Sound Pet Eastside

I wanted to update my review as I know some places change after a time. I just wanted to say that Jolene and Nicole with Sound Pet Eastside have continued to be wonderful with my senior dogs and my cat. They continue to be very caring with my girls, attentive to any changes in health, one of my girls has cancer, and also work with me as my schedule can be challenging at times. I cannot sing the praises of Sound Pet Eastside enough.

From the moment Jolene came to my house to meet both me and my 3 dogs, her compassion, peaceful attitude and commitment to caring for my dogs was obvious. Since I travel occasionally during the weekends it was important for me to also feel comfortable with a dogsitter living alone in my house. Sound Pet Eastside has been providing long– and short-​term, in-​house care for my dogs for several years now and it is such a relief knowing I can leave the house and the dogs in the care of people I can trust without fail. On several occasions, Sound Pet Eastside has been able to provide dogsitting services within hours of my asking. The peace of mind Jolene and her crew provide is worth every penny. They are sweet, competent people who truly love dogs.

Our dog absolutely adores Jolene and Rio! We have been using her service for the last 2 years and couldn’t be happier. I swear, Chuy seems bummed to be back home with me after staying with her.

I had high hopes after reading reviews for Eastside Pet Lodge & Play Care, but was sorely disappointed. I emailed with the owner to set up a play evaluation for my dog before I had planned on leaving him there for a weekend. When I showed up for the play evaluation/​tour, the girl working had no idea I was coming and couldn’t give me a tour. I still left my dog for the play evaluation and she said everything went great. I came by the next day for a tour and was a little apprehensive to leave my dog because the entire house had a very unpleasant odor and was pretty dark and dingy. I decided to still leave my dog for the weekend, because it was only two nights and the reviews were so good. I picked him up and he seemed happy enough, although I had to give him a bath immediately because he smelled like the house. A few weeks later, I emailed the owner (who had written me a very nice apology email regarding the lack of communication about our tour time) about having Jack board there again since I hadn’t found a place I liked better. She emailed me back that they had availability, but that my dog had had a bunch of accidents while he stayed there the last time and I needed to bring some sort of diaper for him (meanwhile, no one mentioned this after his evaluation or after I picked him up and he is 100% housebroken at home and at every other boarding facility he had stayed at). I wrote back to her stating that Eastside Pet Lodge might not be the best fit for my dog and that the strong odor might have something to do with his problems (obviously dogs are going to the bathroom inside there all the time). She was friendly in her response, however emailed me a few days later saying there had been a mix up in our payment and asking me to give her my credit card number (with no bill) — I’m not in the habit of giving my credit card info to anyone, let alone somewhere that seems to have real organization issues. Anyways, I am looking for a new, cleaner, more organized place to board my dog. I would definitely NOT recommend Eastside Pet Lodge to anyone who cares about sanitary conditions or customer service.

This is the best boarding Roxy (our 3-​yr old golden retriever) has experienced. It’s a home. There are no kennels. There are no tiny fenced-​in sections separating troublesome dogs (like most boarders downtown). There are no gigantic warehouse rooms where a giant pack runs around like crazy (like places in north Seattle). Somehow even with a pack of dogs, the place is still clean. Your dog won’t come back needing a bath or smelling like pee unlike some of the places in Belltown. Everyone there absolutely loves dogs, which is a big deal. And when your dog is boarded there, it’s also taken for a walk. In the summer, they go down to the lake and fetch in the water. Every other boarder in the metro area charges extra for that. You can find slightly cheaper boarding elsewhere, but you’ll pay for that when your dog comes home smelly and suffering from intestinal problems.

We’ve boarded our Dog here 3 times already. She is a 6 year old Blue Heeler (Joey). We love that they don’t kennel or cage the dogs and let them roam the facility like it was their home. The floors have special wall to wall rubber mats that are great for traction, gentle on their paws and easily cleaned. They have plenty of chairs, beds and couches for the dogs to rest/​sleep on. The back yard is large and a kinda cool feature is that half of the yard is real grass while the other is artificial like a sports field. The staff is excellent and care for your dog like it were their own. The owner is awesome, she loves, loves, loves dogs and it shows in the ways she runs the place and the people she hires. I know my Joey love this place because each time we pick her up, she seams just a content to stay as she does to leave. Don’t get me wrong she’s very happy to see us, I can tell by the blur of her tail stub wagging, but she isn’t bolting for the car door like when she’s stayed at other boarding facilities.

The Eastside Pet Lodge is fantastic! My 6 year old yellow lab stayed there for 10 days while we were on vacation. I visited several boarding facilities and just didn’t find any that I liked. There were several that are highly rated that keep dogs in their runs ²⁴⁄₇ and expect them to go potty in their runs. They only get two 15 minute playtimes if you pay extra. I really wanted to find a kennel free place for my four legged baby and was very happy to find the Eastside Pet Lodge. No kennels, nice facility & yard and dogs get to sleep on the sofas, the floor, the beds… anywhere they like. There is an employee there ²⁴⁄₇ which I really liked. Don’t be surprised, it is not cheap…$ 50 a day for boarding but in my opinion it was well worth it. Only down side is that I had to teach my dog that he is not allowed on our sofa after he spent 10 days sleeping on the sofa at the pet lodge :)
