Jessie did a really awesome job. Given the broken torsion spring, he explained what he was doing throughout the process. He also addressed the trolley wall bracket that needed to be remounted. He also gave helpful tips on where best to apply lubricant to keep the door humming along. Thanks, Jessie!

Two days before Christmas and the spring on my old wooden garage door broke. Jessie, the owner of Better Built Door, an expert on garage doors, called back within the day. The other two companies took much longer. In short, I got a reasonable quote and a new garage door by Tuesday morning. Pretty great considering it was around Christmas.
My new garage door is gorgeous and I love that it seals completely on the bottom. Now I can feel safe that rodents will not come in.
Builder Built Door also helped with my parents house two months later when a wire to their garage door came off. I called Jessie and he was able to go out that day to repair it. Cost was very inexpensive.
I would highly recommend this company because Jessie is a hard worker who is straight-​forward. His prices are reasonable and he really is knowledgeable about garage doors. 25 plus years of experience really shows.

Arriving home from vacation at 1AM to find our garage door unwilling to open under any circumstances… We noticed the spring had broken, and tried various things to open the door manually with no luck. I called Jessie at Better Built Door, and he said he could get us in the next day. 10 mins after hanging up the phone, he called back saying he could get me in today within a half hour. YAY!!! A new and better spring was put in. Our car is now freed from it’s prison! Jessie and Richardo are professional, friendly… Highly recommended!

These guys replaced an old spring that broke on one of my doors. They came out when they said they would, charged what they said they would. Did quality work.
I had them install new garage door openers on my garage doors 6 years ago. They have worked flawlessly ever since. No issues. I have recommended them to friends. No issues.

Bad quality, horrible service, avoid this establishment at all costs. I originally used better built door because of the good reviews on this website. They did not give me any choice on the garage door openers that they installed. The garage door opener they installed was subpar. But the truly disturbing thing was the service. When the garage door stopped working for no reason I called to have it repaired. The owner gave me a 4 hour window on a weekday in which I had to have somebody home. The owner never mentioned that he would not come to my home if I did not answer his phone call on the same day. After i missed his call, i called back multiple times to confirm but there was no answer. The owner stood me up wasting an entire day. When I called to try to make things right, the owner argued with me for 10 minutes telling me I was at fault. No matter how nice I tried to be he would not let up that it was my fault. Most people do not have time in their lives to argue with the people they’re trying to pay for service. Do not believe the good reviews on this site, this establishment is awful.

Awesome service! Garage door quit working in the evening. Called Better Built the next morning and they were here at noon. I knew it was a spring issue (spring was split in half on top of door) so he quoted the price before he came. Here and gone within 30 minutes and even changed out the remote access for me and lubed the hinges so they no longer squeaked. Funny how you get use to the noise and think that is normal. Price was as quoted. Easiest project I have had done in a long time. No hassle, prompt response, on time, efficient and professional. Would highly recommend especially to those not mechanically inclined and relying on integrity of service provider.

The experience was terrible.
Our HOA hired this firm to replace garage doors for the whole association. There are 2 options for garage doors — with and without power opener. Generally any garage door needs to have a sliding lock, no matter whether a power opener is used — using the power opener is optional, as it can be removed, disconnected, uninstalled, etc. Nevertheless, they are NOT installing sliding locks on doors that have power openers — this is already wrong, but may be OK if the openers are truly in use.
Now, I had openers which were disconnected, and I did not want to use them, which I made clear at the installation time. They just shut me down and said they will connect the openers against my will, and will not install the sliding lock as I insisted. So they did, against my will. Now I have a dispute with HOA where I am asking HOA to hire someone else (definitely not this firm) to install the sliding locks and to disconnect the power openers.
Over the course of their work they also continuously insulted me, even though I repeatedly asked them to stop. So, their behavior and actions were unprofessional to extreme. I see other reviews on Unilocal saying the owner Jesse was rude and arrogant — I would say it is an understatement. It is possible that they would act and work differently if I was the one who hired them, and not HOA, but they certainly showed their true face.
I would strongly advise against hiring these people.

Spring snapped at 3:15 pm, new one installed by 6:00 same day.

These guys are great. I have contacted them 3 times over the past year and a half.
On the first call, he gave me enough information to fix the issue myself. On the second call, we set up an appointment. He gave me the price of a new door opener but also told me that he would likely be able to replace specific parts for less, depending on what was wrong. The final cost was about half the cost of a new opener. On the third call, the fix was minor but he was able to squeeze me into his very busy schedule within 24 hours as my door would not open — and he didn’t even charge me.
He called before arriving which I really appreciate as a heads up. I like his honest and no-​nonsense approach and have recommended him to several friends.

We were thrilled with the level of service provided by Better Built Door. He quickly identified and fixed the problem and did some garage door maintenance for free. His rates are very reasonable. A few weeks later we had another, problem unrelated to the first (our garage door in pretty old). He came again fixed the problem and didn’t even charge us a service fee. We would definitely call him again!

They did a great job. They were fast and friendly. I would use them again in a heart beat. I also felt like the price was very reasonable.

