My husband and I stayed at the American Club for my birthday and dined at the Wisconsin Room two nights in a row. We he such an incredible time and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. The first night, there was a seafood buffet, which my husband would have loved — but I can’t eat seafood. We apologized because we didn’t realize that the menu wasn’t offered that night due to the buffet and planned to go somewhere else. Our waitress, Kimberly, was amazing and told me that she would be able to offer me a meal from the in-room dining menu and have it brought to our table instead of our room, so that my husband could still enjoy the seafood buffet. The food was delicious and Kimberly went above and beyond to make us have a perfect dinner together. The next night the regular menu was offered. The sweet potato gnocchi was incredible! I also really loved the squash soup! Our waitress, Julia, was fantastic and went above and beyond. She surprised us with sorbet for my birthday and two glasses of champagne for a toast. The coconut sorbet was delicious! We will absolutely be back for another birthday trip!!!

This needs to be one place in the state that everyone can give five stars, but not this time. The edges were really ragged. Daughter planned a really nice family gathering for 12 adults and three under 3’s for New Year’s Day evening. Information on both the web site and by phone was incorrect regarding the menu, but some of us were happy for that. We have been coming here since a couple of weeks after the place opened back in the 80’s, and our daughter was a small child herself. We have been living on the East Coast until recently and were happy to return to this scene of so many happy occasions for us. Here is a partial list of the observations: — We arrived slightly before opening and the piano bar was totally jammed up with people waiting to register in the hotel. Not a pleasant atmosphere. — When entering the Wisconsin Room there was an overwhelming odor from cooked fish. It turned out to be the codfish buffet setup virtually under one’s feet at the entrance. — The appetizer buffet is the high point with a number of very nice fish and shellfish offerings. The shrimp were slightly undercooked. The oysters were really good fresh ones, but somehow the liquid was missing from all of them, which was noted by several of the family. Smoked mussels were a fairly unique and welcome offering. — I was personally unimpressed with the main course fish offerings, as codfish is not high on my preference list. Haddock or freshwater fish would have been far better. — However, there was a non-fish main course offering of prime rib. Unfortunately, it was desperately undercooked. I would have called it cold center as some of it was still on the purple side. When I asked to look at the other end of the roast, the young man, nervous as a cat, asked me if I wanted more well-done. I replied that I would term it just less raw, but that did not exist on this particular roast, which was really a beautiful piece of meat. I am a prime rib fan and finding this available on the same night as a sea food appetizer buffet was, to me, the mother lode. — The staff were very pleasant and generally well trained and service oriented. I am assuming that we were dealing with the B Team, as the A Team would have all been engaged in the festivities of the night before. The young lady who said their goodbyes sounded as though she had just been practicing her lines in the back room. Also, the bartender in the piano bar was a sweet young lady who was very accommodating, but virtually clueless about the offerings on display. — When we left around 8 o’clock the place was full up, so I am sure they were happy to get our tables back, but there was never any indication of rush for that. All of us continue to think of the American Club offerings as what is great about Wisconsin, and we intend to come back at some less stressed time of year.

Go for dinner! Super quaint– dinner by candlelight, warm red and blue colors, lights on the trees outside… Sunday brunch was good— not ah/may/zing, but good quantity. It was dinner that wow’ed us. Very fresh, lots of interesting flavors. The flatbread appetizer was generous, with lots of fresh veges– shareable among 4 ppl. The cream of mushroom soup was like a Sunday Pot Roast in my mouth(in a good way— taste buds were singing for joy over the hour following my last bite). Perch was also good— fried well, not heavy, and with an amazing potato hash combination. Steak was a bit chewy, but excellently cooked and seasoned.

I found this restaurant on Unilocal, this evening. I had never been to this area and was looking for a nice dinner after a long work day. This restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. Tessa, our waitress was delightful, knowledgeable and provided a fabulous level, of service. The food was amazing!!! The historic ambience and gorgeous décor added to the overall experience of the evening. I will be back!!!

