Got pulled pork sandwich. The pork was great the staff was very friendly. My only complaint was that the roll for the sandwich was your basic grocery store torpedo roll.

The only reason I tried this place is that I got a certificate at a reduced rate from (who suck). Turns out this restaurant stopped taking those certificates back in March, but the owner still gave me a good disount. I did take out(they also have a drive-thru) and I got the BBQ sampler and buffalo tenders. The sampler was great — pork rips, two ½ chickens, some sweet potato fries, potato salad and cole slaw. Everything was made on site except for the tenders, which were basically something I could have gotten from the frozen section of a grocery store. But the sampler was excellent and I would highly recommend it. Quite honestly, the atmosphere is a bit blah, but good for families. The owner was really nice, friendly and threw in some extras for me. I would defintiely go back.

poorly run business, the décor is lacking BIGTIME we went at 5 ish on a Saturday, only 1 other couple and one take out. No waitress, just the owner taking our order without even leaving the counter had to sort of yell it from our table 4ft away. I ordered Ceasar salad — his reply«I don’t think so I’m out of lettuce» we ended up leaving when he refused our gift certificate from ,

I saw this BBQ place coming down rt.1, I should say SMELLED it. When I looked over I noticed someone at the smoker which is always nice to see at a bbq place. So the next day before my boyfriend and I headed back to CT, we had to try it out. Especially since we’ve been bummed ever since Muddy River closed. We got the sampler as it is a must for trying somewhere new and wow! It was great to our surprise. The chicken was so tasty and just fell off the bone! The ribs were GREAT too. We had the mac n cheese and coleslaw and they were fantastic. The owner was there and chatted with us which was great and he’s very down to earth. Just about everything except a couple sides, which he will admit to, are homemade abd boy it shows. Bottom line, CHECKITOUT! The décor is lacking but seriously, you cares what a place looks like when the food is incredible? I go for great food not to stare at the walls. I can definitely say that we will be returning every time we’re in the area!

I am sorry to say this was the worst bbq I have ever had. I ordered the ¼ white chick with 2 pork ribs for $ 10. It tasted like it was quickly cooked on a gas grill, refrigerated for 2 days, and then reheated in the oven for 20 minutes and tossed in bbq sauce. The chicken was stiff and dry and you really had to work to get the meat off the ribs. No smoke rings, no smoke taste, dripping in bbq sauce, and barley warm. :( I wish I could say the sides were better. The mac and cheese was so over cooked the macaroni was falling apart and it had a jello like consistency. There was a greasy texture with no hint of cheese. The potato salad was ok, but was oddly served in a coffee cup? Regretted going and will not return.

If you’re looking for some good BBQ in Southern Maine, Mainely Bar-B-Que is your place, which is located along US Route 1 in Kittery north of the outlets. I still miss the smoky flavored BBQ from Muddy River, which was located in Eliot and Portsmouth NH. The place itself is not very fancy and definitely not the place for a romantic dinner, which has a very old school and semi-«cluttered» atmosphere inside with a few tables/booths, a small TV, and a long counter(takeout). The front windows are painted with some colorful and animated pigs. Some of the menu offerings include salads, soups, chili, wings, onion rings, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, catfish, and a variety of smoked meat platters including shredded beef, chicken, pork, and sausage(hot or sweet) and several choices of homemade sides. Specials are also offered. See the menu and prices at I’ve stopped in here twice for takeout. On my first visit, I ordered the BBQ Shredded Pork Sandwich($ 6.59) served with ruffled chips and spicy pickle chips. The slowed smoked pork was very tender and juicy and smothered with lots of sweet BBQ sauce served on a soft hoagie roll. On my recent visit, I ordered the BBQ Catfish($ 9.99) served with choice of two sides. The tender catfish was grilled(slightly dry inside) and smothered with a sweet BBQ sauce. The sides I chose tasted really good including the homemade potato salad(very creamy mayo and celery with tender potato chunks) and the dirty rice was spicy tasting with a soft mushy texture. The owner was friendly on each visit and the food was immediately prepared and cooked to order in the side kitchen. Overall, this Southern Maine BBQ restaurant gets 3.5 stars with good tasting food at fair prices and a «not so fancy» atmosphere. FACEBOOK:
