We had visited this restaurant a few years ago and wasn’t impressed but based on it’s «reputation» thought we’d give it another try. Again, not impressed… the atmosphere is cozy and nice, no complaints with that aspect of the place, but the rest leaves much to be desired. The food is ok but the menu selection is «eclectic» at best, very pricey for what you get and limited choices with«not so desirable» sides with each main dish. We found it difficult to make a choice. We waited over an hour before we got seated, and had to stand the whole time with our $ 10 glass of «house» wine and $ 8 draft beer. When we finally did get seated, the service was so-so. It took the waitress Michelle quite a while to even acknowledge us, she wasn’t the most attentive server we’ve ever had! Not terrible, but nothing special. The food took about ½ hour to arrive at our table. It was good but again, nothing special for the price. I had swordfish and my husband had scallops. We probably won’t be back, there are just too many better restaurants on the South Shore to frequent with a better menu, better prices, and better service!

Just not up to any rave reviews in my opinion. Waiter brought us wrong drinks, then scallops were so sandy they were inedible. I won’t go back to a place that is so expensive and NOT worth it. Also I like to see a pleasant staff eager to please, not annoyed and a bit grumpy!

New Years Eve dinner. First time. Nice atmosphere. Waitstaff very blah with zero personality from hostess to busboy. We ordered the prime rib plate for two. $ 60. We ordered mashed potatoes. and what we didn’t know was that the prime rib for two was just a plate of prime rib. No veggies, no salad, no sides at all. The mashed potatoes were a separate charge. $ 7 per side. No veggies. guess we had to order them separately. the food was tasty but the meat had way too much fatty pieces and the mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. The problem is, a slab of meat on a plate for $ 60 no sides seems extremely high and does not make a meal. if I wanted a Cafeteria style meal, I would go to a cafeteria. incredibly disappointed since many people rave about the place. they must be friends and family.

My family and I have been to Solstice numerous times, so when I decided to have a get together with a few friends and needed a casually classy restaurant that was centrally located to where we all lived, Solstice was the perfect place and they did not disappoint. It was a party of six on 12−6−15 and we were all ex-coworkers of Bradlees department store in Hyannis who in some cases we haven’t seen in more than 10 years. All of the meals, whether it was the lamb, or the chicken under a brick or my filet mignon were perfectly cooked with the most attentive service. It isn’t stuffy or pretentious in attitude and everybody both in the dining room and in the kitchen were on their«A «game for our get together and we couldn’t have appreciated it more. Since most of the party had never been there, not only did Solstice make new fans of the restaurant, but my friends swore they would come back again. Thank you for an unbelievably amazing meal.

We’ve lived less than 2 miles from Solstice for 6 years and made it in for the first time last night. We liked the ambiance and our waitress was okay but the rest of the experience was weak. The food is the center of the meal and we give it a 0 – 1 star. We ordered island creek oysters to start. I’ve had them at 20+ restaurants and they are always awesome, but at solstice they did a horrible job shucking the oysters. There was no brine. They were all dried out. Plus, they didn’t serve them on ice but instead on a huge bed of salt. Huh??? For the main course we ordered tuna, a pizza, and fries. The rice with the tuna was decent but the tuna itself was awful. It was bland, cold, and the color on it was unlike any tuna we had seen before. The pizza was burnt. No, brick oven-esq pizza isn’t supposed to taste like ashes. The fries were the best part of the meal, but even those were a little soggy. Plus they seemed to give us a bunch of tiny 1−2cm pieces of fries. The bill, with two glasses of wine, was $ 98. We won’t be going back. 2 stars for the okay waitstaff and nice ambiance.

Apparently I forgot to rate this place. My profound apologies as it’s one of the Gems of the south shore. We often send folks visiting our office here and despite the 30 minute drive, we always get stellar feedback. My most recent visit was to celebrate my youngest son’s birthday. We’ve been before and it was at the top of his list for this important meal. The décor is fantastic with warm tones and great care went into renovating this old train station. For those of you who want to partake of libation, there is a horseshoe shaped bar at the entrance which make a great place to meet prior to a meal. I was thinking duck but ended up going for the Ahi. Chef uses seasonal ingredients to augment the dishes and unfortunately I have an aversion to cooked apples. The tuna was well prepared and served on a bed of shrimp fried rice. It was accompanied by two vegetable spring rolls that were crunchy and scrumptious. My son started with the wedge and had the double chop for entrée. The were very positively commented on and the fact that he all but chomped on the bone is indicative of their quality. He finished with a cheese cake that was outstandingly rich and flavorful. If you haven’t been here, I highly suggest you make a visit and be prepared to be astonished.

Not impressed with this place. It feels warm and welcome, but city quality, it is not(its an old train station)… Waiting 20 minutes for a table(with a reservation) wasn’t so bad, but after spending $ 150 on dinner, and still being hungry after(portions have shrunk there), the wait became a problem in retrospect. One special was supposed to come with asparagus. The steak was supposed to come on a bed of greens… The 20 min wait allowed us to have a couple drinks before our table was ready, and that’s probably why I didn’t notice the vegetables being missing until I got to my car after to leave. The service was not impressive, The waiter was good as far as the specials, taking the order, etc. but he was not so friendly. The bus boy TWICE tried to clear our oysters with one left. And then they tried clearing the steak before we were done. The busboys were kids, vs in Boston at the true high end places, the bus people are aspiring servers. These are the things that justify whether a place can or CANT charge city prices. We wont go back, and if you are looking to get a fine meal without leaving the south shore and still being hungry after you spend $ 150 — look to Scarlet Oak in Hingham, San Pietro in Norwell.

