We love plate lunches. This is one of the best we’ve found on the south side of the island. And the bacon cheeseburger and fries were surprisingly wonderful too!

Want solid food on the cheap? Check this place out. It’s not a culinary masterpiece by any means but for what it is it does it well. Got the two piece place multiple times. $ 7 for rice, macaroni salad, and two small entrees. Can’t go wrong with that. Agree with everyone that it’s a bit of a wait but if you have time to kill and on a budget you should check this place out.

I loved the plate lunches here from this tiny little hole in the wall! It wasn’t fast but it is cheap and tasty. A great place to stop in for lunch to bring with you to the beach. Cash only. The wings and tempura shrimp were awesome. One of the best lunch deals on the island!

Good roadside food. Hawaiian style fast food. Pork was yummy and shrimp/garlic good too

Seriously, the only down side to this place is its closed on Mondays! Gotta try their burgers and mahi burgers. I am a die hard fan and will drive the 20 mins just for their burger when i’m ono for one. Definitely call ahead. If not, at least there’s shops to cruise around in. Oh, and don’t forget, CASHONLY.

For the grocery, Decent selection of items if you’re staying in a place with a fridge and small kitchen. Local items are sold here at competitive prices. The owners are friendly and helpful if you can’t find something. For the to-go-window, Great value, quick service, but don’t expect to eat-in. You’ll find the window to the right of the grocery entrance. It’s literally just a take-out window next to a grocery and parking lot. The menu is local-style so you’ll find things like teriyaki and POG. BUT, the chicken long rice here is my go-to-favorite meal. Be sure to bring cash for this cash-only shop.

Good. Conventient. Cheap. Gourmet it’s not, but Sueoka Store Snack Shop dishes up a variety of dishes that are decent quality at very non-Hawaiian prices. After having lunch here, we came back later and brought some home for dinner. They close at 5, so a little early otherwise for dinner(plus there’s no seating — just line up and get your order). it can take 15 minutes or so to get your order. In the afternoon, it’s rather warm while you are waiting with the hot sun bouncing off the parking lot. We took the opportunity to spend the time in the Sueoka Store, which is air conditioned, picked up a few needed items, and then came back out for our order. There’s a nice, shady spot to have lunch with tables right around the corner. Just head back down the street going the other way from the store(just past the large monkeypod tree), and you’ll find a little square shaded by a couple large trees. Bathrooms are also there. This place is an alternative if you want to watch the meal budget while visiting Kauai.

We spent a week in Kauai and vowed to eat at any given place only once, this was our only exception, we ate here twice. The snack shop has very good box lunches, the teriyaki beef and sweet crunchy wings are very tasty, even a bit addicting. The price is very good for the islands, décor is a bit lacking, and service is good. I highly recommend a stop at the Snack Shop if want some tasty food at a reasonable price.

This is why I chose to vacay in Kauai. I wanted to get away from city life and live in the country for the week. Well actually, I wanted to feel the simplicity of country life with slow pace, dated architecture, and the natural beauty of the island. And… still go back to my comfy hotel suite every night at the Marriott! Hahaha We decided to stop over at Koloa for lunch on our way to Waimea Canyon. Unilocaling i did for local eats and score! Found this market to load up on water and fresh pineapple slices and this little snack shop next to it. I knew if there was line, had to be decent. We ordered: Mahi burger dressed in lettuce and tartar sauce.(Tartar on
