We love local greasy spoons. Not this one. Visiting the filthy bathroom after a few hours on the road should have been an indicator of things to come. The burger was a frozen patty, the kaiser bun stale and broke apart. The fries, pale and mushy. And they charged for onions. My son ordered country gravy on biscuits. The gelatinous gravy with specs of mystery meat had the look and texture of mucous, the biscuits hard as rocks. After a few tentative bites, we asked for the check. The waitress apologized but did not seem surprised. Avoid at all costs.

This is called the«New Smithfield» diner now. we had a dinner as we just arrived at the super 8 dump. Mile high meatloaf was dry overcooked and was lousy… I also had an egg and a pancake(it is hard to screw that up) avoid… I went next door to the truck stop and had a decent large cup of coffee.

I arrived for breakfast and found the food to be pretty good typical diner fare, the server was polite but needed to be asked for refills. I was still here at dinner and went back. The«Friday buffet» looked like it was made way ahead of time and unappetizing. I got an appetizer of 8 small corn nuggets for the exorbitant price of 4.50. The evening meal consisted of a ham steak with an almost slimy coating, badly prepared instant mashed potatoes and corn on the cob that had all the flavor boiled out of it. The bright note was the server who was extremely nice. Unfortunately that alone is not a reason to return and I will not recommend this place. Also the restroom could use a good cleaning
