Monte Wolfe’s has one thing the rest of the restaurants in Kirkwood lack… their outside burgers are on point! If ywilling to wait in line for mediocre service due to not enough employees and way too many people. You will be fortunate to get the Western BBQ burger with bacon, bbq sauce, and fried onions. The outside grill also toasts the buns for the added flavor! The downside to Monte’s is everyone has the same idea to get out of the cold and eat. So it’s always super crowded…

We’ve been homeowners here since 2000, and tried to eat at Monte Wolfe’s today for lunch. The choices are totally uninspired and mainly unhealthy. They are also very, very expensive, even by ski resort standards. Glad that we own a home here, so we can come back here for lunch!

I’ve been coming to kirkwood for over 25 years. When this place was built I was stoked that there a food place right by the ski lift. I mean the food is not bad and not amazing. It’s just run of the mill food. Nothing really wows you. Unfortunately this season they cut back on the food selection because I’m guessing the lack of business. During the week baked potatoes and some other items weren’t available. But hey if you want something fancy go to northstar, squaw or heavenly. You’ll end up paying for it too. The only thing though is that I had an amazing cibatta chicken sandwich at aspen mountain for $ 12 and this is where everything is expensive. Kirkwood please step up your game on food. If aspen can do something good for $ 12 so can you.

This place is overpriced, the staff is incompetent, and the selection is terrible. My boyfriend ordered my California Burger and his Epic Mountain Burger together. These plus chili fries and his beer came out to $ 50. Mine took about a minute to come out — I was really surprised. The bun was cold and stale, the patty very tightly pressed together and barely warm, and and the guac a thin layer of the lowest quality grocery store brand spread thinly across my stale bread. I had a really hard time enjoying this. 1 star. In the meantime, my boyfriend’s burger took about 15 minutes. By the time he joined us with his burger, we were all almost done with our meals. He had to repeat his order to 3 people on the kitchen staff before they finally got around to making it. While he was waiting, he saw one person knock a knife sharpener into the trash and pick it up(he did wash it in the sink); he also saw a girl knock over a big pile of ramekins. The whole place was overstaffed yet incredibly inefficient; everyone was bumbling and didn’t know what they’re doing. His burger seemed a little better, the patties weren’t so obviously processed store-bought ones that had just come out of the package. 3 stars. The chili fries were not bad — 3 stars. At least it was pretty empty at about 1:30pm(though this was the Saturday before the SuperBowl). They give you Hershey’s Kiss’s at the register.

My friends and I didn’t have many options when it came to lunch at kirkwood. Monte Wolfes seemed like a good idea since it was inside and we were able to find a table. I’ve never paid so much for this terrible of a cheeseburger in my entire life. For $ 10+ I was expecting a pretty amazing burger. Instead, the cold bun was disintegrating in my hand as I ate. The burger was filled with shredded iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato and sliced onion. It was made to order, probably because we were towards the end of the lunch rush. We also got fries for $ 5. You’re much better off trying another eatery or bringing your own lunch. There are restrooms in here that skiers and boarders use right off the slopes, so it seems busy and crowded inside. I would have given this place 1 star if it wasn’t for the sweet guy working here who offered to take our plates when we finished. He really didn’t have to, but he was very kind to go out of his way to make our experience a tad bit better.

NOWAY! Do NOT eat here! You are better off bringing your own lunch. The worst $ 33 ever spent to toss the entire thing in the garbage. The Epic and California burgers were made with some questionable white colored meat. I had to ask the guy«Are you sure this is beef?» since they also served turkey burgers. The garlic fries were the only thing we could eat. Definitely not recommended!

DONOTEATHERE! I along with my brother-in-law unfortunately had the vegetable soup here 3 days ago. We have been sick ever since and that is the only meal our family didn’t share with us. I left a message for the manager and I haven’t heard back from anyone. Not only do they serve food that makes people sick they don’t have the common courtesy to call someone back after they reach out to make sure no one else does.

Decent food. Burrito bowl is pretty good. As with any resort, a bit over priced. However the bar is excellent. Patrick is super nice!

New garlic fries are delicious. Patrick the bartender is awesome. Try a patty melt — they are delicious!

