Decent steak. Kingston is fortunate to have a little slice of Manhattan up there. Cocktails are workable too.

I just ate here for the first time, and it was AMAZING! I ordered the pumpkin ravioli, my dad ordered a New York strip steak, and my mom and our dinner guest both ordered lamb. The ravioli was delicious and flavorful, and my dad said that the steak was the«best [he’s] ever had.» Now, keep in mind that my dad is *very* fussy when it comes to steaks, so this is an extremely high compliment. Then we had cheesecake and banana cream pie for dessert, which were both fantastic. I should also add that the atmosphere was classy, yet not overly fussy or formal, and the service was excellent. I will definitely eat here again.

But that brunch though… From the waitress to the meal… Excellent. I had duck confit potato hash with a side of hollandaise… Mmmmmmmmm. My husband had the scrambled egg cheese steak with a side of salad. I would definitely come back again. Too bad it’s so far.

I’m writing this message in displeasure of my experience at Ship to Shore this past weekend. I have been a loyal local patron of the restaurant for over 17 years, and in fact, even had my rehearsal dinner there in 2011. As you can imagine, I take pleasure on a regular basis in promoting the restaurant. This past weekend, I was very unhappy and surprised with the experience I had. Upon arrival, my table, which I had an 8pm reservation for, was not ready, and we were offered to wait at the bar until it became available, which we did. When we sat at the bar, it was wet, from just being wiped, so I proceeded to dry it off myself with some paper napkins. The bartender noticed what I was doing, and promptly took the napkins from me and apologized; he appeared quite busy. I was interested in ordering a bottle of wine, and therefore requested to taste several different kinds of wine, none of which i was fond of. I asked if the bartender could make a suggestion for a dry white wine, to which he responded to being unfamiliar with many of the wines on the menu, but stated that he did not think any of them were too dry. I ended up ordering a nixed drink. When our table was ready, we asked to have our bar check transferred to our table check, to which we were told we had to close out at the bar. This was an odd request, as we had never done this in the past, at any restaurant we have been to. We closed it, and were then asked to bring our drinks with us to the table, again an odd request, since all previous experiences have involved our server bringing them to the table for us. After sitting, we were given menus and greeted by our server, who seemed polite and attentive at first. However, we ordered our appetizer, salad and entrees, but were never given bread, until we asked for it at the end of our appetizer course. We received our BLT Caesar, which as you are aware is served with a thick piece of bacon atop. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it, as one was not provided initially. After the salad was cleared the table was crumby, but was never crumed, until asked. When we finally received our entrees, we overheard the table next to us being offered wine specials, one of which was described to be a dry white! As you can imagine, I was upset, as I was told there wasnt a really dry white available, and we were never even offered the speacials! I asked the server why we weren’t told about these specials, and he apologized and asked if we wanted it now… obviously we weren’t going to order the bottle at that point. I ordered a scallop entrée which the kitchen made special for me, as I only wanted scallops. When they came out, they were very salty, in a plain brown gravy; while I appreciated the special request being honored, I expected a little higher quality than I recived. All in all, I was very dissappointed with the experience, and didn’t want to complain in front of my friend, as I didnt want to embarrass them. My friend and I spent over $ 150 at the restaurant this night, and I can not attest that it was worth it. I would greatly appreciate you looking into this, and rectifying this situation, as I would like to remain a loyal customer, and pass that along to others. I also want to add that I attempted to contact the restaurant via email and facebook immediately following the incident, however 3 days later I still had not received a response. I worked in the restaurant business for several years, and I am aware of what good customer service is, this was by far sub-par.

Came here for anniversary dinner in January and loved this place. I can’t wait to go back! The food was DELICIOUS, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned from appetizer to dessert! MMM! Staff were very friendly and inviting, the ambiance of the place was very fitting for our dinner and food came in a reasonable amount of time. I only wish they would make a nice drink/cocktail menu that you can choose from, which they were lacking when we went. Yes, they are pricey, but I feel the money was well worth it.

I’m giving Ship to Shore ONE(I tried to give zero) star for one, specific reason: they have blatantly racist iconography on their bathroom doors. I literally don’t know what they think they’re doing. I’d consider posting a review of the restaurant and my experience there PRIOR to using the bathrooms and making this discovery if they’d agree to immediately remove the pieces. I am pretty disturbed that no one has complained about this yet. Way to go, Kingston.

Overpriced and overcooked. I didn’t like my experience here. The location seems to be the best feature of this place. The waiter seemed nervous like our party of seven was going to dine and dash. We racked up a $ 400 tab without blinking. My salmon entrée was as solid as a rock. Reminded me of the grade B– food at a Sandals resort. Two stars because the wine was nice.

Visited this place twice. One pleasant and one unpleasant experience. Tuna stack is an amazing dish. I would eat that any time. Their tea selection were great but the waiter were not very attentive to refilling the hot water. I visited during February and it was still very cold. I had already finished that small cup of tea before appetizer arrived. Drinking cold water with my meal in freezing cold was not the best combination.