Cutting straight to chase as I’m fairly sure this restaurant could care less about service. Went to Solstice around 9pm, seated no problem, server was rude. In any case, food mediocre at best… bolognese certainly overcooked. Chicken on a brick… I’d rather have the brick… but gawd forbid you ask for black pepper on your brick. Suggest commuting to another town that can offer a fine dining experience, this is only local option, and is amateur at best. Move on…

I’ve been here twice and both times were fantastic. I love the ambiance, it’s nicely lit and not too loud. All of us got filets and they were incredible. Three of us got medium rare and one got medium well, they were all cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth! They come with a choice of herbed butter or Demi glacé. Both are fantastic the mushroom Demi glacé was my favorite. Our waiter was great, very attentive even though it was a busy Saturday night. If you love a good steak you need to get here ASAP. A hidden gem in Kingston if you will. This place is incredible I can’t wait to go back!

Just spent $ 120 for dinner, which was probably good, but they were having a problem with their heat. They sat us and 2 other couples in the back room, which was freezing. When I left I noticed the two front rooms, which were empty when I arrived, were warm! I asked the hostess why they didn’t offer to move us and she said, «we’re closing the back room and not sitting anyone else back there.» There was no apology, no offer to move us, and no offer to even comp us a drink. I couldn’t feel my feet! On the way out the hostess said, «good night it’s cold out.» Completely rude! I will never go back and their manager will hear from me.

Second time here and it did not disappoint. Great waiter who’s been there for 11 years. He recommended a great red wine for dinner… an Argentine Malbec that was wonderful. Appetizers and dinner for our party of 4 consisted of pear salad, lobster tempura(special), oysters, pork chop to die for, ahi tuna, scallops and calamari. Everything we had was cooked perfectly and delicious.

I have been told that this is one of the best places on the South Shore. Eating out is such s personal experience. The ambience is nice, great crowd and not too loud. First experience was horrible. Ordered my meal medium rare and it came to the table well done. My new meal came as my table mates were finishing their dinner. No apologies and no comp. Second experience was better, but no prize. The appetizers were delicious and arrived promptly after the first round of drinks. The main course arrived over 1 hour later! Our server must have loved playing hide and seek as a child! Three strikes and you’re out … I’ll try again soon.

I went here on Sunday with my parents for my birthday! I had a Gemini cocktail, very good(grapefruit vodka prossecco). We ordered the calamari and spring rolls for an appetizer, the sauce for calamari was the best, seemed like a soy sauce mixed with sweet chili. I ordered the duck, best duck i have had(even out of ALL the restaurants in Boston) I was pleasantly surprised. For dessert i got the cinnamon doughnuts. It came with caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream. Would def recommend it. The only some what«negative» thing our table had to say was that the chocolate cake was very chocolaty, it could have been a smaller portion with more caramel ice cream to offset the chocolate. I am sure if we asked for additional ice cream we could have gotten it! Scott was a great waiter! Well done solstice.

I would recommend Solstice for occasions when you want more than a casual dining experience but don’t want to pull out all the stops. The atmosphere is classy without being fancy or pretentious. There’s a small bar when you first walk in if you don’t want table service. It was quite busy on the Friday we went, so take its popularity into account when you’re making plans. Entrees are in the $ 20-$ 30 range; not an inexpensive night but we felt the overall experience was worth it. The menu focus is on upscale american, nothing earth-shattering but that’s not really the intent. We enjoyed the app, entrees, and dessert we got; everything was nicely executed. The special was striped bass, pan seared with a thai inspired sauce, on jasmine rice and bok choi slaw. A nice complete dish. I also recommend the homemade donuts served with butterscotch pudding and caramel for dessert. Service was good, no complaints. Our waiter gave us some feedback on what he has tried, and seemed knowledgeable.

Stopped in for drinks and apps this evening and perhaps it’s just what we ordered but we will probably not come back. Pluses: Our server was attentive and our Sapphire gimlets were made well with fresh lime juice and simple syrup but unfortunately that’s where the compliments end. Ok’s: Vegetable spring roll — nice and freshly made with a tasty sesame based dipping sauce. Nothing memorable but was sufficient. Duck wings — crunchy exterior and tender in the inside but reminiscent of chicken wings? I didn’t try any but last I remember, duck shouldn’t taste like chicken so I’ll let you be the judge of that one. Fish tacos — ok at best. It was definitely missing some sort of aioli to bring it altogether. It was dry and bland as is. Ughs: Campeche — please heed my warning and do NOT order this! Unanimous vote that it reminded us of Chef Boyardee mixed with chilled assorted seafood. It was worse than bland. Even salt did very little to liven up this dish. Very unimaginative. All in all, we were a little disappointed and again hoping it was just the combination of items that we ordered and not representative of what this place is as a whole.

Solstice is a restaurant for the unimaginative. Knock off recipes, stale staff and brick. Drinks and flatbread will keep you sated. Delving any deeper is regrettable.