Great classic American restaurant. Lots of food choices including steaks and other more sophisticated dishes. Great food and service with a classic country style.

Service during our breakfast was excellent.(Of course Monday mornings in the winter you don’t have a big crowd.) Menu selections were rather limited re egg dishes, but everything tasted great especially bacon. Coffee was also excellent. The look and feel of the place is typical of the classic American Club.

Never been disappointed at Kohler, The brunch was exquisite, the food was exceptional even for a late seating at 1PM for Sunday brunch. Foods were being filled as if it were the first seating, oysters on the half shell, mountains of shrimp, Prime rib roasts being carved, and of course the many delightful foods served at The Wisconsin Room. Champagne was abounding and I had a fantastic Bloody Mary with shrimp, cheeses, celery and chipotle covered bacon! You can always expect less then perfection from Kohler.

First off, I hate to give this place a bad review because our overall experience at Kohler was amazing, from the Carriage House to the Spa. Service was over the top fantastic, and we truly enjoyed the other parts of the resort. We went to the Wisconsin Room for Valentine’s Day dinner. First off, when we made the reservation, they didn’t mention the mandatory $ 80/$ 120 pre-fixe menu. This was sort of irritating, as it may have impacted our decision, and we were looking forward to trying other things on the menu. However, the main issue was the food and pace of service. Everything came out incredibly SLOWLY(and for a pre-fixe menu, this seemed especially odd), and not one dish we had was good… specifically, the main entrees. I had scallops, my husband had steak. His meal was basically inedible. It seemed to have been microwaved(the potatoes were a solid, leathery mass) and the steak was overcooked yet cold covered in an unappealing brown gravy. It was an extremely disappointing meal, in a very expensive setting. Something was definitely off with the restaurant, and hopefully they remedy it going forward.

Lovely service, classic room w/high ceilings. We came in on a Friday night which happened to be a seafood buffet night. I wanted to order off the menu, but when I realized there was an entire crudo/raw bar w/oysters, scallops, clams, smoked salmon… I was pleased! There were various cooked items but I did not go for all of that.

This review is for dinner and brunch. Dinner is 4 stars and brunch is 5++++. The dinner was great. The lettuce wedge could use a little more dressing. The caprese salad was phenomenal. I ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the prime rib and he loved it. I wish they would add lobster and NY strip to the menu. I feel that in a place this expensive you should really have it available. The dessert menu needs to include a chocolate option. I noticed not many people ordered dessert. Probably because the options are not great. The brunch is the best brunch I have ever had. Get the crème brule french toast!

I had a tough time with this one. The service was great(everyone here our whole visit was SO nice!!). The amuse — a chilled cranberry soup — was good. The gnocchi appetizer was just ok. The fried perch was good and the pork tenderloin was very good but a heavy dish. I wasn’t blown away by any of the food necessarily. We were given a nice little sweet plate at the end for celebrating our anniversary. It’s very old fashioned and feels a bit like a banquet hall. But that’s the vibe that people are looking for here I think. If we came back here for dinner on a future visit, that would be fine but I don’t think we’d make it a point to and may explore other options like the wine bar.

Great Friday Night Seafood buffet. Highly recommended, but dress appropriately. No hats, tennies or anything less then business casual.

The canapes were all fun and delicious, though the ones on crackers may have been sitting out a while, as the crackers seemed a bit stale. Still, with the variety of all the choices, and complexity of each one, they were fantastically delicious. The omelet was made well and of course to order, but dragging that down was the sadness that was the cold roast beef, despite being under a heat lamp and carved when asked! The Caesar salad was quite good and the Crème fraiche horse radish was rather. Of note also was the french toast, which was divine in it’s sweetness, and not over the top in serving size. The champagne flowed, as did the coffee, and the waitress, while quite busy, was nothing short of professional, nice, and spot on. Twas a treat as I rarely go to brunch anymore:)

Wonderful Sunday Brunch. Overall food was Amazing! Its not a huge buffet but they offer everything we want in a good quality brunch. We were not as lucky with our server. She was never around and never took our plates away. I had to pile them up on the side and call her to bring me more coffee and juice. She sounded like a robot trying to be polite and repeat what she was trained to say to the guests But still, it is worth to try this place. I highly recommend.

