Worst pancakes I’ve ever had. The service and people were actually very nice compared to what others have reviewed. I ordered the sweet cream pancakes, made it a platter with eggs and bacon. There was nothing sweet about those pancakes. It was sour. Tasted like I was eating a sourdough pancake. The eggs and bacon were good, but that’s two items I’d be mortified if they messed that up too. My bf got pork roll with his eggs, which were really good. Fin.

I often wonder what disappointment taste like and once the food arrived at our table I found out. I had the local special and home fries. All of it was over cooked and burnt would have sent it back but, apparently the business model here is dump the crappy food at the table and hide till the customers leave this becomes very effective with the pay when you order system. There is no way we will ever return to this place for any meal while in the Outer Banks.

I was excited to try this place from reading the menu. Upon walking in it was confusing as you order at the counter and then find a seat. For the price and so called quality of ingredients one would expect to have a waitress. The women taking my order at the counter was extremely rude was the first strike. I sat outside on the patio with my family for almost an hour. To top it off my son literally had his hand sliced from the decrepit table. I went inside to ask for a bandage and also to see how much longer the wait would be for our food. A women brought a bandaid out for my son and made no apologies for the tables and chairs that were rotting with rust. After an hour wait, we received our food. It was average and bland. I’m confused why the wait was so long and why they have the wait staff system they do. I don’t recommend the place and if you brave it make sure you’ve had a tetanus shot(seriously).

I can see why this place gets dogged in the rankings now. I’ve figured it out — the restaurant is just a cover for a slave work camp with the staff as the prisoners. Cuz they SURE don’t look like they wanna be here. As others referred to this is not a place that provides service AND a smile. Ordering at the counter, I felt almost guilty for bothering the lady. And the girl who brought my breakfast out kinda plopped it in front of me w that«Aight here’s ur F’g food now shut up and don’t even think about asking me for anything else.» If the minions here could be set free it would be a nice place to eat and chill. Food was better than average def good biscuits but hey we are in the south — good biscuits I doubt are hard to find. Cool deli too great desserts beer and wine selections. But… Dang — do I ever feel unwelcome here. I may leave the toilet seat up in protest.

The breakfast did not blow me away but it was good and filling, large portions. Tasty Bellini. Girl who took our order and brought food was super friendly and helpful. I can imagine this place is a nightmare during season but lucky we’re locals. Loved the market, we bought a couple of reasonably priced wines. Ambiance was great! Go in the off season between popular breakfast and lunch times.

Great breakfast served in a skillet. Awesome selection in the store of old/odd sodas and candies. Choices throughout the store in wines, desserts, treats, etc. Don’t expect low prices and stellar service and you won’t be disappointed. Go for choices. Stay because they’re open year around

Looks cute, nice setting but the food was below average for the price. Of the four meals we ordered, only the chocolate chip pancakes were ok. Everything else seemed kind of below par. French toast was undercooked, salmon sandwich was meh, and the panini bread seemed pasty. Soup was bland. If you’re going to stop for lunch, this isn’t your best bet.

Ok so… This place is certainly over priced. My friend and I went for sandwiches. She had the veggie panini and I had the applewood. We both thought our Paninis were okay but kinda bland. And for the price… There are definitely better options in the area. The selection was good with tons of yummy candy, wine, and deli options. The place was as aesthetically lovely… But once again over priced. The patio was super cute and nice. Would I go back? Maybe if that was the only thing open.

We had a very good breakfast very quickly. Very clean and very professional. Plenty of room in a nice setting

Other than finding a hair in my tuna sandwich, the food was very bland and the portions sparse. This place is a pass unless you like paying 10 dollars for a lot of bread with almost nothing in between. :(

This has always been one of our favorite places when visiting the Outer Banks, but things were very different this year for a number of reasons we were not so happy. First, they are still on winter hours in mid-April, so no dinners at all, closing at 3:30 pm. Second, the two favorite things we almost always ordered are off the menu, available only when on special. One of them was the meatloaf sandwich, which had been a nice thick piece of meatloaf with spicy ketchup that my husband always loved. Today, their website said it was on special, but when we got there, not so. He ended up getting a turkey/bacon/cheese panini, which looked more like a tostada. My favorite, the portabella sandwich, was on special, although it had changed from the guacamole sauce topping to a motzarella, and it was good. Third, it seemed to be a bother to want to read the menu before ordering, although when I asked to substitute the cucumber salad with something I could eat, there was reluctant agreement. Fourth, with two sandwiches and two cheesecake slices for dessert, the bill came to a whopping $ 32. Not a must-go place any longer!

Won’t be returning to this over priced restaurant. While the food was good, service was horrible! Can’t imagine how customers are treated during the busy summer; we were one of the only customers in there and were treated with complete disgust by the«lady» taking our order and another woman who brought us our food. Spending my $$ at other establishments.

The best thing here for breakfast is the burrito. We’ve had the traditional burrito with meat, the French toast deluxe and the western omelet. French toast is fine, nothing special. They use strawberry compote in addition to fresh strawberries. The omelet is more of a scramble and the egg to filling ratio is high. Toast was terrible — dry and hard like cardboard. The omelet at stack em high is better(also better toast and home fries).

My new bride and I were looking for something to nibble on when we were on the beach and looked for a sandwich place. This place looked particularly appealing and we stopped. I got the Cubana and my wife got the hummus sandwich. We got them to go, packed them in the cooler, and headed to the beach. We stopped at Brew Thru on the way there, because WOO!, the beer prices at Good Life are STEEP! We got the same beers we might have for less. Nonetheless, what we DID get from Good Life was delicious! My Cubana was filled with pork and country ham, seasoned with a black bean spread and guacamole. The wife got a hummus with red onion and cucumber and the bite I got had a delicious and not overpowering pickled taste. I can’t even imagine how the sandwiches would be if they were fresh!

Home fries have more grease than taste. Tomato in omlette tasted bad. Gluten free toast was good. Bit pricey for quality.

The food was just ok. Their pancakes are really crepes– we got blueberry & banana which they just sliced the bananas on top of– they weren’t cooked in which is legit. Their homefries, eggs and toast breakfast was alright– nothing spectacular. The bacon was paper thin– not yummy. I had a Taylor ham, egg and cheese roll. A tiny little plastic cup of OJ and 2 brewed coffees was $ 26. Nothing wowed us except for the coffee. Saving grace: dog friendly patio.

Don’t expect people to wait on you here as it’s not a hold your-hand-type of place. You enter into a nicely arranged deli/store type setting which leads to a counter where you place your order from a menu located in a barrel at your knees, on the register counter splayed out, or boards above your head at the registers and deli area. Grab your drink, silverware and napkins as you head into seating area and place your order # on the corner or the table. Pancakes are fantastic even without syrup on them, light and fluffy. Anything with eggs is done perfectly again light and fluffy. Breads are local, fresh daily and flavorful. Great fresh coffee with a solid section. Notes — Crepes aren’t the best, They were rather crispy and hard with more filling than crêpe. Should be delicate and light with just enough filling to not overpower the filling. Skip the cheesy crab omelette, the crab is obviously canned.
