Got a tour of the campus that included lunch here, pretty good place! Good selection and good quality

[Lunch] A variety of healthy food. It’s basically a buffet with like 2 choices of soups, a salad bar, dessert bar, a froyo machine and hot food. The food was pretty good, especially since it is free for the googlers and their guest. :)

I Googled to find the best meal in Seattle and my «search» ironically ended at Google – LOL!!!1 Umm, seriously, a friend invited me out to Google Kirkland to chat about this and that, and who says no to lunch at Google? And however I might be inclined to rate things high-ly or low-ly, it’s free food served by awesome, friendly people in a relaxed, comfortable environment… so I think a rating here is irrelevant. Infinity stars. OK, fine. The pizza was pretty good for the Pacific Northwest, I will say that. And the pork roast was moist and delicious. To give myself some credibility as a reviewer, I guess I should point out that the sweet potato fries were cold, but I did show up late, so that’s a pretty lame complaint. Oh, there were freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies randomly being given out in one of the other buildings, so that was cool, and then later I had a coffee beverage I had never had before. I can’t remember the name but it entailed pre-adding cinnamon and sugar to the top of the coffee before attachment to the espresso machine. Seriously, this is how Googlers live? Why isn’t every office this way? Google Kirkland is conveniently located on the 255 bus line that goes directly to/from downtown Seattle. If you are not from Seattle, like me, you may have trouble locating the weird underground bus station, especially if you’re using Google Maps(zing). So, Seattle has these weird transit tunnels that certain trains and buses share. This is confusing, because there are also buses on the surface streets. Which is weird. And buses traveling through underground tunnels is weird. A vision of things to come or the result of insufficient infrastructure spending? You decide. In any case, you’re only a couple dollars and a great lake view away from Google Kirkland’s amazing free meals. I’d say you should probably befriend a Google employee before heading out there, but I didn’t really see much security that would have stopped me from eating if I hadn’t had an ID tag. Maybe there are drones. Or maybe they actually check the ID tags. Well, it’s probably best not to fuck with Google.

Wonderful selection of quality food! They also have a variety of options that include vegan and organic. This is the best place to work and eat And. .. when you are an employee, everything is free. Can’t get much better than free :)

Think the official name is Sudo café as noted by the comic near the food station. Food is made on site so is nice and fresh. There’s a hot food area, a place for sandwiches, salads and fruits. Kind of sad to say, they probably made one of the best veggie breakfast burritos I’ve had. Fun Café Fact: There is an onsite bakery and fresh baked cookies 4x a week… but not when I was there :(

The only thing that could make this place better is if you could order and it had wait staff. Even without those things, for what you get, in the atmosphere you get it in, for free… Why not 5 stars?!

Best breakfast ever. And it’s free to Googlers! Lucky dawgs. The fruit is all fresh and perfectly ripe, the bread amazing, the hot food tasty and delicious as well. Man, I need to get me a job here.

With Google’s new Kirkland address, the new Sudo Café solves a lot of challenges faced by the old café. Food is now cooked on-site. There is a grill area with rotating specials — often fish or various cuts of steak, plus consistent favorites like burgers and chicken sandwiches. The real magic is on the other side of the café, where there’s always something new to try. Paella, gyros, Indian food, jambalaya, and poached salmon have been on the menu in the past two weeks. And there’s always a variety of New York style pizzas — my favorite was the Duck Confit pizza served at the open house last week. And always there’s a vegan section, soups, salads(self-serve and composed), and a make-it-yourself sandwich bar. The new Google Kirkland office now easily rivals its competition in Mountain View, New York and Zurich.

While some of the mythos regarding Google has faded in the last 5 years or so as they can no longer be viewed in any regard as the golden scrappy underdog hiring the majority of the absolute best, brightest and most ambitious technical students, the luster has definitely not worn away on their approach to cuisine. Making lunch plans with a former coworker who now works in the Kirkland office, he suggested we just eat at the cafeteria because, well, why go anywhere else? He was right. This is not your middle or high school cafeteria, small but saturated with pleasant décor, color, and plenty of natural sunlight. Since the vast, selection(with a strong vegetarian-friendly component) rotates and is all free once you are in, reviews of individual items aren’t likely to be that helpful, so I’ll simply provide a summary of what I tried without encountering even a single miss: — Flank steak stuffed with roasted peppers and goat cheese — Grilled pepper stuffed with vegetables — Migas(from the presentation counter, Mexican breakfast food on this visit) — Chipotle pork chili — Horchata — Spicy«homemade» salsa with a few chips — A chocolate cupcake with a veritable mound of chocolate buttercream As one might infer from the above, I rolled out somewhat full. My own portion control skills are the only reason I was able to leave and work out two hours later at all. Admission is a matter of the heart(a true Googler friend who wants to have lunch during work hours) or the soul(dedicating most waking hours to Google employment), not the wallet which, depending on the circumstances, may be a lighter or heavier price. If you can afford either of the above currencies, you will not regret a visit… or six.

If you ever happen to find yourself in possession of a visitor-pass to the Google offices in Kirkland, make sure to avail yourself of their wonderful cafeteria. Google has a reputation for feeding their employees well and, when I got called in to do a usability study for them, I made sure to check out what they had to offer. At first glance, this is a pretty normal cafeteria. A little cramped and oddly laid out, maybe. Nothing to write home about. The food’s quality, however is very good. Cooked-to-order breakfasts and lunches along with a substantial salad bar, tasty sushi and desserts. Oh, and did I mention that everything is free? Yep, from the sushi to vitamin water it’s all free. Just gotta get that visitor’s pass. ..