We had breakfast there 2 days in a row during our stay. No dinners. We loved everything we had. Today I had short rib hash and eggs w/sage hollendaise.-best ever! The dining room is half its size during the wk and then they open a curtain and make it larger on weekends. They also serve a buffet along w. their regular menu on weekends.

Overall the experience was good, just good. When you enter you’re greeted by hostesses I believe and you’re taken to your table. My guest and I were seated at the far back corner table. It was very crowded and getting up and out was difficult. Our server promptly greeted us and explained the Sunday Brunch buffet. However, as the experience progressed, her upbeat mood went downhill. As part of our birthday celebrations, we were given a card and some truffles, but they were less than pleasantly placed on our tables by our server who seemed less than enthusiastic. Her attitude prevented me from giving this a 5 star experience. The food was good though, except for the fact that the quiche was a little undercooked and somewhat runny, which is not at all the consistency quiche should be. Omelettes and toast/pancakes/waffles were very good.

OMGOMGOMG. This place was AAAAAA-MAZING. First, the staff is SO polite and attentive. You feel like a guest in their house. They treat you like royalty. My wife and I had dinner and Sunday brunch buffet. Our dinner was off the chart. The butternut squash soup, the meat platter, the char, and the short ribs. One better than the next. The short ribs were the best Ive ever had. If you can find me a better short rib, Ill pay you $ 100. A huge portion of the most tender short ribs. They give you a knife, which I found funny. I could cut those with my finger. SO tender. The carrots and brussels sprouts were divine. OK, now brunch buffet. What can I say? Crème brûlée french toast. Shrimp. SOme of the best prime rib ever. CHEESY. HASHBROWN. CASSEROLE! Amazing pastries, chicken salad, eggs, sausage, and on and on. The only downside was that we had a short time to eat because of our spa schedule. But maybe thats good, because I could have ate for hours and gained 20 pounds. I wanted to challenge the french toast chef to see if he could make it faster than I could eat it. Thank You Wisconsin Room for an amazing birthday weekend for my wife. Cant wait to come back!

We did the Sunday Brunch. It’s a buffet. It was 30pp(on 11÷17÷13) @ 10:30am. It was an truly amazing buffet. Everything they offered was very fresh, flavorful, & memorable. The prime rib(per my hubs) was perfectly seasoned w an amazing run… super tender. Comparable to and in some ways exceeds the Ritz Carlton(STLOUIS&CHICAGO) spread in terms of consistency in the flavor fulness of each item. Fresh oysters. Lovely canapés. The brûlée the French toast to serve. Salads were good. Desserts were decadent and bite sized perfectness. Nice coffee. Great environment. Casual to spa clothes to dressy. You can where what u want. Which we liked bc we came directly from the spa. Only shortcoming was the omelette. I prefer it French vs American preparation. But for a station it’s good. Great price for the package of environment, service & quality of food. We generally get annoyed w buffets bc of the waits, forgettable flavor across dishes(yes even 5 star places), and the empty serving dishes. This place kept everything warm & full seamlessly. Plus the lines were minimal expect for the eggs station which had its peaks. So since eggs are an important part if brunch we couldn’t give this place a 5… It’s really a 4.5 I overall for our experience.

Spending the weekend at the American Club. Had a breakfast from the menu and the Sunday brunch during our stay. The breakfasts from the menu were all very good and included egg, waffle and pancake dishes. The server was friendly and efficient. The brunch was amazing. Just about anything you could want. We tried a variety of items including omelets, cooked to order eggs, sausage, bacon, oysters, cheesy potatoes, smoked fish, shrimp, prime rib, fruit, croissants, pastries, smoothies and more I cannot remember. Everything was excellent. But there is so much it can be frustrating! But if I visit Kohler again I will definitely return.
