Lunch was absolutely delicious. Super good sandwiches. It’s in a sticky garden however.

My family and I stopped in here on a whim and were hesitant because it was empty but oh my god, everything was sooooo delicious! The server was very nice as well. I ordered the fish and chips and it was so yummy! I also had a bloody mary, probably the best ive had yet! 5 stars to you Tomkats! Keep it up!

Been here many times but today was the worst service ever. Food delivered was not as ordered. Server took it back to correct the order and returned the food cold 10 minutes later. Apologized for poor service, they were short handed and the cook couldn’t read!

This is the locals bar with a happy hour to boot. Some of the best prices on the island for a bevy. The scenery has an interior cabana type feel. Lots of space for groups and sports on for those just there to relax. If you belly up to the bar you will be chatted up properly and meet some interesting folks. We just stayed for two drinks during happy hour – the two of us each having two drinks. Our bill was half the price than at the Hyatt(at the same time of day).

My family and I waited 10 minutes by the hostess stand. The hostess stand was unattended for the time being while the restaurant was empty at 6:45pm on a Saturday night. The menu seemed good, but if the food is just like their service then you might as well look somewhere else.

Chill place! Tammy was our server: excellent, right there with our drink orders, knew the menu inside and out, and sweet attitude that made our day! And the fodd was well prepared… make sure you specify uncooked if you like your poke raw.

We came twice during our 10 day trip to Kauai. The fish and chips was a winner for both me and my husband, though I think the batter is a bit thick. The taste was there and the actual fish itself was flakely and moist. I also had the Saimin(basically ramen with spam, fish cake and egg). The drinks were good, the mai tai’s were strong. The place itself is kinda funky, the servers were nice. It seems like a good place to have a quick bite or a cocktail but I wouldn’t expect amazing quality here. But I don’t think that’s there game. I think they are just trying to get business from individuals who are staying in Poipu and are sick of paying outrageous prices for the pool bar menu. In that area, they shine.

The fish tacos wee delicious. It is just one tortilla but the flavor was awesome. It comes with fries. Mom had the mojito was pretty good. There is a coupon in the book at the front door.

Not much to say about this place except, blah. kinda dingy ugly décor makes me feel sad just sitting here.

We walked in for lunch and the fish taco was more of a taco bowl and the fish in the fish and chips was more of a fish roll(kinda like an egg roll, with fish). After a day in the water, it’s a nice place to unwind for a decent, unremarkable meal. The beer is cold, the service is friendly(if slow), and the location is quirky-charming. I noticed there is a different menu now — or maybe that’s just the dinner menu. Either way, I wouldn’t expect too much(as far as skill set goes), but I wouldn’t be opposed to having a dinner there and finding out for myself.

The restaurant is very divey. The server was a D***. M wanted a side salad with his burger and fries. The guy was going to make him pay for the full lunch salad or replace the fries with an additional cost. After about $ 2 M gave up and just went with fries. I wanted to try the fish and chicken taco but only 1 serving of fries. I basically got 2 services. It was definitely annoying that we were inconveniencing the server. We couldn’t leave quick enough. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because the chicken taco was awesome.

This place is average. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The people working there were nice but service was very slow. We ordered a pizza for the kids and it looked and tasted like one of those frozen ones you cook in the microwave. The burgers also tasted like frozen patties. Fish taco was average nothing great about it to make a trip out to this restaurant.

First off, this is really a 2.5 star review, as it’s not really 3 stars. However it was a nice break from overly expensive restaurants. The food is so-so. Both my hubby and I went for the Hawaiian Kalua pig sandwich, served up with«hawaiian BBQ sauce,» lettuce, tomato, and pickles with a side of fries. The pork was okay, but not quite the imu quality I had before(@ an actual luau). The French fries were fantastic though! They came out hot and cripsy. I also had their macaroni salad, which was pretty standard. All in all, this was an okay place. If you go, don’t go with high expectations of it being your best meal ever in Kauai. Just go thinking you’ll have some pretty standard fare and maybe meet some interesting people.

My girlfriend and I sort of stumbled on this place and are forever fans! Without a doubt we both agree the Fish Taco is the best we have ever had. No hype! We also shared the ahi salad with wasabi dressing — - out of this world! Top your lunch off with glass of hard-to-find Wailua Wheat, Passion Fruit infused beer and you will be very happy. We stopped by there again a few nights later for happy hour and more Wailua Wheat, just loved the place. Casual dining in one of the most delightful areas on Kauai just doesn’t get better than this place.

Tomkats is definitely on my short list of places to go back to in this island. The service and food here was very memorable. First off this place sits just down from my favorite ice cream place. When you walk into a place and the server is so effervescent doesn’t it just changes your whole attitude too? I get quite cranky when hot but I do remember this older server lady who disclosed that she has a son whose in NorCal too. She rocks! I ordered the Hawaiian Plate. It was Kalua pork plus some sides that was very tasty as well. The portion was awesome. Served with a smile:) Also tried their fresh Fish Taco. One. Of. The. best. I proceeded with other people’s food and dived in to try their Garlic Mussels. Oh lord. Huge guys and fresh! Very garlicky! If you’re into garlic like me then definitely full speed ahead! The seafood salad was loaded with almost all creatures under the sea. I highly suggest this for the freshness, portion and healthy points. Loaded but just cooked naturally with no dressing to weigh it down with the unnatural stuff. Their décor is very refreshing and not overly Hawaiian. Just enough to remind you where you are. They welcome cats and we saw a few and they’re behaved. I was very happy with this establishment. Average wait for delicious food with an above average staff!

Fantastic service, local prices, good food. A wonderful alternative to the Poipu tourist traps. I was a little bit concerned when we first walked in, because the décor looked quite dated. We stayed because the server was very friendly and fast with the water. And in the end, we were quite pleased to find that for very reasonable prices, the food tasted quite good and came in generous portions.

This local dive is in the sleepy town of Koloa, near Poipu. We were doing a little shopping nearby and decided to try Tomkats Grille for lunch. The place looks a little sketchy but the service was good and the food was decent. I had the mahi mahi sandwich. It was nicely cooked. Fries were good. Mom had the burger. She said it was okay. The restaurant is sort of on a back patio with a courtyard. Small place but looks like they have a bar area too. Couple of waitress covering all the tables. Our waitress was pretty good. Refilled our drinks and brought the food pretty quickly. I guess they have a lot of local cats hanging around.(Maybe that is where the name comes from.) There was one when we were there. It was friendly and let me pet it.

Tomkats has open air covered patio seating( ) surrounding a pebble courtyard( ) with cats(
) along with some funny«Stray Cat Rules»( ). Pricier than your typical plate lunch, I got the $ 13 loco moco and the g/f the $ 9 Mahi Mahi taco. The loco moco has one patty, one fried egg and comes with a scoop of Potato, mac egg salad( ). Nice gravy and runny egg( ), but a tough, overcooked patty. At L&L you two patties and two eggs for almost half the price! 2 stars. I thought the singular«taco» for $ 9 was a menu typo, but it was one *huge* taco on maybe a 8−9″ flour tortilla( ). Flavorful, moist grilled fish. Came with side of chips & salsa. Enough for 2 – 3 tacos, if they had smaller tortillas! 4+ stars Nice looking bar area. Could be hopping at night?