The bar is adequate and fine, but this very simple cafeteria provides the weakest food option at Kirkwood resort. You are better off with one of their out-door BBQs in the village or the back-side, or basically with eating anything else anywhere else at the resort. My meal of choice was a half-assed burrito and my wife tried a burger withe extremely greasy garlic fries. Simply put, a Cliff bar and an apple would have been a better decision.

The food sucks now, but there isn’t any other option for breakfast besides eating before you come. Here’s to remembering the awesome breakfast burritos of yesteryear.

Definitely in my opinion one of the worst places at Kirkwood to eat! This place is always packed because it is in the middle of everything and if it is snowing(and if generally is at Kirkwood!) all bets are off getting a table Monte Wolfe’s. There is nothing special about the food here and it generally gets cold really quick. Also, expect normal ski resort prices. I will give it one star however for the bar. It is tucked away in the corner and the prices aren’t bad compared to the food. The bartenders are usually pretty nice and it is a decent spot to wait towards the end of the day if you get off the slopes early.

It agitates me that a good mountain with $ 77 lift tickets serves bowling alley quality food. Price is obviously not a concern for most patrons so why not jack up the prices slightly more and offer something good? The ambiance can be described as something that rhymes with clusterduck. You’re probably better off with a Powerbar in between runs. Cheeseburger: I’ve had better at Burger King and for a fraction the price! The burger was fairly thin and completely well done. The bun had that weird synthetic Wonder bread texture. The cheese was melted and then re-solidified since it had been sitting out a bit. Fries: Standard. A bit not-so-fresh after grabbing them from under the heating lamp. Chili in a Sourdough Bowl: How do you mess up sourdough? I guess they found a way since it was very tough and stale tasting. The chili was blah and miserly allotted… they should have made a larger reserve in the bread bowl.

I miss the sexy voice announcer… because I miss my specially made sandwiches with the meat piled sky high, toppings galore, and enough food to be shared by 2. Now they have premade sandwiches(still made by the sexy voice announcer… I saw her putting them in the open fridge area). They took away some tables to add a couple more cash registers(bringing the total to 6) for no apparent reason. Monte Wolfe’s main problem in the past was not long lines to ring up your food but long lines to get a freakin’ table. Now everyone will get their food faster and wait longer for their tables.

They changed the layout and the way you order food — not sure if I like it yet. I spotted a table about to vacate so I stalked the current residents until they left while my boarding buddies waiting in line. I couldn’t look at the menu so I got my standard chili cheese fries. You can’t really save money here — but you wouldn’ t expect cheap food at a resort so… There’s only 2 stalls in the bathroom in this part of the lodge so the lines get pretty long. I can’t tell you where the short lines are because I don’t want the secret to get out ;p They also have a new bar set up with a flat screen tv — I remember when the old tv came crashing down on the bar table — don’t think that won a safety award. –½ star for doing away with the phone sex announcer(the food is all pre-made for you take with you)

Pick your favorite 1 – 900 sex line(I don’t have a favorite, they’re ALL great), imagine the sultry voice of say,“Amber” and imagine her saying«Numberrrr threeee fooorty-one.» For 3+ years she’s been at Monte’s, and at this point I hear her in my sleep. Unless it’s the chili, don’t eat anything warm here. OK, maybe the fries, but you can’t f’ up fries that badly. It’s all about sharing a wrap. Spinach wrap with all the veggies imaginable, hummus, turkey, avocado and pepper jack is the way to go. About 3 lbs of food. For ~$ 5 each, not a bad deal, and it certainly beats that smashed, soggy, warm sando that you brought to the mountain.

Dried grisly cheeseburger: $ 7.75 Decent chili cheese fries that I’ve eaten one too many times: $ 6.50 Overpriced drinks to dull the day’s pain: $ 20+ Hearing that sexy voice call your number over the intercom: Priceless.

I’ve eaten at this café for 3 seasons and it gets pricey. They serve reasonably price breakfast, but their lunch menu is pricey and bit bland. Bring your own food is my choice. What cracks me up is the lady who calls out the food order. She sounds like a sex phone lady. Everyone knows what I’m talking about. Not really my turn on.

if you are me. and like to get to kirkwood early and wait for the lift chairs to start… monte wolfe’s use to have the most grubbin’ breakfast burrito… not only was it enormous… but it’s piping hot and good…(but, the cooks are pretty slow there… sometimes i want to just jump in there and make it myself)…now, winter 2010 – 2011, the food has gone downhill…
