The Ceasar salad was top notch. The garlic bread sticks they give as a bread bowl were out of this world. My date ordered a buffalo chicken personal pie. We consider ourselves well versed in good buffalo chicken and this pie exceeded our expectations. I have never seen buffalo chicken pieces with celery chunks. Yum. I ordered chicken parmigiana. The chicken was breaded perfect and fried to a delightful golden brown and served over a bed of penne. Delicious. This was our second time visiting and we may go back for dinner tonight before we drive back to new Jersey!

Best luncheon ever. We booked Savon’s for a family function. Steven the catering manager was curteous and timely. There was clear communication on the menu choices and what to expect. Service was exceptional. No one was checking their Facebook Status and no question went unanswered. The food was devine. The antipasto plate generous. Everyone loved the chicken franchese and the pasta carbonara. Holy beat cannoli in a long time. Family style portions were perfect. We don’t live in Kingston but plan to return for dinner soon.

I was very excited to eat in this resturant because the night before when we walked by it smelled delicious. I told my wife we had to eat there the next night during our stay in Kingston NY. We were seated by a lovely hostess inside by our request because it was about 90 degrees outside. We sat at a nice quiet table in the corner in a built in bench seat. We could talk, hold hands, and sit rt next to each other without being on top of the tables around us. Someone brought water to the table. The table next to us was seated 5 mins later and asked what drinks they would like. We were not. We sat for about 15mins. without anyone coming to our table to take a drink order. I got up and told a waitress that we would like to order drinks and that no one has come to the table. 5 mins later the hostess took our drink order. The waitress came to our table 5−10mins after that to take our food orders. She did not apologize for the wait. I figured an apology moves things along. Everyone makes mistakes. Our food came and it was delicious! I had the famous meatballs and spaghetti and my wife had a wonderful salad with chicken, strawberries, apples, and Gorgonzola cheese. The food was fantastic! The waitress came around to see if we needed anything as we ate our meal. I asked the waitress for more water please. 15 mins. later we finished our meals and the water never came. If you work for tips and make a mistake you try to correct things by being on top of your game. This didn’t happen. We don’t go out often, but when we do, we enjoy good service and good food. We only got one. The food here is wonderful, but the service is lacking especially for a Monday night. They picked up our first round of drinks, but never apologized for the poor service. That would have gone a lot further at the beginning of the evening then at the end and would have improved our dining experience and tip.

I took my family to this establishment and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting much as good Italian Restaurants are becoming a rare commodity these days. Too many restaurants using frozen or nuked food. Not this one. The food was fantastic. I ordered the Eggplant Rollatini and started with their homemade mozzarella sticks. I was impressed. Eggplant is generally an indicator of what the rest is like. The Eggplant was soft and was easy to cut with my fork. The taste was flavorful and the marinara sauce was a perfect complement to the Eggplant and penne. The mozzarella sticks are indeed homemade and cooked to the right golden crispness. My kids were not use to real homemade mozzarella sticks and were not as pleased. My wife had the Granny Sicilian pizza and raved about it. The décor was modern and lively, yet a little dark. They have a large area outside and another area in the next door building. The weight staff had to run back and forth between the other building and the outside which kept the busy, probably too busy which makes the service somewhat slow. That was probably my only con. I will certainly visit this establishment again. Unfortunately, the Hudson Valley has a million pizza restaurants and most are low quality food. This Italian restaurant is one of my top 2, along with Lombardi’s in Gardener.

Let me start by saying that I am not from the area and I was visiting. The food was amazing… The spinach personal 7 inch pizza was out of this world, bread was unique and yummy, drinks were super strong which was a positive for my husband! I ordered wine. If you drink wine– watch the brands. I saw frontera on the bar… Too cheap for me($ 5.99 a bottle) so I got a bottle of 14 hands for $ 25… But delicious. Now to the worst part– super duper bad management. Our waitress was really kind and worked her tail off– but she had to manage three areas– outside, inside, and the bar area! They get three stars because it took 2.5 hours for our appetizer… We went somewhere else for dinner. There is a lot of competition within 10 ft of this place’sdoor! Check them out or pitch a tent and order dinner lol

Came in here at 6pm today. Ordered an easy appetizer, salad and pasta. It is 8:02 and I am still waiting on my pasta. Every 15 minutes they keep telling me «5 more minutes». Oh and now it’s 8:03 and I’m still not seeing my main dish. Definitely not coming back. Oh and the food? Eh.

Nice ambience and extensive menu selections from pizza and salads to full entrees. Dining here with a friend the waitress allowed us time to catch up and take our time ordering — and didn’t rush to turn the table when we completed dining. Kudos! Chose a fish special that was absolutely delicious. Entrees come with choice of soup of the day or salad. Both my friend and I walked out with doggie bags as the portions are incredibly generous. Fresh and delicious food, nice ambience, great location, attuned servers — what more could you ask? 4 ½ stars.

