I always found beef jerky to be the perfect road trip snack and this beef jerky outlet is conveniently located right next to the interstate. It was fun to see all the different kinds of jerky meats and sausages — beef obviously, turkey, elk, ostrich and more. They have samples too — my favorite was the cherry turkey jerky in the sweet & spicy section. The meat jerky is a little pricey though — almost $ 10 for 4oz. They sell jams, sauces, fudge and other stuff too — we ended up just getting a jar of Pecan Pumpkin Butter. Still a great place to check out if you love beef jerky.

I found this place using the roaming map on Unilocal, because I was passing through Kodak to see a Smokies baseball game, and I was curious to know if there was anything worth seeing nearby. When I saw the name«Beef Jerky Outlet,» I knew it was a place that I should definitely stop by. It’s conveniently located right off of I-40, and fairly easy to get to regardless of which way you’re coming from, since it’s located on the opposite side of the bridge that heads towards Pigeon Forge. It’s right next to a Bass Pro Shops, and across from a candy shop called«Chocolate Monkey,» which I have to admit might sound questionably racist to the wrong set of ears but whatever. Entering Beef Jerky outlet almost feels like walking into a candy shop of meat. There are giant barrels of supposed jerky you can buy in customizable bulk, if you don’t want to buy any of their pre-portioned bags that hang from all the walls. The jerky isn’t all beef either, as I noticed that they alternatively sold turkey and salmon jerky as well. In addition to just jerky, they sell a pretty notable variety of jams, jellies as well as cheeses, but since I was just passing through, and planned on leaving my car in the middle of a parking lot on a hot day, I stuck with the jerky. I have to say though, the cost of jerky was a little pricey in my opinion. I’m not going to pretend like I’m an expert on jerky by any stretch of the imagination, but all I know that I tend to see the word«outlet,» and think like outlet malls, where things are typically believed to be somewhat cheaper than they would be in normal retailers. That being said, buying three 4 oz. bags of jerky rung me up almost $ 30. Not to take anything away from them, all three varieties of the jerky I got were good, it wasn’t shoe leather consistency, and they had lots of flavor. But for what they charge for it, and the fact that they call themselves an outlet, I was kind of hoping that I could have been able to make my road trip home with a little bit more than what I had paid for. Regardless, it’s a cool place to visit while on a road trip, and if you’re in the mood for some jerky, they have quality product.

Road-trip on 81 + Tennessee + stoping for jerky at the outlet = AWESOME + more thirst + more pee breaks. Well worth it. 2 more things: — they deliver be fedex off their website. — they have got a lot more than just beef jerky.
