MovieStop is a brand-new offshoot of the GameStop franachise, and is currently testing the waters with several locations in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. It has an interesting concept(trade old movies for new ones) but it has some of the same issues that plague GameStop. The Good: I hate this movie! Get rid of it!: Lets say it’s your birthday and someone gets you a copy of Eragon or Gigli. You can take the clunker right back to MovieStop and actually get some store credit out of your otherwise worthless movie and get one you actually want. Buy Used Movies for Cheap: Sure you may want to check out last year’s Shrek movie, but maybe you don’t feel like paying $ 15 for it. The good news is that you can find it used for less than $ 10, and it comes with a 30 day no skip guarantee. The Bad: What do you mean $ 1?: Although you can trade in basically any movie you want, that doesn’t mean you’ll get a lot. Most old releases will only net you about $ 3-$ 4 and if they are bad you’ll only get about $ 1(I got $ 1 for the Stepford Wives and Collateral) Wait…this is expensive!: If you are planning to get a new release, expect to pay about $ 5 more than the regular Wal-Mart price for the standard version(and about $ 7 more for special editions) MovieStop works well if you have a whole bunch of movies you don’t want and don’t mind buying some older titles used. But to get new releases it just isn’t worth the extra cost of the movies. Overall 5.5÷10 Vintage Value, but not much else…