I’ve lived in Kingston longer than this restaurant has been here. I’ve heard good things and have wanted to try it but when thinking of places to eat it never comes to mind. Tonight’s my husband’s birthday and his request was to try something we had never tried before. I chose here. I am so glad I did! Everything from the greeting to the exit was amazing! The service was on point. Our server was friendly and engaging! The food was awesome! I couldn’t even resist the dessert menu and ordered that to go. This is definitely my new favorite place!

Nothing but wonderful memories at Savona’s. The ambiance is European-bistro, cozy, romantic(depending on your company), and food/wine-centric. Great service and well priced considering the superb quality of the food. The last meal I enjoyed at Savona’s was a risotto special, made with scallops and bacon; the flavors of this dish were mind-blowing.

I’ve been going to Savona’s for years. If I’d reviewed them 6 years ago I’d say 5 stars. They have expanded a lot since I first stated going and when I first started going they said the reason they couldn’t expand is the size of the kitchen. The last i had the meatloaf, they use to have veggie meatloaf but not anymore. They use to bake their meatloaf but not any more. From what was served to me, I’d say the layered the cooked ingredients in a skillet and stuck the skillet under a broiler. Frozen Stouffers would be a step up. The bread sticks which I use to love tasted very fishy. It’s only a guess but what ever garlic butter they were using to bast the bread also seemed(to me) to of been used on fish. My dates food was ok, and it’s in scenic waterfront Kingston area or else they’d be getting 1star.

Just a bad experience all the way around. Appetizers were terrible, entrees were warm at best mostly cold after 2 minutes and the wait for the food was LONG. If your salt restricted stay away. Don’t understand why this place gets raves maybe the locals feel obligated to

I don’t know if they were just having a bad day, but I can’t believe that the place where I ate last night is the same place that all these other folks are reviewing positively. I can honestly say that this was a BAD meal. Maybe(gasp!) the worst meal I’ve had since I started Unilocaling. I don’t really write scathing reviews, but wow, I have to do it. I kept waiting for something redeeming to happen but it just kept getting worse. Let’s got step by step. Bread sticks: Came in a bowl that was smeared all over the outside with herb oil. I mean ALLOVER the bowl. I picked it up to hand it across the table and my hand was literally covered. Disgusting. That just seems like such a basic thing. Don’t carelessly slosh oil all over everything, it’s nasty. Or if you have to, wipe it off before putting it in front of a paying customer. I mean really. It’s a small thing but it infuriated me. Then I took a bite. The flavor was nice, but there was so much oil in the bowl(like an inch sitting in the bottom) that the oil had soaked into some of the pieces so that they were completely saturated. Like an oil sponge. Some sticks were ok, but others I almost spit up in my napkin. Sangria: Boring. Tasted like mostly juice. But definitely the least offensive thing of the night. Caesar salad: Really really bad! The dressing was oily and flavorless. I was trying to figure out what it was because it definitely wasn’t Caesar dressing. Mayo with some seasoning? Ranch with salt and pepper? Did they start making it and then forgot to finish after the oil and salt part? And the salad had been over dressed and left for too long so the lettuce was all soft and wilted. Not good. Really really… Not good. Cauliflower soup: Way way way too salty. And I love salt! I put salt on my pizza. I put salt on my mango and watermelon. I’m not afraid of salt. But it was just too much. And it made me thirsty, which was unfortunate because the sangria I had to wash it down was so blah. Chicken penne a la fresca: I was really hoping for good things with this one. My boyfriend had it last week«to go» and said it was good. But no. Another failure. The pasta was overcooked and mushy, and the chicken had the weirdest texture. It was covered in sauce so I couldn’t get a good look at the color and how cooked it was. But it was really rubbery and chewy. Bizarre. I was really disappointed. Nothing was completely inedible and we were starving, so we grumbled thru and ate everything. I wasn’t looking for a free meal, so while we mentioned to our waitress that the chicken was really weird, we didn’t complain too loudly. I have to imagine there was something going on in the kitchen that day, because if all the food was like the meal we had, there’s no way they’d still be in business. 2 stars instead of 1 only because our waitress was a sweetheart, but bad day or no, I am never going back there.

I was in Kingston NY last weekend and decided to try their new prix fixe menu, which I’d just got their email notice about. Now, we visit Kingston +4 times a year and usually order ala carte off their excellent menu, but the 3-course prix fixe menu was also excellent. My wife had the stuffed mushrooms, penne pasta with chicken vodka sauce, and apple crisp crumble. I had the very excellent wedge salad Italian style, homemade short rib ravioli, and Crete brûlée. Excellent food, preparation and presentation, and service! We had their last bottle of Pinot Grigio, another excellent choice! Savona’s is our favorite Italian trattoria this side of Sorrento Italy(we were just there 3 weeks ago)!
