Fish Chips & Beyond

Friendly service. Got ice for us before we asked for it. My mixed fish & chips was little greasy & my chips under cooked for me. I should have asked for crispy. Batter had really good taste. I should have gotten cod only

A VERY very basic/​traditional family owned (from N. Yorkshire) chippie that offers up fairly authentic British fare. CASH ONLY!!! (seriously, no credit) The owners are very friendly and cook up everything fresh, but they’re a bit like a British comedy in terms of their professionalism. To that point, the place is also known as Grandma’s Kitchen in Unilocal (seriously same restaurant) and the outdoor signage is equally confusing … driving down the road their sign on the main road is so faded that it’s impossible to see when driving, and the sign above the door says Fish and Chips, with no mention of Grandma (but is also faded). Best bet is look for the Publix and Subway signs, as their shop is wedged between those. If you get out of your car and look at the papers taped to the window you’ll see it says grandma’s, but not from your car. When you walk in your feet will stick to the floors and every item in there is tacky with fried oil — sort of like every chippie in the UK. My only complaint is they REALLY need to put pay down the food before serving and then put down a layer of newsprint paper on the plates in order to sop up the oil from the food. SO, if you’re a Brit missing a taste of home you’ll love this place, if on the other hand you prefer a high class and shiny British place with lots of circuses and pub feel… this is not your place.

The place is located in a strip mall which was tricky to find. The restaurant atmosphere was not inviting and the prices were overpriced. Since the owners were from the UK, I was expecting authentic food. At best, the food was mediocre. A waste of time and money.

The food is excellent and the service was great. The people are super friendly. The atmosphere was typical for a small place. I will defiantly be going back.
