I.heart.this.shop! I had visited the shop for numerous time before, but today’s visit reconfirmed the reason of those visits and many more in the future. I had the pleasure to meet and get assisted by Kathryn who is the shop owner. The shop carries several different brands of French soap and they happen to carry my favourite brand, Mistral. Cue — excited me. However they don’t carry the specific line that is my ultimate favourite :(, but Kathryn suggested a different brand and gave me a free sample! Who does that?! WIN #1. Then she helped my friend choosing some scarves, while she also was tending to other shoppers. By the way, she lets everyone browse on their own and yet is always ready to answer anyone’s questions. Friendly, knowledgeable, non-​pushy shop owner… every shopper’s dream. WIN #2.
Last but not least, when I finally decided on my purchase (a gift) she offered to wrap and «giftify» it (cellophane, tissue paper, handmade bows, etc.) carefully. I noticed that she always takes the time to wrap each individual items other people’s purchase, no matter how big or small the item is. Having grown up in the retail industry, I am picky when it comes to wrapping and packing merchandise. Many have tried and failed to meet my standard, but not this place!
So kudos for Kathryn and her team at Common Folk. You ladies not only have the fun gift shop (vintage cameras, jewelleries, scarves, ornaments, French soaps, vintage lunch boxes to name a few), but also restore my hope in GREAT customer service. Worth the drive across the water, I’d say!

What a neat store to find the perfect gift for a lady in your life. Kathryn is a sweet owner and has excellent friendly assistance. I love the penny inlaid front entry.