Our HOA hired this company to replace many doors in the neighborhood and I also went ahead and had him replace my opener. However, when he replaced the door he said he wanted to check with the HOA’s maintenance guy about what to do regarding a gap in the bottom of the new door due to uneven pavement. He said he wanted to chip out the pavement so it would seal properly but he could also install a bigger seal. He left with a promise to make sure the door was sealed correctly. However, weeks went by and when I finally reached him his story completely changed. He refused to honor his word and made a new set of excuses. He was in denial too that he could just install the thicker seal. So now I’m left with a door with a big gap in the bottom for cold air and rodents. Really dishonorable company with no pride in doing the job well.

Jessie, the owner, acts well informed but is really rude and arrogant if there is a problem. He recently installed a new garage door and opener for me. There were issues with the garage door opener. He came a few times and acted like I was the problem. I contacted the garage door opener manufacturer and they suggested 3 fixes to the problem that Jessie didn’t even try. Sadly, there is a warranty that Jessie is not honoring. This company does not honor their warranties. They have the best prices but if customer services is important go with someone more professional.

I was calling around to get estimates for my garage door. I wasn’t sure if my door simply needed a repair or if I needed a new door completely. Since I’m not an expert on garage doors, I wanted to get a few opinions and quotes– as opposed to going with whatever the first guy tells me. I made a call to Better Built Door, explained my situation, and asked if someone could come out and give me an estimate. The person I talked to said he doesn’t give estimates on repairs, just new doors. And he would rather not come out to look at the house unless I’m using their services. How would I know who to use unless I do my research? I suppose I’m better off not wanting someone who doesn’t want to work with me. I ended up buying a new door from a wonderful company that has great customer service. Ironically, it was the first guy that came out to give me a quote.

Just had Better Built Door come out and replace a broken spring on my garage door.
When I called they asked a few simple questions about the problem, door type and size (single vs double car door). They were able to give me a quote for the repair .
They came as scheduled during the two hour time window, were professional and got my spring replaced in short order at the quoted price.
Could not ask for better service!!! If I have any garage door repair needs in the future I know who to call.

Pros: Price was the best I found. One door worked fine. He was energetic.
Cons: Failed to show without warning. He arrived late after I’d left. No apology.
One door failed the next day. He could only come out after his schedule opened up. His fix only lasted one day and again, he was unable to come out. He didn’t seem to know why it was failing. I ended up fixing it myself after reading the manual. He dumped trash into a bag of cloths I left in the garage.
In the long run, the installation worked out but it wasn’t the best experience I’ve had with a contractor.

I read all these 5 star reviews and hired Jesse to install a garage door opener. He quoted a price which was very competitive. Perfect combo, what could go wrong? Well, I wanted to meet him and discuss my garage before he installed everything. Although hesitant, he still showed up, he gave me some great tips. On the day of, he called to let me know he was coming, which was very courteous. He installed my garage door opener, but here’s where it didn’t go so well — as soon as he completed installation, I gave him a check he bolted! He didn’t wait for me to inspect his work, didn’t explain anything, just gave me my manuals and took off! That evening, I realized that he had wired the opener into the wrong circuit. And that thing wouldn’t turn on. I did the troubleshooting, and told him what the problem was, he said he cant do any electrical work (I didn’t ask him to). He had also forgotten to install my keypad! He had to come back after a couple of days and install the keypad. He took no care to align it with the existing keypad on the other day, just drilled it straight into my frame. The whole thing appeared to be ‘fast-and’fly’ before they catch us kind of an operation! He also charged me an additional $ 25 from the quoting price for the strut, which in my opinion, should’ve been part of the quoting price because he made himself look cheaper than the other guys only to find out, in the end he wasn’t. Overall, can this guy install a garage door opener? Yes. Do you really really have to watch him? Absolutely.

Just called for a problem I thought I was having with my door. The door is solid wood and when disconnected from the trolley it would creep down. I thought I would need a service call and possibly replacement of tension springs.
Jesse explained after patiently listening, that it was more than likely a condition of the winter weather being more damp then the springs being worn out.
I thought this was a completely honest way to do business and greatly appreciated.
If there is a problem in the future I will not hesitate to call what I found to be a very honest and helpful company.

Jesse is the best. Yes, his prices for work are very competitive, which may be one reason to talk to him first. But there are even better reasons: he comes in with his crew, does the work without needing to be watched, and all with a great sense of humor and good spirit. And they cleaned up very well on finishing.
As I said to Jesse, «I enjoyed having you here so much, I am almost sad that I may not see you again for years.»

Our home is compete!
After beating around the bush with getting the garage door fixed, we finally ran out of excuses to repair the darn thing. After purchasing a new car we promised ourselves that getting the garage door repaired must be a top priority. That means no more buying mega million tickets, instead… collecting referrals, quotes and setting up an appointment.
Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers, Better Built Doors caught my attention. After reading reviews, receiving our quote & setting up the appointment, we were very hesitant on how our service and the quality of the workmanship was going to turn out.
Jessie, the owner and handy man, was a 1 man army kind of guy. He came to install a new set of doors for our two-​car garage. And by 1 man army, I mean, him uninstalling our previous doors (possibly built in the late 80’s), replacing the railings, and installing the new doors along with the new garage door opener in less than three and a half hours, all by him self! Excellent service and the highest quality of skillfulness when it came to the finishing product.
By the way, our quote was lower than the big chain stores we received from and the service, immaculate.