This place is a real gem! Such lovely ambiance, kind staff, and great food. We went for lunch, prices around $ 12/plate. Quality ingredients and good sized portions left us feeling like the lunch was a good value. I will return when I am in Kingston again!

It was a beautiful spring day and my hubby and I and my 3 year old grandson and dog took a trip to Kingston. Now because we had the dog our choices for having a bite to eat were very limited. Had to be a place that had outdoor seating. Saw this little place across the street from the«Roundout» that had a few tables and chairs outside. Our lunch was delicious. Hubby had hamburger which was huge and was one of the best he ever ate. I had a special which was some sort of noodle dish that was very tasty and grandson had french fries that were also delicious and numerous. Our waiter, Mike, was very attentive and very nice. Overall will definitely return and would recommend it for lunch at least.

We went here before going to see Robert Irvine and found out he actually stopped here before the show! The bartenders were amazing and made my martinis to perfection. We ordered the mozzarella tower and the lobster risotto special… we ate it all! Definitely will be returning

This place used to be amazing a few years ago… I went there tonight and was extremely disappointed!!! We ordered an appetizer and a salad to start… We finished the appetizer and waited a long time before I finally had to ask the waiter where the salad was… he said he was about to make it and that the kitchen was very backed up. Lame excuse because the sald came out as only a pile of lettuce and a thin slice of tomato for 7.99. We then waited a while before our meal came out… My date ordered the veal and it looked like a pile of mush. He picked through it and it was all fat. I immediately called the waiter over and told him it was unacceptable and to take it back. That’s how terrible it looked. He then brought out another dish, the penne pasta with shrimp and scallops. There were maybe 2 or 3 of each and they were very tiny… for 23 dollars??? C’mon. I had the lobster tail and a filet. The lobster tail was so over cooked and dry and the steak was super tough. When the waiter came over and we expressed our dissatisfaction, he offered us dessert on him. When I said I wasn’t interested in dessert but how about another prim of drinks he completely ignored my request and walked away. I was so disgusted with the food and the prices. I normally do not mind high prices if the food is good but everything sucked. I used to love this place but I will NEVER go there again. When we were walking out we peeked our head in the kitchen and saw a bunch of inexperienced Mexican cooks and no chef in sight. I want to give this place zero stars but it won’t let me post my review without giving one

This place has gone way down hill. Firstly it’s very over priced, and I don’t mind if the food is beyond phenomenal but I could cook better than this place. The main dishes don’t come with sides you have to pay extra for that too. The past two times we have been exceptionally disappointed. We even messaged the owner on facebook but he read the comments and never replied. So many other places to go. Won’t ever be giving this place another cent of my money or minute of my time.

we went for this year thanksgiving all you can eat dinner, we were seated in the back, hardly an inch to move, friendly sporadic service, we could barely order what we wanted, all sides came together with the soups and salad, the food was a 4 out of 10 at best. The food was rushed all the time without a minute to spare. A planned nice dinner turned into a rush cafeteria food. Shame at $ 50.00 a person plus wine and 10.00 for a few cold rolls.

Yum!!! My family was upstate visiting the Catskills(Fleischmanns) from NYC and decided to check out Kingston for some shopping and lunch. Went to Next Boutique and the shopkeep suggested Ship to Shore. We were pleased from the moment we entered the restaurant and appreciated the locally sourced menu and the fact that the restaurant was affiliated with the Culinary Institute of America(CIA) Ambiance: Cute and cozy. Loved the bar and the tables and décor were tasteful and comfortable. Service: Our server Adam(I think) was very enthusiastic and informed. He was attentive and lovely and able to answer any questions we had. You could tell he really wanted us to enjoy our meal, constantly offering suggestions. Food: Very good. As a party of 5 adults and 1 child, we ordered a large array of items– soups, apps, salads, cheeseburger, soba noodles, fish. It was all flavorful, well seasoned, large servings and tasty. Wine and Beer: We enjoyed the wine menu– beer selection was ok – could be better IMO. Overall, we were impressed to find this little gem. We’ll be up in Woodstock during Memorial Day Weekend with friends and will definitely come and visit again.

Excellent service, and good food! We sat outdoors and enjoyed everything about the day. The server was fabulous… we took some time to order since the girls and I hadn’t seen each other in a few months, and she let us take our time to catch up before ordering. I give it 4 stars because one of the girls in our party asked for her burger as rare as it could be, and it was medium. But nothing that wouldn’t keep us from coming back again:)

Discovered Ship To Shore on my last trip to Kingston. The excitement and energy of the outside diners and the chef’s specials on the chalkboard lured me in from my favorite places around the corner. I’m giving 4 stars because they didn’t have the call bourbon for their special Manhattan, but they did mix up an excellent one(and two!) with fresh oranges and cherries. The special porterhouse pork chop and garbanzo soup(with a scallion sour cream topping) were excellent. In fact, this was the best pork chop I’ve ever had! The service was outstanding, with first hand knowledge and experience of the menu, bar and food, never rushed but just right timing for everything. The only other thing I could have wished for and had was a table outside!
